Actually, this movie shouldn't be the last time they meet up, 5 years before the End of Z, otherwise Bulma should be round and pregnant ready to give birth to Bra, or already with infant Bra in arms. I do believe this could be just before that: 4 years after Buu, 6 years before the End of Z. This is why I'm crossing fingers that Bulma is going to give Vegeta the news that they'll have a new bundle of joy during the party + Videl/Gohan announce they are getting married.

Not if it's one or two years after the end of Boo. Everyone is speculating the movie is set three of five years after, but it was never said how many years after the end of the Boo Saga it was set. I still think it's only a few months after (or before) the JSAT special.

Agreed, though I'm still thinking it has to be no more than 4 or 5 years after Boo's defeat, since neither Pan nor Bra are taken into consideration here. Not really sure I'd call 4 or 5 'several' years either, but...it is what it is.

This whole "transformations" thing is an argument of semantics. What is and isn't considered a transformation when it comes to Dragon Ball is all pretty arbitrary, much like the naming of Super Saiyan 4. We create distinctions for our own benefit, but if you go by real life definitions, a lot of things in Dragon Ball are transformations.

Videl's hair (and possibly Kuririn's too) is kind of the biggest indication to me that it's post-"Ossu!"; I mean, with Yamcha you can argue that "oh he grew it out and then cut it again", but Videl's hair near-matches her end of Z cut (where in "Ossu!" she's still got her Buu arc haircut). With short hair, it's kind of different.

Actually, Yamcha's hair is long at the end of Z now that I think about it; it was pulled into a long ponytail if I remember right.

Even though I know connections between any of the specials are relative, I really hope they carry over from the Jump 08 special's Goku's boredom-induced hobby of entertaining himself by messing with Vegeta. I adored that. It was like watching Vegeta's quest for attention from his kingdom backfire gloriously on him. I mean, this would obviously be something that would happen before the threatening part of the plot goes down, but I'd still really like to see it.

Yes, Japanese has several ways and words to count different things. It makes my mind implode. Maybe Herms can gives us some insight in the word that was used on that text.


Anyway, my prediction is that it could be 3-4 years AB (after Buu).

Age 777 (3 years AB) - Trunks would be 11 and Goten 10. That would be as far as I would push it visual wise... because they still look "small". Do you think they would pick this date because of the "777"? o_O

Age 778 (4 years AB) - This is the one year that has all the amazing potential with Bulma pregnant of Bra and her birth + Gohan and Videl's wedding.

Several years can be around 6 - 8 years ago. When someone is talking about something from several years ago then I often think around 2004 - 2006.

Kind of wish I'd seen that first on the movie site and not elsewhere, because when I saw there was a news update I briefly hoped it would be related to the movie's plot (only to have my hopes dashed pretty quickly).

If there's no official year given, I'm sticking with 3 years after Boo, or Age 777. It fits well without any continuity errors, like any pregnancies, marriages or Trunks' physique, which should be getting closer to this soon.

I wasn't saying he should look different by now, just now he should be getting closer to puberty and such.

Though, Bussani pointed out that it was actually 14 instead of 12, so I guess they could have more breathing room with the timeline, I suppose.
