FUNi is a the "scum company" really...
Well let's see here.

FUNimation, like any other company, have to work within copyrights and are stuck to one format- DVD, which as I beleive uses mpeg2. Not only that, they more than likely aren't given the best masters from Toei. See ADV with Saint Seiya and Sailor moon.

Secondly, FUNimaiton can't instantly change how they do things in three seconds. THey also can't remaster everything because that COSTS MONEY. Divx/xvid, it's easy to do so, but DVD remastering costs LOTS AND LOTS OF MONEY. Ever wondered why Macross was so expensive? Nice Little Elf, Arent ya?

Next, FUNimation doesn't have expensive DVDs. From what I can see, www.dvdpacific.com has them to around $8 US each, with some of the newer ones being slightly more. And geuss what? this happens with EVERY OTHER COMPANY THAT HAS EVER EXISTED EVER. This ois called Business. We know FUNimation isn't made of flower and gold, but christ, nor is every other company!

Ultimatley you should see the error of your ways. Not only that, #animehq shit leads to people not buying stuff, ergo, companies loose money because of these stupid cunt-head bootleg groups.

SImple understanding of business dynamics should establish these as facts.

Also, Region 3 sets contain burned-on Chinese subtitles. Way to go Internet...

You tell em tablet ;)

Seriously though, I recall TOEI not giving Pioneer the previews and such for Sailor Moon. The majority of the problems FUNi has with DBZ, Pioneer has with Sailor Moon and it seems its all because of TOEI. They probably wanted to make their versions come out on top.

Some of the grain in the DVD's though is reaaaally bad. Its like TOEI kept its masters in sand containers or something. I don't know how the source material is so bad, even on more recent stuff like GT...

Just not giving the previews for Sailor Moon, they also refuse to license Sailor Stars to ADV, although ADV has told fans it will continue to push for it. TOEI wants to protect Sailor Moon's "young girl suitability" demographic that exists outside of Japan, so they don't want the final season of their precious commercial commodity to be seen in other countries, revealing that there are straight guys who transform into scantily clad girls and that Sailor Moon has a bit of relationship with one of them, implying the suggestion that Usagi is a lesbian. God forbid! Ya it's irksome, but even so, a bootleg is a bootleg. At least call it what it is and don't try and imply something else.

Not to mention Toei completely not giving an entire episode of SMR to ADV... at least we get all our episodes...

Is it just TOEI who do this, or all anime companies? Do 4kids also get messed about with whoever makes Pokemon and Kinnikuman?

I know that the US version of Pokemon is missing some things, like Prof Oak's lecture at the end of the episode. But they seem to have all the episodes, music, and openings (and even the endings, judging by the fact that there was an English version of "Nyase's Party" shown on FOX Kids once). Does Pocket Monsters have Next Episode Previews? And if so, was it a 4Kids decision to cut them, or the original Japanese company whose name I still can't remember.

I have no idea. I find most anime shows normally do. There are of course episodes missing from Pokemon, but I figure you already know that Liam. It's a shame, I would've loved to see James with the fake blow-up breasts! I know that the first Yugi-Oh! series was never shown here, which is why the series seems to start so abruptly, when you see the "first" episode. But these are more the case of the U.S. censoring coming into play.

It's Nintendo who owns all things pokemon.

Either way, it's all fairly moot, as the English version of Pokemon won't cut into the Japanese profits, or reverse importing and such.

As for companies, its just up to the licensor. The people who sold Hiabane Renmei to Pionneer gave them enough time to get the show on Region 1 DVD 8 months after its first Japanese Broadcast, but on another note Gainax refused to give ADV the Evangelion Director cut episodes, for a while

That is bullshit.

Yeah, they have previews. And I bet 4Kids cut them for some reason.

I heard that they were like, two separate shows, one that was all about cards and one that followed the manga exactly. I'm going to go get my facts straight...

Yes, the first Yugi-Oh! series followed the beginning of the manga that's running in American Shonen Jump right now. It's a shame, I would've loved seeing Yugi toy with that robber with the lighter on top the gun game. But you can imagine the U.S. censors would've had an aneurism! 8)

These region 3 dvds are not bootleg for sure because they are published by Toei Animation.

Possibly. But I'm not going to assume that they do, merely because "4shits sux!!!!!". We know the problems that FUNI have had with next episode previews, after all.

Amen to the latter. But it can be to the former if you wish! I'm very open-minded!

Just as long as you don't start amusingly changing the name of companies for satirical purposes. That makes me want to punch things. And I don't like to punch girls who occasionally talk like big purple dinosaurs.

Er, that's Megatron. Not Barney.
