It does, but that's not really relevant. What the GT perfect files say is wrong because it's... well... wrong! They say nobody turned Super Saiyan 2 in the show. But Goku turned Super Saiyan 2 in the show. I can't find any other way to explain this.

Now, what is there with-in the cartoon to suggest Gokuu is actually using Super Saiyan 2, when near as any of us can tell, no character model even exists for such a form.

Both are official products. Of course, we're still faced with the question as to whether or not the cartoon is being properly interpreted. The Perfect Files are most clear that nobody uses Super Saiyan 2 in the cartoon. The cartoon is not so distinct in its testimony.

I said 'character model', meaning I'm referring to the cartoon as produced in 1996-1997.

I meant both being right on the same topic, which they disagree on.

We cannot define that they are actually disagreeing. Nobody refers to the Super Saiyan 2 form in the cartoon. As Gokuu powers up their is a slight change in his hair for a brief moment. That's no indication that Super Saiyan 2 is being used.

It's not just any hair change, it's his Super Saiyan 2 hairstyle and it was identified as such in the original manga. Though we can't be sure that the sparks are a sign of SS2, the hair definitely is.

I have to agree with Saiga for once. Goku did turn SSJ2 in the show. It was so obvious. Goku's hair had a fewer bangs which was exactly the same in DBZ. What Perfect File said was wrong. Didn't the Daizenshuu also have some contradictions too? If so, then Perfect File can't be trusted too.

For the record, Goku also used SSJ2 to further transform into SSj3 against Baby on his third encounter.

The reason I think that Gokū actually went SSJ2 there is because it was exactly SSJ hairstyle → SSJ2 hairstyle. I've analized that moment and can say that it wasn't simply a hair push-up because of powering up (or just didn't look so), because while all the hair seemed to have been pushed up at least a bit, exactly those few from which we identify Gokū's SSJ2 form were left hanging.
