What's with this music placement?
To me, it just feels really unfitting for the moment it's placed into.

Re: What's with this music placement?
This "unfitting" moment has been already discussed a number of times. I personally think this is not as extremely unfitting as some people claim. Calm music can occasionally fit desperate moments and make them "this is the end"-ish. I don't say M1420 perfectly works that way in the scene, but I do understand what Shigeru Miyashita wanted to do.
Re: What's with this music placement?
Indeed. In fact, I'd argue the scene in question isn't apocalyptic enough for the track. It'd be a perfect fit for something like the scene where Freeza attempts to blow up Nameck at the beginning of his battle with SSJ Goku, and from the looks of it actually succeeds, however.

This is nothing compared to the Dragon Ball Z Kai ( 1-98 ) Replacement Score .

Re: What's with this music placement?
It is not unfitting for me in any way. I can see this piece being used in both a scene where doom is impending and hope is lost (like this one, showing that Cell is about to unleash his absolute power) and when the final nostalgic victory is about to come (Genkidama against Kid Boo).

I don't find this part to be out of place. I think it kind of makes the sacrifice more emotional.

Re: What's with this music placement?
The track fits the scene itself, but it should stop playing before Goku arrives at Kaio's planet and Cell begins yelling "kusooooo!!". Cursing with calm music feels really odd. Kai has so many "droning-on" moments like this, regardless of which version it is.Insertclevername wrote:kei17 wrote:TheRed259 wrote:http://youtu.be/xOTlIvAJaEk?t=1m8s

Re: What's with this music placement?
It's fitting for me, although with the English dub voices it's unsuitable and distracting.
If you want actual totally unfitting music placements, then go with DB Kai Replacement Soundtrack.

Re: What's with this music placement?
My God. This is why I hate the replacement score in Kai. Kikuchi's music was fine in Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z but the placement is terrible in Kai.
Re: What's with this music placement?
I've got to agree. Perhaps the editing could've been a bit tighter, but I've always loved how the scene transitions from that piece from the fourth movie it to the Genki-dama piece from the seventh film. I like to think that Miyashita was using the piece to contrast the prior's tone. In other words, the first piece represents how terrifying Cell's power is while the second represents the 'beauty' of the idea of a 'perfect strength'.kei17 wrote:This "unfitting" moment has been already discussed a number of times. Gotta love Gohan's theme being played for Piccolo's appearance... >_>

Re: What's with this music placement?
I hate Kai's replacement track. It was poorly placed and made me almost ditch the show. If it weren't for the superior english dub I would have left it. The Japanese version suffered the most though.
Why Dragon Ball Consistency in something such as power levels matter!

Re: What's with this music placement?

Re: What's with this music placement?
In my opinion , it's too sad and it doesn't fit the scene .
Re: What's with this music placement?
I've never heard anyone complaining about that scene except for you. Though, I admit that the music placement for DBZ movie 9 is kind of odd compared to the other movies.TheRed259 wrote:Similar occasion : http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pl ... wkI#t=216s

Really ? I do find it out of place .kei17 wrote:I've never heard anyone complaining about that scene except for you. Though, I admit that the music placement for DBZ movie 9 is kind of odd compared to the other movies.
Nevertheless , they could have avoided using the same track twice .
