Re: Will Nicktoons stick with Dragon Ball?
I think music bands in anime and movie soundtracks seem to pretty rare now these days. DBZ Movie 4 and 5 came out in 2001 when those type of stuff was still common since Digimon: The Movie had a lot of 90's punk rock in it's soundtrack. I doubt Funi will hire someone like Disturbed again anytime soon.

Re: Will Nicktoons stick with Dragon Ball?
Now would be a perfect opportunity for them to pick up One Piece. I have no doubts that it couldn't hold the same viewers that watched DBZ Kai and DBGT. All Funimation would have to do is make some dialogue edits (I think they may have recorded some edited lines when they dubbing the first seasons anyway) and digitally erase some blood and they'd be good to go.
And just think, when Kai comes back, we could have Dragon Ball and One Piece back-to-back on the same channel, just like in Japan.

I rather have One Piece on Toonami since it would be uncut and they can have the whole Holy Shonen Trinity now on their lineup.
They can try Rob Zombie or Stone Sour. It's better then having Justin Bieber or The Jonas Brothers.Avenged wrote:I've always imagined they would use someone such as Avenged sevenfold or Linkin stinkin Park in a live action film or any other animated movies.

Can you explain this? Last I remember, far more people have access to Toonami on TV than Nicktoons.AgitoZ wrote:I would rather have One Piece on Nicktoons since it would be profitable.Hellspawn28 wrote:I rather have One Piece on Toonami since it would be uncut and they can have the whole Holy Shonen Trinity now on their lineup.

Thing is, nowadays, if you get Cartoon Network you probably get Nicktoons as well.CaBrPi wrote:Can you explain this? Last I remember, far more people have access to Toonami on TV than Nicktoons.
It doesn't matter anyways. OP will get more exposure in a better timeslot in a channel less people have than in a channel more people have but in a shittier timeslot.

Re: Will Nicktoons stick with Dragon Ball?
I'd prefer Slipknot over Stone Sour and White Zombie over Rob Zombie. As for the other two I will not name, I do not see them doing anything related to that kind of "pop" music. Should I even call it music?Hellspawn28 wrote:I rather have One Piece on Toonami since it would be uncut and they can have the whole Holy Shonen Trinity now on their lineup.

Re: Will Nicktoons stick with Dragon Ball?
You see, the whole Nicktoons vs Toonami debate for One Piece is a wash, at least in my opinion, for these reasons:
OP on Nicktoons:
Pros:
-They could air episodes 2-5 times a week, and got through a lot of episodes in a short period of time
-It would be heavily promoted (Nicktoons does a really good job at advertising 99% of their shows)
-It would air in prime time.
-It would fit right in with many of their other action related shows (Voltron, Ironman and of course DBZ Kai)
Cons:
-It would be edited, which, unfortunately, would drive people away even if the edits are done sparingly (look at people complaining about DBZ Kai
).
-Not as many people get Nicktoons as they do Cartoon Network.
-The openings and endings would be shortened more significantly than they would on Toonami).
OP on Toonami
Pros:rethat could watch it.
-OP on Toonami has the "nostalgia factor" going for it since it was a long runner and mainstay on the black for years, back in the day, which would draw viewers
-Toonami is an action-only block that is also airing two other long-running shounens right now, so course it would fit right in
Cons:
-It could only air once, maybe twice a week maximum (Toonami's hurting for money right now, and they said it does cost them to air more than one episode per week of one show, so it would more than likely only be once a week off the get-go)
-Toonami receives such little promotion on the channel as it is, seeing a One Piece promo at a wake-able hour would be highly improbable
-It would would most likely air after midnight (unless the block expand sometime soon, but that's also improbable)
-One Piece can seem a little "kiddy" at times and after all it is on [adult swim] (but the Toonami staff said that they are more concerned about airing an action block that has shows suited for all ages of action fans, and also just look at Sym-Bionic Titan and Thunder Cats 2011 on there now).
So, to me at least, it's six to one, half a dozen the other. Personally I'd like One Piece to be on Nicktoons so they could get throught the episodes quicker, but I also love Toonami and having OP back on there (and Uncut! )would be pretty awesome.

