I'd like a re-release of the older edited dub. The quality on those are watchable but if I could get a higher quality one...that would be good.Krycek7o2 wrote:
Slim packs, man, slim packs. I don't care about the fluff, but if it means subtitles and English audio on the Dragon Boxes, get them out there on the cheap!
Whatever FUNi does next with the franchise color me intrigued. I remember someone asking for plenty of dubs, with a HD release that might be possible if they license out those dubs.

That would be pretty cool, sadly I too, don't think that will happen. It's one of those things that get swept quietly under the rug.eledoremassis02 wrote:I'd like a re-release of the older edited dub. Re: Phasing out Dragonball Z Season sets?
I hope its not being phased out because of lack of interest!!
I know plenty of people that enjoy the orange bricks, they aren't for me but I was glad to see DBZ still remembered by the general public. It could be that they are sticking with Kai and only selling those sets? Walmarts pretty cheap and doesn't offer everything so it could be that....?
If they are being phased out, I hope something else comes in it's stead. Even better would be more dragonbox releases! I don't much care for title cards or the intro/ending but I already have dbzbox so my OCD needs to have the rest Muahahaha. Despite not having the American broad cast score it is the best release of the show even though the picture restoration is dated.

Couldn't agree more. I'd love to have these out to replace any damaged Dragon Box discs with.Krycek7o2 wrote:Slim packs, man, slim packs. I don't care about the fluff, but if it means subtitles and English audio on the Dragon Boxes, get them out there on the cheap!
It seems like every time FUNimation discusses the Dragon Box, they talk about how much of a collector's item it was meant to be, presentation and packaging included. I don't think I'm going out on a limb by saying most people just want the footage, and could take a pass on high-end boxes and booklets.

Dragon Box footage in season set cases. Imagine if they did that without telling anyone

If they were to do that, they would have to include the US music audio track or the clients would complain and return for not having it.
Btw, if FUNimation re-released Dragon Boxes Z on DVD plastic cases I'd buy them as I don't like the sloppy work they did with the Dragon Boxes Z 1-7.

Maybe FUNi should make thin, yellow slimpacks with the Dragon Box footage and all 3 audio tracks.dbboxkaifan wrote:If they were to do that, they would have to include the US music audio track or the clients would complain and return for not having it.

I won't get them, but that way, the fans can have a more affordable option to have all of Z in full screen with all the audio tracks to please the fans.

The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128

Just because they can't be found on shelves in Wal Mart doesn't mean the orange bricks are going anywhere. A quick jump over to Amazon gives you access to all nine for about $20 a piece. Physical stores like Wal Mart, Target and Best Buy only have so much floor space. The first season was released back in February 2007. 5 and a half years is an awfully long time for a store to keep the same exact item in stock. They do need to turn over their inventory eventually.

Re: Phasing out Dragonball Z Season sets?
That's true, but sometimes Amazon has a large stock and it could take a while for an item to be sold. The Dragon Boxes are a good example of this. (Unless they are still making boxes 5-7?). Walmart still has Box 3 in stock as well..but as we know that one's becoming harder to get.CODii wrote:Just because they can't be found on shelves in Wal Mart doesn't mean the orange bricks are going anywhere. But to have multiple Walmarts (out of all places) not have something a DBZ in stock for months now show that either they are not get new stock. But this could be for a few reasons. Such as, they are not making new season sets (which is what I thought) or the Walmarts that haven't had them in stock for a while don't feel the need to restock but DBZ is lacking interest in these area.

Perhaps the areas that have not been restocked is due to lack of interest?

Re: Phasing out Dragonball Z Season sets?
For DBZ with Dragon Box Z quality, Japanese audio, FUNimation dub with US replacement music and FUNimation dub with the Original music, cancelling the orange bricks and bringing the Single Dragon Box Z parts would certainly be ideal.samuraix123 wrote:Wait a minute...Funimation + Awesome Dragon-box quality + All 3 audio tracks to please the fans? surely you jestI would buy that in a heart beat! heck, lets sweeten the deal how about both English and Japanese title cards? Funimation would never haft to release another version. Unless they wanted to do the Blu-rays again.
It's a shame the Ocean Dub isn't uncut so it'd definitely need a lot of work to be fully uncut.
Japanese for the missing parts on the Ocean Dub could perfectly work, than having FUNimation's Dub, 'cos the Ocean Dub fans I've talked to refuse to watch FUNi's Dub whether it's Z or Kai, but if they had to choose, it'd be Z than Kai.
By the way, I know the named "Ocean Dub" was also produced by FUNimation, but it's how it's known everywhere and sounds cool too.

Re: Phasing out Dragonball Z Season sets?
This is the conclusion that makes the most sense to me. It shouldn't really come as a surprise that the sets might not be selling as well as they once did. The real surprise would be if there was still major demand for these sets after they have been available for so long.eledoremassis02 wrote:Perhaps the areas that have not been restocked is due to lack of interest?

It seems that they're also being phased out where I work. Hopefully this means that demand will build back up and we'll be seeing those Blu-rays again sometime soon.

Re: Phasing out Dragonball Z Season sets?/Lack of interest i
Walmart still hasnt re-stocked and the same 2 DBGT complete seasons haven't moved lol.
Best Buy too has not replenished there DB or DBZ season sets.
and now Target has no DBZ sets (never seen GT of DB there)
No Kai at Walmart or Best Buy
I guess DBZ is officially dead in my area
Any one else seeing the same?

Here in the UK the orange bricks only started to be released quite recently, there are only about three of them out so far and we haven't had a sniff of anything else. Even though UK bricks exist now, I've never seen a single one in any shop despite looking out of interest.

Walmart now has 2 GT complete series. No Z sets or Kai
Target has no Z except 1 movie pack and they had orange Brick 8 but it was on sale because it was missing the slip case and musta been an old copy because when I got it, it had the booklet

It was brand new but missing the slipcase? That could have been a collectible error...eledoremassis02 wrote:Target has no Z except 1 movie pack and they had orange Brick 8 but it was on sale because it was missing the slip case and musta been an old copy because when I got it, it had the booklet
