Dragon Ball Dreams
Dragon Ball Dreams
So last night I had a pretty strange dream that I was in a local store and noticed they were selling some anime box sets, looking through them I found some weird looking Dragonball Z boxsets, one of the movies and another of the 'Fusion Saga'. I picked up the Movies box set which was £20.99, it had pretty good box art to be honest and said on it that it contained an exciting new cast. So I got home and started to watch it and it was pretty cool, it had Japanese audio with English subs or the choice of a new English dub. On top of this the battles became interactive and you could affect the outcome with your remote, which was pretty weird. I couldn't wait to post them on Kanzenshuu but then I unfortunately (or fortunately depending on how such a release would be received) woke up.
I can also remember a dream I had as a kid where I was on Namek with Vegeta, Gohan and Krillin. They were going to fight the Ginyu Force but when they started to fly off I realized I couldn't fly and woke up.
I'm also pretty sure I have had a couple of dreams with the women of DB that probably aren't so PG13.
So, I'm sure this topic has come up before, but I wondered if any of you guys have had any Dragon Ball related dreams ?

Re: Dragon Ball Dreams
I've had a partially Dragon Ball related dream before. It was one of the weirdest dreams I ever had, actually.
I was on planet Namek, hiding from Freeza, just like Gohan and Kuririn did when the village was being raided. I remember this being genuinely scary and lasting quite a while. Eventually I was caught and put on a train that would take me to one of Freeza's prisons (sure, whatever...), and while on that train I met Michael Schofield, who said he would help me to escape. He said, "first, we have to do this", and showed me that be leaning to one side, I could cause the train to lean to the side as well, so if I lean to the right the whole thing leans to the right until the right-hand windows are just above the road (because the train was now driving on a road). I was leaning to the right and left, dodging oncoming traffic, Michael Schofield had now disappeared from the dream and the train was now runaway. I leaned over as the train slowed to go around a corner (while runaway?) and dropped out through the window. I ran off into a big field of tall grass next to the road, as I didn't want to be caught after making my escape. In the field I encountered my therapist, who had been waiting there me, and who then told me he could no longer help me. That's about as much as I remember.
So, it started out as Dragon Ball, but then it just got weird.

Re: Dragon Ball Dreams
And I thought my dreams were weird... I like the idea of Freeza having 'prisons', I'd like to see some fanart of Adolf Freeza.Fizzer wrote:I've had a partially Dragon Ball related dream before. It was one of the weirdest dreams I ever had, actually.

Re: Dragon Ball Dreams
I remember I had at least two dreams related to Dragon Ball (probably more, but two that I can remember right now).
One of them was unrelated to Dragon Ball at first but became unpleasant because of it later on...
There was some kind of party all over at my grandparents' town (meaning outside and inside each house and appartment), I was sitting on the couch, and I don't remember much of that dream, but basically, Freezer ended up being seatting next to me and took a certain pleasure in twisting my right wrist. I was so in pain that I was on my knees and kind of silently yelling while the music was playing loud. And Freezer had that little laugh, not the evil "wah ha ha ha!!!" laugh but more like the amused "ho ho ho..." laugh, constantly. I couldn't break free from his grasp. When thinking about the scene, I have the feeling it was his way to entertain himself at the party, he took some time to rest on the couch a bit and found amusing to twist my wrist and see if it ends up being torn off in the meantime. When I woke up, I thought "and they say you can't feel pain in a dream, huh?..."
The other one I remember was more pleasant and was about me suddenly finding a new fully colored edition of the manga in some shop.
When I woke up, I realized that what was apparently considered as totally natural coloring in my dreams actually looked more like marker pen coloring.
But in my dream world and scenario, they were really, officially and beautifully colored, for me and for everyone else checking them out!
You know, dreams... It's often that you wake up and think "if that had happened for real, I wouldn't have thought or reacted the way I did in that dream!" What seems totally natural to your alter ego might not seem natural to you when back in the real world!
From time to time, I can fly in my dreams, but often having a little trouble mastering it or maintaining my flying for long. This may or may not come from the daily Dragon Ball stuff I see.

Re: Dragon Ball Dreams
I have had several DBZ dreams before, but I forgot most of them. Usually someone pops up in the dream, just to disappear soon after.
From the ones I remember:
1) The Z gang was fighting Aliens (as in xenomorphs) in another planet. There was this huge hive and we needed to get to the center to save someone. Everyone was in their Android Saga versions. Looking back now, I guess those aliens and Cell's first form had some similarities. Anyway, Gohan was very worried about something and I tried calm him... and I touched his cheek. And I felt it. Like, I actually felt his warm face in my hand. I was so shocked that I woke up.
2) I dreamed the DBZ world 30 years after the End of Z. I would wander through "West City" that looked more like Tokyo. I eventually found Vegeta who had given up on fighting and became a psychologist and would help me to get back to my reality. Yeah...
3) Most recently, when I started re-watching the series again, I dreamed I had to meet the Z-gang at Capsule Corp and I knew how to fly. Can't remember anything else, but the flying part was... simply amazing.

