Daizenshuu information question

Post by Nazi Cola » Thu Jan 03, 2013 8:49 pm

I heard that the Daizenshuu states Guru's power was to trigger the unlocking of the user's power, that it didn't bring it out all at once. This person didn't specify which volume, but I don't think he'd lie; he is very knowledgeable IMO.

Does anyone know if this is valid? I tried checking but Kanzentai is finally void of the translations and I don't think Kanzenshuu has them.

Is this the quote you're looking for? It comes from daizenshuu 7's "Attack Dictionary" entry for "Drawing out Dormant Power":
Daizenshuu 7 wrote:This is a technique that draws out the dormant power that each person has. In The Eldest's case, he only triggers the drawing out of that person's dormant power; if there is no power sleeping inside that person, no change will occur. He is able to use this technique merely by holding his hand over the person's head. In the Elder Kaioshin's case, he is able to draw out a person's dormant power beyond their limits, but this requires him to do a dance, and takes over 20 hours.
For the Great Elder, this particular entry does not specify whether or not it brings it out to any limit or specific level, just that it draws it out. It's for the Elder Kaioshin that it specifically notes the dormant power is brought out "beyond their limits".

I always assumed that the characters had dormant power that exceeded their limits and that age or physique were factors in the limitation for them unlocking 100% of their dormant power. For example, Gohan has been shown to tap into his enormous potential but it's never been his maximum potential. As he's slowly grown up the limitation on accessing his dormant power has decreased allowing for him to use more of it. But as we know Gohan didn't keep in shape during the years of peace so that has put a limit on him. For Elder Kaioshin to release Gohan's potential it just meant that Gohan had access to all of his dormant power because the powerup disregarded the limitations put in place by the body. So when Guru unlocked Gohan's power on Namek he only received a fraction of his dormant power because that was most amount of dormant power he could use with his current limit in place.

That was it. Thank you very much.

Also of note, I do remember there being an entry for him and his abilities in Daizenshuu 4's racial characteristics section. Of course, I no longer have access to it, so I can't tell you if it says anything different. =P

I think it just says the same sort of stuff.
He can draw out dormant power to beyond its limits.
Through dancing and meditation, he can draw out one's dormant power to beyond its limits. It has the shortcoming that since his mediation just looks like he's passing the time in weird ways, dancing oddly, and falling asleep, those watching are made uneasy.
In order to draw out Gohan's dormant power, the Elder Kaioshin circles around him.
This rather spirited dance for someone his age is a ritual for drawing out one's dormant power.

Oh, sorry. I did wonder, but there isn't much at all about the Namekian Elder's ability in that section, so I thought you must have meant the Kaioshin.
He can do anything just by holding his hand over someone's head.
The Eldest's hand has unique abilities completely impossible for other people, such as being able to draw out another person's dormant power, read their thoughts, and search their minds for events they have experienced.
He draws out the dormant power that sleeps within other people.
