Which DragonBall Z Kai releases have Kenji Yamamoto's music?

Discussion specifically regarding the "refreshed" TV version of DBZ created in Japan for its 20th anniversary, including individual threads for each episode.

Which DragonBall Z Kai releases have Kenji Yamamoto's music?

Post by ImmenseDragonBalls » Fri Dec 21, 2012 6:14 pm

I was researching which releases had the Kenji Yamamoto music and I found out that only the first release of volumes 1-4 has the Yamamoto music. However when I went in to a local store that sells anime DVD's I found that volume 5 DBZ Kai on Blueray had the Yamamoto Music (it say's so on the back cover in small print).
They only had that one volume in blueray so I could not see if the 6-8 blueray volumes had the Yamamoto score.
I have yet to open it to see if it does actually have Yamamoto's music on it.

WTF?

Do all the first blueray releases from 1-8 contain Yamamoto's music?

I'm just asking because I like the Yamamoto score so much better then Kikuchi's and I would ideally like to have all volumes of DBZ kai with Yamamoto's music.

I already own volumes 1-4 with Yamamoto's music and potentially volume 5 with his music.

Only volume 1-4 have Yamamoto music, 5-8 only have Kikuchi music, there was a limited release of Season One (With is Part 1 and 2 put together) that had Yamamoto music, but it got out of shelves very fast.

Doesn't include the quote, un-quote season packs but it's nice have this information in a visual display.

Some, if not all, of the "Part" 5-8 releases still have Kenji Yamamoto's name printed on the back, but his music is NOT contained therein.

And, of course, all of FUNimation's "season" re-release sets* also contain the Shunsuke Kikuchi replacement score (which my graphic does not yet cover, but I can definitely update it).

* Minus that first "season" set that came out and was replaced when they more formally did the "season" line.

(Will move thread to Kai sub-forum)

Do you know where I could buy the later Japanese bluerays with yamamoto's music?

They're out of print (the Yamamoto-based stuff, anyway). Second-hand market is your only bet.

Well, and bootlegs, but...don't support those. Just don't.
A "rather haggard" translation of a line from Future Gohan in DBZ, provided to FUNimation by Toei:
"To think of fighting that is this fun...so, it was pleasant fight, as many as, therefore is a feeling which is good the fight where."

It was just Part Five that FUNimation kept Kenji Yamamoto's name printed on the cover/slipcover, other than this, the other parts six to eight are credited to Kikuchi and use his music only too.

OP @ You'd be better purchasing the Japanese Kai releases so check the JP auction sites, do remember that there's newer copies so they could have the replacement music.
FUNimation 2015 Releases I want:
- Kai 2.0 on Blu-ray
