For games they tend to be free region, but for Blu-ray films/series they're locked as the brands intend to.Saiga wrote:Aren't PS3s not region locked? So can't the American version just be imported anyway?
DBZ Budokai HD for PS3 has no region protection according to PlayAsia.
However, US Budokai 1 HD has only the FUNimation English dub voice cast whereas the PAL features the authentic Japanese cast.
FUNimation 2015 Releases I want:

Re: DBZ Budokai HD Collection: Official On-Going Thread
That YouTube video just took the Budokai 3 opening and replaced the music. I can confirm that the NA version just has a new instrumental song not the original Kageyama song.
That is my one minor gripe, however the visuals in game are GORGEOUS, and looks like a modern PS3 game.

I find it weird Rajman would post a false misleading video, but it's his video channel.

Thank Kami i thought i was screwed out of both the gorgeous cover and the vocal budokai 3 opening. So just a comparison.darkhawk5 wrote:That YouTube video just took the Budokai 3 opening and replaced the music. EU Version:Tag VS music EU B1 opening, instrumental new music B3 opening, Single normal Cover, B1 JAP audio
NA version:Rock the dragon B1 opening, instrumental new music B3 opening, Reversible JAP cover, B1 Eng Audio.
other than that it's all the same.

Just ordered the NA version, hoping it arrives in time for Christmas.
I'm re-watching Dragon Ball GT in full on my blog. Check it out if you're interested in my thoughts on the series as I watch through it!

I feel nostalgic for stuff that happened last year:Hellspawn28 wrote:I guess I'm the only one who makes me feel bit odd when I see people having nostalgia for the Budokai games. I was like 11 when the first game came out and I never feel that nostalgic for it.bkev wrote:Well damn if they don't know their audience! Nostalgiafags rejoyce, I guess.

Seriously though, along with the DBZ Movies, the Budokai games pretty much defined my early years as a Dragon Ball fan.
Anyway, I'm dying to get this, even though our PS3 is broken right now. I haven't played the first Budokai since I was 5 and I absolutely love the fact that they put the Japanese art on the reverse cover. To add to that, it's only $70 in New Zealand, $30 cheaper than your typical PS3 (I guess this is expected since it's just a re-release).
EDIT: Sales in NZ look to be going well:

Is there any way to get official sales numbers for this game?

I guess this Dragon Ball game is going to have more sales than RB2 and UT, or am I incorrect?

Re: DBZ Budokai HD Collection: Official On-Going Thread
There is still one thing we have to find out, and it will take time: what about the Budokai 2 intro?
And this will take time because you have to collect all other capsules if I remember correctly, therefore playing extensively in Dragon Arena to have all the exclusive ones like Saibaiman and Cell Jr. (who are also the last trophies I have to get).
Only then does the "memories" capsules appear for all characters - with all unused recorded dialogues since all characters were to have a Dragon Universe story - and then finally you can get the Budokai 2 intro...
At least in France, in the players' reviews, the comments are overwhelmingly positive.
Its success could be a source of inspiration for the future games (specifically: "guys, use REAL cutscenes for the whole story like you did on Budokai 1, not just dialogues/texts or copy/paste generic choregraphies like in Burst Limit - which only had like seven or eight REAL cutscenes!!").

I wouldn't be surprised if it did, it has the most perfect story mode to date and the most perfect Budokai gameplay/content to date.dbboxkaifan wrote:I guess this Dragon Ball game is going to have more sales than RB2 and UT, or am I incorrect?

Can you folks from different countries give me a quick and accurate breakdown of which languages your two games have? Something like this would be helpful:
COUNTRY: (insert here)
BUDOKAI 1: (language or languages here)
BUDOKAI 3: (language or languages here)
Thank you!

Re: DBZ Budokai HD Collection: Official On-Going Thread
I'm listening to the Budokai HD OST and tracks from Raging Blast 1 seem to have been remixed or maybe it's just me that I forgot how they sounded. I have to say, they sound cooler around this time.

Re: DBZ Budokai HD Collection: Official On-Going Thread
Some tracks make me wonder if ALL tracks are from existing games, cause I feel like I've never heard them before.dbboxkaifan wrote:I'm listening to the Budokai HD OST and tracks from Raging Blast 1 seem to have been remixed or maybe it's just me that I forgot how they sounded. But it might be my memory playing tricks on me, I just don't remember the music when Piccolo speaks to Gohan (when dying for him). A good one.
Other tracks, I know I've heard, but I can't remember on which game, like that track in one of the Budokai 3 "Medium Tenkaichi Budokai" battles that has a very Chinese (and somehow epic) feel to it...

Maybe that's because they play in stereo. Spike's games from BT3 onward always output music in mono in spite of their stereo streaming files on the discs.dbboxkaifan wrote:I'm listening to the Budokai HD OST and tracks from Raging Blast 1 seem to have been remixed or maybe it's just me that I forgot how they sounded. Re: DBZ Budokai HD Collection: Official On-Going Thread
I'll be putting up the Budokai HD Collection for download on 3 links (thanks to Animositas for the audio gamerip) and Yamamoto is still there according to the audio gamerip, there are very few tracks (only seconds) but those little pieces bring back great memories.
It kinda sucks that Gatebreaker isn't included and the BT2 that are have been shortened, not all, I think.
Doesn't Namco Bandai have the rights to release DB VGM on CD? I'd definitely buy BT2 OST if it were published on CD.

Re: DBZ Budokai HD Collection: Official On-Going Thread
I know there are some tracks that exist in multiple versions, for example I remember one track from Ultimate Tenkaichi (the one from the Bardack VS Freezer story fight) being looped so that only the intro would play, but the full version is still used elsewhere.dbboxkaifan wrote: It kinda sucks that Gatebreaker isn't included and the BT2 that are have been shortened, not all, I think.
However, I guess some tracks only exist as shortened too if they are exclusively used in story mode cutscenes for example, and don't last too long... Precisely like the Budokai 1 track I mentionned, it's really short and I was like "nooooo!!" when it faded out after like 15-20 seconds!!

Was this the North American version, though? Curious if there are any MORE differences between the two regions' releases. I'm hoping not, but I'm nowhere near unlocking Dragon Arena myself to confirm.dbboxkaifan wrote:Cloud Skin has confirmed so, and also posted the codes to unlock the four rewards.Hellspawn28 wrote:Does Budokai 3 have the extras that where in the Japanese/Greatest Hits version?
