Budokai 3's replacement music sounds kinda cool, I mean, it reminds me of Sonic.

Re: DBZ Budokai HD Collection: Official On-Going Thread
I wish we had some story mode cutscenes to watch, because that is where the music matters most.
However, those few samples are enough to see that they likely did a great job at replacing the original tracks with new, epic "today's-the-day-I-save-the-world" tracks giving chills and respecting the atmosphere, especially for the Budokai 1 european intro for which I always found the music to be incredibly dull... but not anymore! Now only the montage is dull (why the hell can't they give us the remake of the anime's opening even nowadays?).
The Budokai 3 has a very cool music too, which clearly conveys the feeling it's supposed to convey, but it feels weird to watch an opening without an actual song, like there's something missing... namely, a singing voice.

Re: DBZ Budokai HD Collection: Official On-Going Thread
The uploader of those videos commented on one of his videos saying that in the PAL version Budokai 1 only has Japanese voices, and Budokai 3 has both English and Japanese voices. It's likely they ported the PAL Collector's Edition of Budokai 3 that added the option for both.
The PAL Collector's Edition came out at a later date than the original, did it have the other features that the Japanese version added and were also included in the North American Greatest Hits release? It's looking like the American version won't have Japanese voices in Budokai 1 or the additions to the Greatest Hits release, so the PAL version might be the one to get.

But in certain US retail stores such as Gamestop the description for the HD collection says it would include the japanese voices in Budokai 3.Taku128 wrote:The uploader of those videos commented on one of his videos saying that in the PAL version Budokai 1 only has Japanese voices, and Budokai 3 has both English and Japanese voices. 60 moves per character including Kamehameha
Fierce fi ghting modes including Story, Duel & World Match
Follow the DBZ animated series from Sayan Saga to Android Saga!

BUDOKAI 3 FEATURES:

The original US version of Budokai 3 didn't have the authentic Japanese voice cast. So if the description is true, the US HD collection might be having the greatest hits additions since Japanese voices were only in the greatest hits version of Budokai 3. At least I hope I'm right.

If you're asking if the PAL collector's edition of Budokai 3 had the same features of the US greatest hits Budokai 3 version, then your answer is yes. They both had English and Japanese voices, plus the 4 extra costumes (Goku w/ Halo, King Piccolo costume, Trunks w/ armor, and Vegeta w/ Scouter).

The music was incredibly dull? I disagree.Cold Skin wrote:However, those few samples are enough to see that they likely did a great job at replacing the original tracks with new, epic "today's-the-day-I-save-the-world" tracks giving chills and respecting the atmosphere, especially for the Budokai 1 european intro for which I always found the music to be incredibly dull... but not anymore! Budokai 1's replacement OP track imo, it was a terrible music placement, if they wanted to use Tag Vs music, a more fitting would have definitely be Dragon Claw, Burst Open or Super Strength. Ultimately I'd have chosen Dragon Claw for B1's OP, if I had the choice to.
Enigmatic Soul was a horribly awful choice they made, but well, the mistake's done and it can't be taken back.. Unless they released a Title Update to fix it somehow.
Sounds like Budokai 1 HD was the unlucky one to get crapped on. Budokai 3 HD, could be the decent one.

Another US retail I found the same description is here:
http://www.amazon.com/Dragon-Ball-Budok ... collection
On Amazon.com it says the US version does have japanese voice cast for Budokai 3.
Also, there is this US retail as well:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6874156040
So these retail websites claim they are selling the US version w/ japanese voices in Budokai 3. Newegg is a very reliable retail, I've had a good experience with them myself.

Re: DBZ Budokai HD Collection: Official On-Going Thread
Found a playthrough of the PAL version of the HD Collection (I guess folks in Europe are getting early/review copies,) and it does indeed confirm that the original music has been replaced by compositions from BT2, BT3, and even Raging Blast 1. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rdte1QSrhFI
Nothing matters (in a cosmic sense.) Have a good time.

Re: DBZ Budokai HD Collection: Official On-Going Thread
I have some interesting/vague notes about the music situation with these games. It looks like these ports still use the exact same files as the PS2 versions did for the music, so if you've modded your 360/PS3 you can actually swap out the included AFS music archives with the originals.
I've only tried this with Budokai 1, but I'm pretty sure it'll work just as well with Budokai 3.

Wow, the title card music is kept intact. We've still got at least one composition of Yamamoto.theoriginalbilis wrote:Found a playthrough of the PAL version of the HD Collection (I guess folks in Europe are getting early/review copies,) and it does indeed confirm that the original music has been replaced by compositions from BT2, BT3, and even Raging Blast 1. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rdte1QSrhFI
Interesting. Does that mean that the streaming files sound just as bad as the PS2 version?Rad Raddish wrote:I have some interesting/vague notes about the music situation with these games. Re: DBZ Budokai HD Collection: Official On-Going Thread
The problem with that Budokai 1 intro track that I've always hated (whereas other tracks like Challengers were simply perfection), is that there was no emotion set to it, no epic feel. It sounded just like a big rock guitar demonstration that you would put when a motorcycle gang arrives in town ready to be trouble for everyone who dares looking at them. Kind of "let me show you how we are bad boys who spend their time kickin' ass". And Dragon Ball characters are not just fighting bad boys, they're heroes. For a montage showing various heroic moments, I think a "heroic" music is better. Same goes with those other tracks you mention, except maybe for Burst Open, which is still way too sound-violent, BUT does have that heroic side to it that would make it okay for this montage, if I took my remote control to temporarily lower the sound of my TV I guess.dbboxkaifan wrote:The music was incredibly dull? Those tracks actually make me think of that awful US replacement score for the Broly movie, where big metal songs were playing in some scenes, although Broly was probably the only character for whom such mindless "let's-make-your-brain-blow-up" tracks were appropriate because the character himself is about mindless violence.
Enigmatic Soul is basically the heroic track that could be played in every final battle, let's hope they used it for Super Saiyan Goku, or a track that's just that good or better (there's a lot of great tracks available with all those games). I'm really gonna miss Challengers though, which was a perfect Dragon Ball track.

This is cool, music from BT2 / BT3 / RB1 / TTT should be enough to have plenty of variety.theoriginalbilis wrote:Found a playthrough of the PAL version of the HD Collection (I guess folks in Europe are getting early/review copies,) and it does indeed confirm that the original music has been replaced by compositions from BT2, BT3, and even Raging Blast 1. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rdte1QSrhFI
My only concern was that the song they chose for B1's OP wasn't the too suitable, but oh well.
CloudSkin @ I concur, that's a great observation.

So, do you think that replacing character models and editing textures will be as easy to do in the HD Verisons as in the normal PS2 versions of these games?Rad Raddish wrote:I have some interesting/vague notes about the music situation with these games. Yup, looks that way at least, they use similar AFS archives for the graphics assets.Nightstar1994 wrote:So, do you think that replacing character models and editing textures will be as easy to do in the HD Verisons as in the normal PS2 versions of these games?Rad Raddish wrote:I have some interesting/vague notes about the music situation with these games. I'm not sure, but the file sizes are similar so there shouldn't be any quality loss/gained because of the files themselves. Most of the files (except for the replaced music, of course) even have 2002 "modified by" dates.kei17 wrote:Interesting. Does that mean that the streaming files sound just as bad as the PS2 version?
