I'm looking forward for this, the colors look awesome!

Nope. Only in the anime.
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.

Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

They've got to have decent security, they won't let me buy a subscription because I don't live in the USA / Canada. I want ot hand them $26 a year until they finish DBZ. I've got a question though, how do their digital downloads work, is it a file that has to be used by a specific program or is it something like Adobe PDF where your phone and PC etc can open it. Is there an option to print?
They don't do PC digital downloads - you view pages with a web browser and Flash, and you can download them to an iPad/Android.

I'm wondering what Viz will price these volumes if they ever bring them over, and what size they will be. Will we be getting Vizbig prices for the same size as a regular Tankobon? For a Kanzenban-sized release? Or something closer to the Japanese release? Will they be cheaper than that? More expensive? Will this lead Japan to make full color more common, and will Viz bring more full color releases over if so?

This is leaving me with so many question. I can't wait to see the first chapter finally come out. I haven't re-read the manga in quite a while, I was overdue to anyways, so this will be a good chance to get through the Z portion at a slow, but steady pace (this will take quite a few years to go through, lol).

If they're going to also end up doing the Dragon Ball section as well, I wonder if Viz will put it up as well...

Physical copies will probably run from fifteen to twenty dollars. Black and white releases are at ten right now, after all.

So you view it like any other internet page? Can you save the page to view offline or do you always have to be connected to the internet to view it?

Thanks by the way.
Next to get; Leged of Saiyan figures and Freeza's force

If anyone sees
Any of the Legend of Saiyan line going cheapish
Or any other Banpresto DBZ figure :)

If anyone has a cooler steelbook dvd that wants to sell it (prefer new but used is fine) when/if the dragon box movies comes out contact me :)

I highly doubt it. Unless it sets the world on fire it won't do much of anything. I'm thinking it'll do better here in the States but no well enough to encourage rights holders in Japan to change their ways. Unless you mean re-releases, which I could maybe see.

I'm really interested into how well this will do. With the US being well over saturated with versions already and Japan already having a near perfect release, I'm curious to see how both markets will respond.
If you're not here soon... GET ON!

For full color needs Japan already has the anime comics. They are pretty great. Better than the anime actually. For example, here are some photos of the French DBZ anime comic release:

A page of the anime comic compared to the actual manga:

Why the companies in the USA don't do a domestic release of some of these anime comics is something I don't really understand. Sure, its not the original manga art in color, but since they apparently choose carefully the best shots of the anime and take care in making the panels and shots really close to the manga, I think that shouldn't be a reason for not being fond of these anime comics.

Yeah, that was always weird in the anime that they made daylight fade by the time Goku arrived. Obviously, the events didn't last that long!
The Saiyans arrived at 11:43am if I remember well. Then they find the warriors pretty quickly, then there's the Saibaiman tournament, Nappa's rampage, the three hours wait, and then Goku probably arrives within half an hour.
All in all, I'd say it's about 4:00pm to 4:30pm when Goku's here, right in the middle of a sunny blue-sky afternoon, just like depicted on this full-color edition. 8)

That sucks, what do you do if you don't have Internet for a while for some reason?
Hopefully, the screen cap button's here to save the day.

Well, you have to have internet to get every new issue, so, if you don't have internet for a while, you might as well unsubscribe. However, you could always use free public internet or a cibercafe or something.

Anyway, due to piracy and illegal sharing, it becomes necessary to have things like this that at least make it harder to the average dude to share it illegally.

So wait a minute... I just read the news on the main site, but it seems too good to be true, I actually fear I've misunderstood.

Suddenly, out of nowhere, all of the early Dragon Ball manga up until the Saiyans is available in full colors digitally?!
My wish - and even more than I wished for - of having a digital color release that you can directly enjoy anywhere in the world has suddenly come true?! :wtf:

Does anyone know how it works for the various selling websites available?
Like, do we have to be constantly connected to read it, or is it like their first digital release with just a special viewer to install to read coded files that are actually on your computer? (that was quite handy)?
I don't have things like iOS and Android devices, just my PC!
Does it allow screencaps so that you can take a beautiful title page and put it as your desktop wallpaper for example?

I've just seen it, a print release to replace my greyscale tankobons is the main concern for me, but this is amazing and I'm trying to find some way to buy and download them.

Looks like some chapters are already up on YouTube. There are 15 videos so far but more will come I guess. :D

While I admit that the link you provided is doing some interesting stuff by editing the panels together TV-style, this is a legitimately-released produced that's coming out in two countries simultaneously for cheap. We won't be allowing pirated versions to float around.

EDIT: Wait... was this the thing linked? If so, then this is pretty awesome and sorry I jumped in so soon!

Yeah, I believe it is an official video from Bird Studio and Shueisha as it is copyrighted at the end of the video.

Gah, those little...!! What they propose is to have them on those little virtual books that are quite trendy these days!
Apparently, it's not available for any kind of PC viewing, it's all tablets and tablets apps!

It seems they're having fun releasing their colored manga in every single way except the ones that would actually make them available to little French me!
Oh well, I guess all in all, it's just a matter of time, it will end up being available out here someday! :problem:

At least they made a good move with proposing them in the US digital Jump mag, lots of people will be able to benefit from this!
But they had to lock it for the rest of the world, when I was ready to give them my money for every issue... I guess they didn't think other countries would be interested, and a system converting money might be too much trouble for nothing since they pretty much think no one would buy it elsewhere in the world.
Don't they realize that it's the magic of digital sell, that you can have it instantly wherever you are in the world, given an opportunity for worldwide releases and instant money coming from everyone?!

I'm in the same boat, I would gladly pay to have this but I'm neither in Japan or USA, so I just hope that soon it will be released in some kind of physical form (and hopefully keeping it unedited).

Well, Cold, you CAN read the Japanese version on a PC, just buy from a store that has ebook-reading software for PC (I bought Z volume 1 from BookLive! and I have access to it on PC).
I don't think you need Internet to read it after downloading it, you just can't read it directly from the PC without any software (or copy the files in any way), you need their free software to open it.

Ah, now this could be interresting!
No "copy" option is expected, as well as a special program to see it (just like for the digital Pilaf arc), but does the screen cap work (just like for the digital Pilaf arc)?
Or even more simply, do they have a "put this as your wallpaper" option directly included without even needing to screen cap anything?
