I don't really see how. In the manga, didn't they just raise their ki to call him right away? Well, they could do the same thing that I did for my own custom "kai" edit, wherein I managed to make it so that Gohan gets the cut on his face after the first encounter with Videl while rescuing the bus, and then cut to the two of them at school the next day where Videl finds Gohan out.
