Welcome! All I have to say is: enjoy the ride. Trust me, it's going to be amazing. :D
Usually goes by "Kevtrev" elsewhere online.
Draws comics that may or may not have been blatantly inspired by Akira Toriyama's manga.

Thoughts: When I saw the episode title screen with the name, I must admit I was alittle creeped. But besides that, I LOVED this episode! I'd love to see more of Goku and Bulma chillin in a house with their misadventures. And the fact that Goku is 14 stunned me. I thought he was Atleast 10! But hey, I guess I'll just play along. But really enjoyed the music again. And the credits theme! I'll Give You Romance is a darn good song I must say. But I must say I was looking forward to more between Goku and Pilaf's henchmen (Mai and the other one....does he have a name)? But since Pilaf has a ball, I'd guess we'd see more.

Predictions: I feel like this turtle has a big role in the next episode. Maybe he's taking them into a trap..? Maybe he has a Dragonball? Who knows. I expect to see Pilaf show up again next episode, but not get another ball. And I expect the gang to get another ball...but I'm not sure how.
I'm glad you're still enjoying it :D

What did you think to the "rude" comedy? I notice you said the episode title creeped you out a little bit, and a lot of people get some form of initial shock from how in-your-face some of the (sort of) sexual stuff is, especially in episode 2, I think.

As for your comment about the lack of interaction between Goku and Pilaf's minions, the reason that is is that, in case you don't know, the Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z TV shows are based on the Dragon Ball manga (comic), with extra things added in to fill out the time. In the original story, Pilaf and his gang aren't introduced until near the end of this story arc, but the TV series decided to add to it by having them featured throughout. However, that means that, until their first real appearance, their ability to have an impact on the plot is limited. Therefore, pretty much everything you see of them is going to have them more working behind the scenes and around what was in the original story.

I enjoy reading this thread so far. I hope to enjoy becoming a fan and I still remember when I first got into DB back in 2001. You could watch Dragon Ball Movie 1-3 if you want, but I don't think it's necessary since I remember they don't fit into the show time line at all.

But not yet, they're retellings of parts of the main series so there are spoilers :P

I know, but I mention it for future notice. The early episodes of Dragon Ball to me are always the best in my opinion. I think you might want to read the manga someday as well seeing that you enjoy the anime so far.

As for the movies:

My friend said I should watch them according to when they came out in Japan. So whenever I watch episode 43, then I'll watch Movie 1.

I'm about to watch episode 3, so expect a review soon!

Episode 3: Kame-Sen’nin’s Kinto-Un

Thoughts: Kame-Sen'nin is already my favorite character. He's freakin hysterical. And wow, I was stunned when I saw how strong how Goku was! I know he beat up those wolves and survived the hit by Bulma's car, but dang. He's quick! He took down that giant bear with one hit. Now he's got the Kinto-Un, so he's got more stuff to work with. And Bulma...she's quick to just lift up her shirt, not knowing what she's getting..and I'm not sure about Pilaf. Is he like an actual strong foe..? Or is he just stupid...

Predictions: I expect both Goku and Bulma AND Pilaf to find a Dragon Ball next episode. So they would have to possibly cross paths in order to get the last ball. Kame-Sen'nin will show up again, I hope..! He's too good of a character to be left out.

Your reviews have been a fun read so far.

Y'know, one of our fellow forum members, called Gyt Kaliba, did this same sort of thing on the FUNimation forums awhile back, and his reviews were always a joy to read (and after awhile, pretty much the only reason I would go to those forums, dispite being buggy-as-hell, and time consuming to log onto). In his case though, he was a dub fan seeing the Japanese version for the first time (mostly), and you're seeing the series for the first time, period, so it'll definitely be interesting and fun to see what a complete newcomer has to say about it.

Keep the reviews coming!! :)

Haha, pardon me, wasn't paying attention
Thanks! Because some scenes in this arc made me laugh simply because of acting.

Man, this is quickly becoming my favorite thread on the forum (Battle of the Gods thread is in close competition, but too much arguing about tangential stuff than movie news). It's like we get the Manga Review of Awesomeness all over again :D

In a way, I wish I could start over and rediscover the series for the first time haha. I started way back in 1998 or 1999. There's SO MUCH to watch/find out/know. It's awesome. Hang in there, it just keeps getting better and better. You're going to love this. I envy you!

Episode 4: The Kidnapping Demon, Oolong

Thoughts: This series is just starting to get hysterical. From the backstory of Oolong's transformations, to him falling out of the sky, to Goku not knowing the difference between male and female...wow. Hilarious. I was actually thinking Oolong would be strong and pose a threat to Goku..but I guess not. I'm loving what I've seen so far. Maybe Oolong will help the gang out. I feel like he's gonna be left behind though. Also, I noticed a distinct lack of Pilaf in this episode! Throws out my prediction of him finding a Dragonball, even though Bulma and Goku found one. Well, there's two left, and we know who has one of them...so.....epic battle between Goku and Pilaf? Who knows? Who gets their wish?!

Predictions: Hmmmm. I don't think the final ball will be found next episode. I think it will be along the lines of episode 2, where they just have a good time and chill without doing anything. I expect to see some more Pilaf because he's hilarious. And maybe a new enemy..but I feel like with Oolong it would be too many at once.

Like I said I'm loving the series, and maybe I can watch Episode 5 tonight!

Are you doing this on a generally one episode per day basis, or just whenever you happen to have the time?
