Chaos Saiyajin: Thanks.
Mizugi: Hope you didn't wait too long.
Here I was, going on about it maybe taking a while, because I wasn't in school to work on it. Then it pops up within a couple of days anyway.
Glad you're happy with it. Good luck on the fanfic.
B-kun: Damn straight. I find it quite amusing.
I've never heard of that show, but it sounds interesting. Thanks for the info!
Saiya-jin: And thank you for looking.
Dayspring: That reminds me, don't expect another picture after this one I'm doing for you right now.

I'd like to make a request:
Basically what I have in mind is a picture that focuses on the Kame students (Goku and Kuririn, chibi versions of course). Maybe have them posing in a fighting stance next to each other with the Kame symbol in the background, or have Roshi standing in the backround. Whatever you think would work best.
Hope you're up to it, I'd love to see it!
EDIT:
Oops, just saw the "no more requests posts."
Disregard then...

In an attempt to keep this thread from slow and painful death, I am going to bump it by sharing a picture with everyone (that's right, I am hijacking Leo's thread for a second.)

I know it's rather small, but I drew that a few months ago, and figured I'd give it the old college try and color it. I'd definitely like it if people could gauge me on how well they like the drawing/color job.
Now keep in mind that this is only my second time at coloring, so in time I can very well likely improve and develop my coloring style more.
Anyway, be as blunt as you so choose to be.

Anyway, that's not bad. Although, the nose is a little different. Toriyama's noses are usually a "V" looking shape with shading underneath it. Oh well, to each their own, and it's passable. Good job.
Best. Slip 'n' slide. EVER!

Well, by nature I find it difficult to fully represent Toriyama-sensei's noses in the way they should be, so I have my own nose style. I don't think it takes much away from the image itself though, just a minor detail.t-bone wrote:That's without threat of serious injury correct? Laughing

It might be the roundness of the face too. Young Gohan esspecially had a rounder face.ChaotixXero wrote:I don't know. It reminds me more of Gohan than Goku, maybe its the bangs.
I totally agree, and I wasn't saying that to be critical. I was just pointing that out.lost in thought wrote:I don't think it takes much away from the image itself though, just a minor detail.

lost in thought: Haha. Don't worry, I actually said much earlier in the thread that people could share their own pictures in here if they wanted to. I'm sure I encouraged it.
I'd be doing more myself, but I'm currently busy with...other stuff.
Did you draw that on the computer? Some of it looks like you used the line tool. I always used that, when I didn't have a scanner. I posted one of mine earlier.
Yours is better.
I think you should draw the ears bigger though. Ear height roughly usually goes from the eyebrow down to the nostrils. I'm not sure if Toriyama has that too.
And maybe make the eyes closer to the nose. The eyes start where the sides of the nostrils end, so try to keep that in mind. I have trouble with that myself.
This is just for normal anatomy. I don't take notice whether Toriyama does this or not.
This was my first colouring job. Pretty darn bad. I didn't even know how to use a Multiply layer.
http://avalanchestudios.net/leotaku/majin.jpg
My suggestion for the colouring is that you make the shading more noticeable, by making the contrast between the 2 shades stronger, and/or by having the shading cover more area. The way you have it now, it only covers a few small spots.
And I suggest trying to get the shading to define the structure and shape of the face. I'm not sure how to explain it.
For example, if you were colouring a ball, you probably wouldn't want the shading to be a straight line down 1/3 of the ball. You'd want the shading to curve along with the ball, to get a rounded, 3D look.
Hope that helps, dude.
Chaos Saiyajin: I'll look forward to seeing your stuff. Feel free to post it in here.

Now as far as his ears go, well, I forgot to add them in in the initial drawing so... I had to add them in after it was done. The same as well for a bit of the left side on his shirt. (I had to extend it a bit.)
Now as far as pronounce shadowing goes, I am definitely going to work on that, but really with Goku/Gohan (who ever anyone wants it to be lol) I was really just experimenting, and the end result is what you see before you. So I didn't put much thought into shading at that moment.
Now however, since I've found a good coloring technique, it is definitely time to look into shading.
Thanks again, Leo.

Hey lost in thought, I actually like the style of that quite a bit. You seem to mave a pretty good idea of proportions and expressions, it just seems like the lineart's slightly awkward. But that goes away easily after a while.
Thread hijacking? yay. http://www.deviantart.com/view/29442941/ I should totally try to develop my own style or something...
Still bitter that I can't get a request out of leotaku but I'll get over it.

Mr. Announcer... that is, by all means... the awesome-ness.
Goku's hair is one of the magical aspects of DragonBall that can only exist in the 2-D realm of animation.
Don't worry. Once Leotaku's done with his "business," we'll get him with requests. We shall get him well.
