Daizenshuu 1: Complete Illustrations. ¥750 at the Book Off down the street from my apartment. Finally, a legitimate Japanese copy to replace the French edition and (presumably Chinese) bootleg Japanese edition that I have back in the US.
Now I only need 2 and 7 to complete my collection of the main books. Have still never seen a copy of 8, 9 or 10 in person.

Now I'm very interested. In what way would you be able to tell if your Daizenshuu was a bootleg Japanese edition?SaiyaJedi wrote:Daizenshuu 1: Complete Illustrations. ¥750 at the Book Off down the street from my apartment. Re: What's your most recent Dragonball purchase?
It's been a long time since I've looked at, but from memory, the interview and commentary pages were glossy like the rest of the book, and those pages in particular suffered in the reproduction. There was also some Chinese text on the copyright page, but I couldn't read Japanese either at the time, so I'm not sure what it said.Beji wrote:Now I'm very interested. That's precisely why ordinary men pursue the concept of perfection, it's infatuation. If something is truly perfect, that's IT! The bottom line becomes there is no room for imagination! No space for intelligence or ability or improvement! Do you understand? To men of science like us, perfection is a dead end, a condition of hopelessness. Always strive to be better than anything that came before you but not perfect! Scientist's agonize over the attempt to achieve perfection! That's the kind of creatures we are! IIRC, that film was sold at about 30,000 yen on Yahoo! Auctions. I bought DB episode 58 (Fuji TV's film for reruns) for 20,000 yen from the same seller.

Re: What's your most recent Dragonball purchase?
I recently just got the DBGT Complete Collection. I really only like the first few and last few episodes. But I got it because the price was too good to pass up. $28.00 on Amazon for the whole series! As CastorTroyAMV pointed out, that's about the price of just ONE DragonBox single!

Re: What's your most recent Dragonball purchase?
Picked up Daizenshuu 2 today. ¥500 at a Book-Off near one of the stations on my commute.
Still keeping my eyes peeled for 7, Extras 1 and 2, and Supplemental. Unfortunately, I think I've pretty much cleaned out all the used-book stores in the vicinity. May need to widen my search area.
On the bright side, my theatrical program collection is growing apace, with DB movie 3, and DBZ movies 2 and 10. I fear the sticking point may be the first two DB movies, however; I now know what their covers look like, but only through auctions and online sales that have already ended or are out of stock. The rest of the Z movies I need are available when I'm ready for them, though.
EDIT: Aaaand my purchase of the program for DB movie 3 fell through after the seller declared it out-of-stock after I'd already ordered it. I won't be charged for the thing, but still...

I looked around in Best Buy and bought Dragon Ball Z Kai Season 3.

That's really all there was so I purchased it. I'm not a big Kai fan though.

The last thing I bought was about 3 weeks ago. It's the Frieza spaceship camera. XD

Re: What's your most recent Dragonball purchase?
So, I wandered into the Book Off near my workplace because I was on an errand and it was on the route I needed to take; found Daizenshuu 6 and 7 near-instantly, completing my collection of the hardbound volumes. I also found the Akira Toriyama: The World — Anime Special magazine that came out (IIRC) around the time of Z movie 3 (it contains the one-shots Pink and Kennosuke-sama, which were made into animated featurettes for that particular season's all-Toriyama Toei Anime Fair).
Also, my wife went into labor with our second child, but that's a story for another time.