Re: Will Nicktoons stick with Dragon Ball?
I guess it depends on what provider you have, but with Comcast I didn't have Nicktoons in my basic cable package, I had to have digital starter to have it (the next one after basic).AgitoZ wrote:Nicktoons is not a premium cable channel.Daimakku wrote:Not always. It's the same thing with Frontier, the provider I have now.
Regular Nickelodeon is basic cable, Nicktoons is the next package after that, usually.
Re: Will Nicktoons stick with Dragon Ball?
When we had cable at my house, we had Nickelodeon, and not Nick West or NickatNite or Nick Jr. or Nickteens or Nicktoons.AgitoZ wrote:Nicktoons is not a premium cable channel.Daimakku wrote:Not always. Cartoon Network is a basic cable channel. NickToons is premium cable.
I don't know if that's changed, but I'm pretty sure Nicktoons is NOT a basic cable channel.
Re: Will Nicktoons stick with Dragon Ball?
If you're not getting the most basic of cable packages and your cable provider carries it then you should have Nicktoons. It is most certainly not a premium channel like HBO or Showtime.CaBrPi wrote:When we had cable at my house, we had Nickelodeon, and not Nick West or NickatNite or Nick Jr. or Nickteens or Nicktoons.

But, again, it doesn't matter. DBZ, OP, or any other property will have a better chance to shine on Nicktoons than on Toonami.

Re: Will Nicktoons stick with Dragon Ball?
For what it's worth Nicktoons is premium on Dish, but I don't think you need the absolute highest package for it.
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
Re: Will Nicktoons stick with Dragon Ball?
While Nicktoons is not a premium channel, ever since the 90's it was one of those special cartoon channels that just wasn't available on basic cable. The other was Toon Disney. "Premium" isn't the word, but Nicktoons, Toon Disney, and Boomerang for that matter, were and still are exclusive channels provided to only certain cable providers.AgitoZ wrote:Nicktoons is not a premium cable channel.Daimakku wrote:Not always. Re: Will Nicktoons stick with Dragon Ball?
When I said "premium" I meant anything that costs more than basic cable. Not pay channels like HBO or Starz.AgitoZ wrote:If you're not getting the most basic of cable packages and your cable provider carries it then you should have Nicktoons. Because you said nowadays if you get Cartoon Network you probably get Nicktoons as well, and that's not true. CN and Nick are easy access channels. Nicktoons is not.
By the way, I also dont agree that DBZ would do better on Nicktoons than Toonami satuday nights. Every show so far has trended on Twitter every saturday when the show is on. Everyone with cable/satellite gets CN, but thats not the case with Nicktoons.
Lots of people watch Toonami.
Re: Will Nicktoons stick with Dragon Ball?
Well, it would've helped if you knew what you meant when you said "premium".Daimakku wrote:When I said "premium" I meant anything that costs more than basic cable. Not pay channels like HBO or Starz.
But, you do. Nicktoons and its kindred are becoming more and more accessible. It's not like Boomerang anymore where it had barely any original programming and advertising, cable companies and sponsors want to support it.Daimakku wrote:Because you said nowadays if you get Cartoon Network you probably get Nicktoons as well, and that's not true. Trending on Twitter does not equal profitability.Daimakku wrote:By the way, I also dont agree that DBZ would do better on Nicktoons than Toonami satuday nights. Every show so far has trended on Twitter every saturday when the show is on.

It's a basic channel here in NY. Shit, I'm not paying for anything more than basic cable.CaBrPi wrote:When we had cable at my house, we had Nickelodeon, and not Nick West or NickatNite or Nick Jr. or Nickteens or Nicktoons.AgitoZ wrote:Nicktoons is not a premium cable channel.Daimakku wrote:Not always. Re: Will Nicktoons stick with Dragon Ball?
After seeing their airing of the Bardock special (which besides inconsistently leaving his scar there also had various scenes of injured Bardock dripping blood from himself), I believe they can get away with more violence than they usually do.
