Death Battle! Goku VS Superman Disscussion Thread
Re: Death Battle! Goku VS Superman Disscussion Thread
So if they're using GT and SSJ4 Goku... what about the ending where he merges with the Dragon Balls (magical items)?
Or are we simply gonna ignore that.

Obviously that wont fly since that would kill Superman outright assuming that somehow made Goku a walking magic thing. Death Battle tries to make the fighters as close to equal as possible while still deciding a winner.Gonstead wrote:So if they're using GT and SSJ4 Goku... what about the ending where he merges with the Dragon Balls (magical items)?

Re: Death Battle! Goku VS Superman Disscussion Thread
There is pretty much zero information as to what actually happens to Goku at the end of GT. Anything relating to him being more powerful than before is complete conjecture. Plus, if you're going to use some invincible immortal God Goku from the end then you'd have to grant Superman the same exact conditions, which is Superman Prime...the invincible immortal God. At that point it's not really Goku vs. Superman. Neither of those examples are who they are in the "present day" as it were.

Re: Death Battle! Goku VS Superman Disscussion Thread
They might mention Goku fusing with the dragon balls but I agree that they probably won't count that in the battle since we don't know anything about the effects and thats also not his normal thing. Though I wonder if they will talk about Superman's powers under different colored stars like a blue star. In the preview they say blue has double the color temperature and adds new abilities but don't really say anything else. I doubt he'll be fighting near a blue star or other colored stars but I'm a bit curious to what they would say.
Also while trying to find out details about the effects of different colored stars I found this other death battle type series on youtube. Nothing Dragonball yet but if you guys want to see a live action fight I bet they'll have something DBZ at some point. They base their fights on viewer votes but they do talk about character strengths as well. Their March video intrigues me since its going to be Superman vs Thor and I was just reading up on some of Thors crazier feats. Oh and these videos have girls in costumes and bikinis for no reason (well actually its to get views but I mean no reason that has to do with the fights)

Actually, from what I saw from the preview that got on Youtube, Supes was actually beating SSJ2 Goku hard until he pulled out the Power Pole, and the whole magic weakness came in. Still, I think it's too soon for the Sun Dip. Otherwise, SSJ3 won't be of much effect, and he'll have to end on SSJ4 (would have preferred to keep GT out of it, but if they do, they do).dbzfan7 wrote:So far they said the fight won't be before new years. So it is confirmed that:
Goku is not the vessel of the Dragon Balls,
Goku can't breath in space,
The battle will not end in a draw.
It is also expected that it shouldn't take many days for the Death Battle to be released. And wow, they are working for this for about two and a half years!

Actually it is possible to have a draw in Death Battle. The Koopa and the Goomba Death Battle ended in a draw.

This won't end in a draw. Everything I wrote in my previous post is official.

Looked more like to me Supes got a few shots in then Goku gets behind him and smacks him with the power poll. I don't see Supes sun dipping if he was still had the advantage. If he still had an advantage he would just grab Goku's arm, take the power pole, and throw the power pole into space. Supes holds back unless he needs to cut loose, which he usually does not like to do since he can cause destruction on earth. Why would let loose if he still had the advantage?Mewzard wrote:Actually, from what I saw from the preview that got on Youtube, Supes was actually beating SSJ2 Goku hard until he pulled out the Power Pole, and the whole magic weakness came in. Also Ben confirmed Goku can survive in space for sometime but he can't breathe in space.

Is that what happens? I haven't watched it yet because I'm waiting for the whole thing, but that's not how it's supposed to work. Goku's pole isn't enchanted to inflict damage or anything--it's just a stick that grows. You shouldn't be able to hurt Superman by hitting him with, say, a flying broomstick just because it's magic. A flight spell isn't going to damage him.Mewzard wrote:Actually, from what I saw from the preview that got on Youtube, Supes was actually beating SSJ2 Goku hard until he pulled out the Power Pole, and the whole magic weakness came in.

Re: Death Battle! Goku VS Superman Disscussion Thread
Even though I think Goku can beat current Superman, if they have Superman win, I'd still be happy. They seem to be putting so much time and effort into the project, you can't help but be appreciated of their work no matter who wins.
Re: Death Battle! Goku VS Superman Disscussion Thread
Yeah the power pole shouldn't matter much, Superman can usually take punches from Black Adam and Captain Marvel just fine and they're usually around his strength level and powered by magic. And in a crossover fight with Thor, Superman with one hand stops Thor from swinging Mjlonir and that hammer is made of a magic metal, and is enchanted by Odin who is one of the most powerful magic users there is (plus Thor is powerful with physical strength and magic to).Bussani wrote:Is that what happens? But I guess if the power pole is magically not able to break then it could increase Goku's hit but it sholdn't be a super-end-all magic hit.

He actually can't. Odin makes an exception in one of the crossovers, but as soon as the battle is over he fails to lift it.GS7X7 wrote:

Yeah, in JLA/Avengers. Odin made an exception because the circumstances were so dire that unless someone picked up the hammer right then and there everyone would be screwed. Thor even says that, while Odin may be strict, he's not stupid.Saiga wrote:He actually can't. Seems like actual worthiness (not like "the world is about to end so hurry up and pick up the damn thing" worthy) is related to Norse values since Captain America is worthy to lift Mjolnir and, for the most part, there aren't that many differences between Cap and Supes as far as personality goes aside from Cap having more of a soldier's mindset. I don't think anyone has quite pegged what constitutes "worthy" but the best guess people have put forth is that it has something to do with the Norse idea of an ideal warrior, so things like a "warrior's spirit" and the like start to come into play in addition to standard values like morality, compassion, courage, etc. Superman fights when necessary but doesn't like doing it and isn't particularly interested in bettering himself at it unless it has to do with protecting people.
In other words, Goku would probably be worthy to wield Mjolnir in Odin's eyes while Superman (and Gohan, for example) would not be.
Re: Death Battle! Goku VS Superman Disscussion Thread
Does that mean the random paramedic who once handed Thor his hammer had a warrior mindset?
