Yardrat-Schmardrat. Why didn't Kami teach teleportation?

Discussion, generally of an in-universe nature, regarding any aspect of the franchise (including movies, spin-offs, etc.) such as: techniques, character relationships, internal back-history, its universe, and more.

There's also the matter of how Baba was able to ferry both Goku and Gohan Sr. back and forth between "This World" and "Next World," similar to how Kami was able to. We don't actually get to see her do any teleporting, if memory serves, but I'm sure she didn't take "the long way" to get there.

That being said, my money goes on the divinity clause.

It's just his Kami magic.

I mean, we see him apparate clothes for Goku, but nobody asks why he didn't teach that to Goku.

Don't forget after Piccolo has fused with Kami, he also has the ability to generate clothes, ie. Gohan in the Cell Games, and Trunks and Goten during their training in the Buu saga. It definitely has to be divinity-based.

Nuh-uh. Piccolo also gave Gohan his clothes when he was training in the wilderness, so clearly it's a Namekian trait, rather than anything else. :)

He also regenerates/creates his turban/cape a couple of times before he fuses with Kami, doesn't he?

That's not a Namek thing, it's a Piccolo thing.

Maybe it's an able-to-create-Dragon-Balls-kind-of-Nameck trait? Dende can heal people, and Piccolo/Kami can create clothes and hourglasses out of thin air.

Dende has never made clothes, though.

•Piccolo is born as a tailor or whatever. He alone has this great power.
•He splits into the one that becomes Kami and Daimao. Both can make clothes (we assume with Daimao).
•Piccolo Jr. is born. He can also make clothes.
•Piccolo and Kami fuse, and of course he can still make clothes (maybe even better!)

I meant that they both have some special magic ability. But Piccolo is more than just a tailor! He makes hourglasses and swords and shoes too. So, maybe he's a tailor/clockmaker/blacksmith/shoemaker.

That Piccolo sure is an impressive guy.

What, so you can have one ability that Piccolo will never have?

Geez, you never jumped rope when you were younger and did the "Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Sailor" rhyme? Or at least heard of it? Besides, I doubt being able to jump rope would be all that impressive over someone that can fly.

That would be no to both questions.
Besides, I doubt being able to jump rope would be all that impressive over someone that can fly
But when you jump rope fast enough it feels like your soaring!

I recall that Kami (Vol. 5, I think) one day recounted to Mr. Popo about how he had vague memories of being descended from people who specialized in magicks; ie. they were magicians, hence the dragonballs.

No, take it from someone who's instructor frequently makes her do 300 skips, you just get hot and really tired! :D

Maybe. Aren't they all Guru's children, though?

Skipping rope is EVIL.

The current generation of Namekians are, because of the disastrous storms the happened on the planet after which only Saichoro, survived. Remember that Kami/Piccolo Daimao's father sent him to Earth before that disaster, in an effort to save him. So before the disaster, the gene pool among the Namekians was greater.

And yes, skipping rope is EVIL! :D

OHOHOHOH! Dende makes clothes for Goku after the Majin Vegeta fight! *nods and waves her manga* It's a namekian trait...

I reckon dragonballs is a rare trait
healing is a taught tecnique (dende calls himself a 'healer' namekian rather than a 'fighter')
and teleportation... well, how ELSE would one get from living-world to dead-world and back so easy? It's magic! *nods* jus' like Bebi's teleportation magic, I reckon.
