One Hour Toriko/One Piece/DBZ crossover to Air April 7

I recall multiple DB tankobon feature the characters riding cars, bikes, or other vehicles somewhere; if this is a vehicle-type race I can't imagine how the DB team would fare without Bulma there to build a super-car for them.

Know quite a few comics have been made, but a lot of folks would want an actual animated TF/G.I. Joe crossover if Hasbro signs ok for some studio to make one.

Anyway, I'm glad this sounds like it's shaping up to be a silly story. I really don't think I'd be excited about this if I learned that they were trying to make it even halfway serious.

Toriko's pulling in rather poor numbers all around. The ratings are way down from Kai, and are currently closer to the One Piece reruns than the premieres in viewership. The manga isn't selling like a top JUMP property either. They'll probably hope this gets Dragon Ball fans, and One Piece fans watching Toriko as well as alerting everyone to Battle of Gods.

And this shit replaced Kai? I hope the sales drop even further.

Actually, Toriko is one of the best current shonens out there. Much better than Naruto and Bleach and the like. One Piece is better, but Toriko comes just right after that, in my opinion. So wishing for the sales to drop and calling it shit... . You probably didn't even read the manga... You would probably like it if you did.

Also, its not true that Toriko's manga is not selling. It was the 11th best selling manga franchise in Japan in 2012, almost in the top 10 (and of course not all of the top 10 manga are from Jump). It even sold more than Bleach: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/20 ... eries/2012

As for the ratings of the anime, I'm not surprised that they aren't very good... They censored the hell out of Toriko's anime and included a lot of filler. That just ruins it. The manga is much, much, much better.

That's what irks me so much about Toriko. For all I know, I'd like the series, and I do plan to give it a shot eventually. But c'mon, does it really have to keep mooching off of other titles in a bid to get even more popularity for it? That doesn't exactly speak volumes for their confidence in it, nor peak my interest much higher. But I guess it's because it's the 'new' thing. Naruto and Bleach are on their way out slowly but surely, so they won't get much focus for these kinds of things anymore.

They do it because it has a lot of potential and its actually pretty good. If you read the first manga volume of Toriko, I bet you would immediately like it. And it keeps getting better (in my opinion).

In short, it actually deserves the attention.

You should at least read the first entire volume to get the bare minimum feel for the series. The first chapter of Toriko isn't even self-contained.

Yeah, pretty much this. Both three series share a somewhat common core of fun. Most of the ones that commented about Toriko in this topic probably haven't even read/seen enough of it to judge it properly.

Dragon Ball and One Piece are my top two favorites, and I really love Toriko too! I'm looking forward to this.

I don't understand all the Toriko hate, though. It's actually a really cool series. If you like DB and OP, I think you should really give it a chance. The anime makes way too many changes from the original story, so I would advise you read the manga instead. Also, the main character isn't a usual shonen hero, either; he's made a big name for himself by the time the story begins, he's very smart, isn't in the "coming of age" years, etc... And he can eat even more than any other shonen hero out there.

The characters are boring, the art is ugly and the premise is utterly wretched. Take your pick.

Hm, I don't think I've been reading the same manga as you. Especially if you really think that the premise is wretched.

They must see potential in Toriko. It gets better. I mean, I liked the first volume, I thought its was good, imaginative and original, but I got really hooked in the Ice Hell arc, which is around volume 9. And the antagonists only start showing up in volume 2 and after that. But of course, if you didn't like the first volume, I can't guarantee that you will like the next volumes.

I do understand why you might not like the art, its somewhat strange at first. I like it though.
