Well, guys, you know how there are those Memories capsules that let you hear various dialogue? Well, I've just discovered that, only if you've got Japanese voices on, you don't get all the stuff said in the English version. For instance, Kid Goku only has 2 voice clips, rather than the English's 30, and Bardock's Japanese 1, compared to English Bardock's 22. It seems like either, FUNimation recorded some extra lines, or this release doesn't have all the audio data. I'm hoping for the former, as I don't want this to seem incomplete.

That's because the Japanese and dub studios recorded at separate times. Also, I'm guessing FUNi adapted a script and recorded the dialogue, however didn't realize that the Japanese VAs didn't go as far as recording all of this. An example can be seen when playing Goku's story mode, in the English version when you find Mr. Buu (after visiting Yamcha, #18, Chichi, and Bulma) you'll actually transform to all SSJ levels in a quick still-shot cut-scene sequence. However if you have the Japanese VAs on, you won't get that sequence and you'll just be taken straight to battle, where normal-form Goku says Buu's strong opponent will arrive in 3 days.Alchemist Ed wrote:Well, guys, you know how there are those Memories capsules that let you hear various dialogue? If Goku doesn't transform to all stages before fighting fat Buu when switched to Japanese, does that mean that the texts accompanying the Japanese VAs are subtitles instead of dub titles? See, once you mentioned about the difference during Goku's conversation with Buu, I got curious whether or not if the texts are also different.

It's still dubtitles, it's the same "right-before-battle cut-scene" that's on the English version if you haven't visited Yamcha, #18, Chichi, and Bulma after leaving the Lookout to battle Buu.kvon wrote:If Goku doesn't transform to all stages before fighting fat Buu when switched to Japanese, does that mean that the texts accompanying the Japanese VAs are subtitles instead of dub titles? So since Songoku with Halo is in this game, does he appear in Dragon Universe?
Meaning the battle Songoku ssj2 vs Majin Vegeta ssj2 and Songoku ssj3 vs Majin Buu (the fat one).
And a second question: Does anyone (from Europe) bought the platium edition of Budokai 3?
Here is a link: http://a526.g.akamai.net/7/526/14067/v1 ... 9755_L.jpg
And if so, is it the same as the Collector edition? Does it also has the Japanese voices, the extra costumes, better graphics, etc.

First question: No, unfortunatly we can't seelct a different skin in Dragon Universe as it is, and Goku doesn't sport his Halo skin during the Buu arc.kindertuin wrote:So since Songoku with Halo is in this game, does he appear in Dragon Universe?

Second question: I recall reading a member here post that the Platinum edition does indeed contain the Collectors' Edition extras, so yeah, it's the same version.

No prob, guys. Glad to be of help. Brings a smile to my face knowing I may be inspiring those who've only played the original release to get this.kindertuin wrote:thanks for the answers!

I find this ironic, especially considering there's still people that're getting the flawed version even in February. Akira, I don't know if your Best Buy stores will get reshipping of the Greatest Hits release. With the financial debacle Atari's going through, as well as the confusion they've put on the Greatest Hits release, they may not even reship them to stores. For all we know, it may now be as limited as GT Final Bout used to be. Perhaps you would be best off at mailing it to Atari for an exchange?

YES, I finally got it!
Okay, today the Best Buy store that I work at restocked Budokai 3 Greatest Hits. I bought one and it was indeed the updated version that I have sought for so long. Seeing as I have in my possesion a Misprint and Correct version of GH Budokai 3, I noticed one packaging difference that may help future seekers grab the correct one.
I was hoping this would be the case, as it was because of this one difference that I took a chance again and bought another copy.
It boils down to this my friends; Shrink Wrap.
The Misprint copy had the "stiffer" shrink wrap that is folded and glued on the ends like almost every video game or DVD that you might purchase on a regular basis.
The Corrected Copy had the "Softer" Saran Wrap style shrinkwrap on it. This stood out to me because it is the same style we use in the store to re-shrinkwrap items that get knocked or the standard shrinkwrap glue comes loose and comes off easily.
It was this that made me think right off, "Hey, this looks like it's been re-shrinkwrapped! Oh, but these just came in today.... I bet they opened them at Atari and put the correct discs in the cases and reshrinked them in a hurry! Worth a shot I guess to find out."
Well, I was right. So I hope my discovery helps anyone else in search of the corrected copies out there. Good luck friends.

Not that I plan on searching for the real Greatest Hits, but, holy crap Akira, that's pretty perceptive.
Interesting idea, that probably is the case.
Pretty much every EB Games where I live though doesn't have the games in any shrinkwrap, even when you buy it new. You buy it, and they just put the disc into the store-displayed DVD case of the game you just brought up to them.
It's still the official case, I just mean, you actually just take the one that was left out for display. They don't seem to keep them shrinkwrapped anymore.

I did something that makes Budokai 3 that much more fun to play. I just put the whole game on my PS2 HDD and play directly off of that. (You can order a disc online that will allow you to do this called an HD Loader.)
Imagine the Special Edition Budokai 3 with the following features:
-On Character select screen, choosing between characters and costume variations is instantaneous. (Normally it takes 3 seconds as the PS2 scans the disc and loads the next skin)
-4 second load times between battles. (You know the the screen where the Saibaman heads pop up. I tried to rotate the analog sticks to make them grow and even at my fastest I can barely get half a saibaman up before the battle starts when playing off HDD. When playing off disc I got 21 saibamen up at that speed before the battle started. If that is any indication of how much a difference it makes.)
The game as a whole is more enjoyable and with virtually no load times, I can't stand to go back to playing right off the disc alone anymore. HDDs are next to impossible to find these day, but if you happen to have a PS2 ver. 1 and an HDD, this is an option you should look into. It makes a world of difference.
