Dragon Ball Kai: Parts 5-8 Discontinued?

Has FUNimation announced anything about discontinuing the rest of the collection from DBK Part's?

Not that I'm aware of.

Though I'm wondering, would they keep using the "parts" format far the domestic release of the Buu era or switch straight into the season set format?

They may be special order only. They do this sometimes with later season sets because they figure the only people who are going to buy them are people who own the first couple seasons or so. It's a marketing ploy, it saves them money because they don't have to produce a lot where half of them will just sit on the shelf in Best Buy for a couple years before they're sold.
