Having Bils come and blow away the good guys would've been bad and bizarre marketing.

Why?

Because for a shonen like Dragon Ball where who the good guys are and who the bad guys are clear as day, it's only natural that they'd make Freeza look like a small fry to promote a new big bad for our heroes to take down. It's all to amp up B*s.

See GYT! Even you have gone further than me. I have all the Dragon Boxes, every FUNi single, VHS, ect. I am up to "ONLY" owning them 4 times now. I have never and refuse to ever own Kai. Unless, the price goes down to under $10 per season. Then and only then would I buy it just to hear the new dub.

Well, my 'five times' is counting even the tapes I have where I would tape episodes off of TV. I've had some episodes that way, then they were upgraded to official bought tapes, then some DVD singles, then the Season Sets, and then the Dragon Box. Gah!

EDIT: On a side note, we now have bunch of different DB Wikia has decided to call the new villains Bills and Wiss. So now we have people calling them "Birusu and Uisu", "Bils and Whis", and now "Bills and Wiss." Be interesting to see what Funi goes with when the film inevitably reaches the US.

Yeah, I did that too on CN. I just never counted those since I didn't pay for anything. Had I bought the Kai releases it would be 5x now.

I would like to add that when I first heard about this release, I thought to myself "Damn, another DBH tie in to make them more money. It will just end up like the Bardock SP." It has kinda gone both ways since then. Not only does this seem like a decent movie, with a decently seeming storyline, it does indeed tie in to DBH. Now, was that planned? I bet it was before it started. Can we prove it? No. Do I care at this point? No.

It's weird, I don't follow the animators at all, even with domestic animation. My interests lie with the directors and actors, which we pretty much have completely announced now (for the original version anyway). I'm hoping we do get some more stuff announced on the animation team though, because that does bring out stuff that is pretty interesting to read others talk about, even if I have absolutely no clue who half the people listed are usually.

Mein child, the pursuit of knowledge shall lead one to depths once thought to never be obtainable. But no, really, this side of the fandom is awesome. We already know Shida Naotoshi is involved, so we can expect something like this. I'm hoping Yamamuro managed to ask Kurita Shin'ichi back (I think he did Gokuu versus the Dragon Ball Heroes characters in the Ultimate Blast Opening). Assuming Oonishi Ryou had any time after working on One Piece Film Z, I'm hoping he'll do a battle cut. His work on Episode of Bardock was the best part of the special.

I'm pretty sure we will also see some Shimanuki Masahiro, too. He hasn't been in a lot of the recent Toei television shows. Tate Naoki (Dragon Ball Z, One Piece and Misc.) hasn't been around much, either, so hopefully he has done some key animation for Battle of Gods, too. Heck, maybe Hisada Kazuya managed to sneak away from One Piece to do a cut (not that he's the beast of an animator he used to be anymore).

Don't get me wrong, I'm not disparaging people into the animators at all. I've got an old friend that follows all that kind of stuff, and can actually remember off of the top of his head who animated specific tiny little scenes in episodes. It boggles my mind. I seem to recall voice actors were his weakness though, and I could boggle his mind with my memory on that kind of thing at times. It's just a different strokes for different folks kinda thing.

That said though, I would love any of those people you listed to be working on this movie, based on what I saw in those links. Those were all great scenes (I especially loved the Raditz stuff, I forgot how beautiful some of that was) that I'd love to see that much care and attention put into this new movie.

Come to think of it - do we know where the money that Toei got for the movie, from that one award or whatever, is going? The extra budget they got from the government due to DBZ's status, and Fox's involvement, or whatever it was. I'm thinking some of it will go to promotion, but I'm hoping a large chunk goes into animation to make this thing as pretty as can be.

Is it wrong to hope that Nakatseru will be back? I hope he does. He's one of my favorite animators.

He hasn't been involved with One Piece for a while, so it's possible Yamamuro asked him back to do some key animation. I've never really felt Nakatsuru was very good when it came to movement, so I'm hoping he's not involved with any fight scenes in place of a better animator.
