Why does Krillin remind me of Tenchi so much now............
Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2013 Movie Thread: "Battle of Gods
Because he somehow ends up with the hotties despite having no outstanding physical or mental capabilities.hulkty wrote:Why does Krillin remind me of Tenchi so much now............

I kid, I kid.
But man, Videl definitely looks a lot better with the longer hair there.
Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2013 Movie Thread: "Battle of Gods
But I still like her more with the original long hair.

I know this is gonna sound kind of random, but the use of the English plural (gods) and then going out of its way to do the something similar in Japanese later on in the title (Kami to Kami) suggests there's more than one of them encountered in the movie. I wonder who the other one they're suggesting takes part in the "battle" is, if not Kaio-sama or Dende. (It does lead me to think Uisu is one, or if not him than whoever Birusu's "creation" counterpart would be.)
Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2013 Movie Thread: "Battle of Gods
Maybe Gokuu is being considered a 'god' in a more poetic manner? That or the God of Creation is an unseen force in the movie.

I also think Goku is considered a "god" of martial arts, a martial arts legend in the universe.

Anyone else surprised at the lack of actual movie-specific merchandise? I guess we'll start hearing about more during February, but right now we've only got a CD single, a line of figures and some food promotions. True, we have the coloured Manga and the Chouzenshuu, but that isn't directly related to the movie.
I really hope they start going all out on advertising and stuff. We're getting dangerously close to release date and it doesn't really feel like Japan is about to bubble over with excitement; that's what the rest of the world's doing, and they're the ones that can't watch it.
But then again, I'm in NZ so I don't know shit. Maybe people are dancing to Head Cha-La in the streets right now and I don't know because I'm basing this on what I find on Google.
I'm not really familiar with the way "Pre-Anime Movie hype" works, so I'll just stand by and observe how things play-out as we head towards March.

I wonder if we'll get an "official movie guide" magazine like with Z movies 12 and 13. Shueisha did it with both One Piece movies overseen by Eiichirō Oda ( Strong World and Z ), and both came with loads of character designs, interviews with the cast and creator, and other behind-the-scenes information.
Actually, if one of these comes out, I may be crying for mercy in terms of the translation work.

Yeah, I'm guessing Vegeta met with Bills when he first came to Earth after Namek, Bills was looking for Goku and Vegeta told him that Goku had died with Freeza on Namek.JulieYBM wrote:Since we can't see the shoulder strap Vegeta's armor looks a lot like the the one he used during the Freeza fight, only with a light-blue undersuit.

That's it. *flies away to Japan*
Check out Journey's End, a short story of Goku and Vegeta's final days. "Time is running out for the last two Saiyans"

I was actually checking CDJapan last night looking for the movie's soundtrack's cd listing. I found none.

And while I do realize that it's easy to just re-release stuff, or make additions to current stuff, I'm really wanting movie-specific merchandise too.
I feel awful in that I can't remember when OPZ's big merch push arrived; I followed that film's leading-up-to pretty closely, but I guess the info just didn't stick with me afterward.
My only hope is that since BOG's release date is 3/30, practically on the borderline of April, that they're just holding off until some time next month to start releasing stuff. I get that Shueisha's being super-strict with spoiler-releases, but the lack of tie-ins is just making me sad atm and I hope that spoilers aren't the reason for them not releasing more tie-in stuff. Even the KFS toys are using art from before they even announced what the movie was about.
I would pre-order this theoretical book so fast. I've flipped through the Strong World one, it's really nice stuff.SaiyaJedi wrote:I wonder if we'll get an "official movie guide" magazine like with Z movies 12 and 13. What does she say? (referring to the movie lines.)
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.
Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

Wow, when someone famous/popular works on something like Dragon Ball, they always say, "oh, I'm a big fan, I'm so happy to be part of this!". But for me, that's just something they say, and not necessarily true. Nakagawa has said the same thing about so many series (last I heard her say this was when it was announced she was part of the cast for Saint Seiya Omega), that I wasn't too convinced by her sincerity. But seeing her cry because she's about to be part of Dragon Ball history (I'm guessing that's why she's crying, anyways), wow, that's a good way to convince me!
Oh, and that video only shows Nakagawa, here's Matsumoto doing her lines, and a special guest after that

Yes, Goku visited me once. He turned to me while I was still speechless, and said, "You've drank too much"...

*Is so happy for these two; they both seem so thrilled to get to do this. Matsumoto bouncing around with excitement after reading her lines, Nakagawa's fish having a character-voice (one I didn't expect, I'm now curious to see what this fish looks like. XD ) and then later freaking out while talking to Nozawa.*
What an interesting trio these three make.