Re: Dragon Ball Dreams
I've had some crazy Dragon Ball dreams back in the day, not so much now. Only two I can clearly remember though:
1. I was dating Android 18 (this one was awesome)
2. I was a kid in the normal world who could charge up mini kamehameha's. My friends were amazed.
All I can remember really lol

Re: Dragon Ball Dreams
My dreams are ALWAYS about projects I'm working on going horribly wrong. Right now I'm making a Frieza cosplay, and working on Dragon Ball panels for a convention. My latest dream was that the cosplay fell apart during the panel and everyone left, and then I had no more clothes left for the con!
Re: Dragon Ball Dreams
Yesterday, I had a dream about an abandoned Zellers having DragonBall Z laserdiscs on display, on sale for only $14.27, I reached to grab one, then I was awoken by a snowplow.
Before yesterday, I had a dream that I was in Capsule Corporation Studios, only it was a school of medicine, and a practice hospitals for all the interns from my University. I was walking along the hallways, and halfway near the giant hall and the entrance was a massive bookshelf filled with my collection of DragonBall paraphernalia; DVDs, CDs, VCDs, LaserDiscs, Manga, Comics by Viz, and I was like 'OMG', people passing by could totally swipe my things. I got to the bookshelf, and then I woke up.
Creepy dreams. I wish I could collect all the Japanese LaserDiscs with dual-audio and supersweet boxart.

To be perfectly honest, I couldn't care less about the fans a re-issue might alienate because if all they're concerned about is being able to scalp the people who were either unaware of the Dragon Boxes or couldn't afford them at the time, they're just leeches and deserve to have their greed backfire on them.
Re: Dragon Ball Dreams
I had one with me going SSJ with a look similar to SSJ2 adult Gohan but with the hair bang being at a 90 degree angle for some reason. In that dream I had a hard time flying and doing the Kamehameha
Why Dragon Ball Consistency in something such as power levels matter!

Re: Dragon Ball Dreams
The only dbz dream I can ever remember having involved a ghost problem of some sort in the student services center(a big building) at my old college. All I remember was being with Goku and Vegeta outside the building and Vegeta was infected by them somehow and was painfully morphing back and forth between himself and some kind of digital green goo form. I was very saddened to see this. I think I had another dbz dream at one point but I don't remember it. I envy you all tremendously.

YES. Vegeta is definitely my favorite fictional narcissistic personality.soulnova wrote:2) I dreamed the DBZ world 30 years after the End of Z. Re: Dragon Ball Dreams
Flying always starts off good, you start flying at super sonic speeds with the ki aura surrounding you, then when you think about it more like ''I'm flying! I'm flying!'' then it starts to fail.

Re: Dragon Ball Dreams
I had a dream a month ago I met Vegeta. He was actually really cool, but calm. I even made fun of him for being so full of himself when Cell was around, he just kinda laughed a bit and basicly agreed.
Re: Dragon Ball Dreams
Not sure if you would really count this as a Dragonball dream, but last night I had a dream where I was Gohan and my dad was Goku. Neither of us actually acted like our characters, we just looked like them. Any way, apparently the Apocalypse was happening, the power was out everywhere on earth, so dad and I go into a bunker underground. The next thing I know I'm sitting in my armchair at home on my laptop, I look out the window and theirs a black and white forest outside. Suddenly the Lorax (you know, from Dr. Suess) walks past the house so I go to look at him, but right when I get to the window the most horrible noise I'd ever heard hits me (just imagine both of your eardrums rupturing at the same time). After that I woke up. I have weird dreams.
Re: Dragon Ball Dreams
Seems like a lot of people dream about flying, funny really because I only started flying in dreams a few years ago when I did some reading on lucid dreaming. But whenever I fly in dreams it is in the same style as DB, that is just the only way my brain can imagine flight being possible whereas any other person might imagine wings or having to swim through the air.
Also it seems that there are a lot of dreams with Vegeta in, I wonder why this is. Maybe because he is someone we might like to meet or seems the easiest to simulate in our heads. For me the absence of Goku in dreams just seems to replicate the feeling that he was absent through the show, he was always off doing something else and came in later on to fight.

Re: Dragon Ball Dreams
Actually, DBZ wasn't the first one with that kind of flying. Disney's Peter Pan also had a similar style and the first one I watched.
In fact, before DBZ, I once dreamed I met Peter Pan and we had to fly through a big Volcano. My "magical flying" failed and I had swim through LAVA. Somehow I was not consumed by it. I thought it was because I still had the magical dust on me but the flying was just not working properly. *shrugs*
Other times the wind would sweep me up away... like Mary Poppins' umbrella but with my school uniform's skirt.
That was more like gliding but still pretty cool. I just needed to catch the air currents to stay on the air.
More recently the movie Chronicle showed us pretty much how DBZ flying would actually look in real life. I freaking loved it.

Now, I guess DBZ flying is just more practical in my dreams. If I had the chance for only ONE power, it would be flying, no contest. I actually liked Videl because we shared the same wish to learn to fly.
