One Hour Toriko/One Piece/DBZ crossover to Air April 7
Re: One Hour DBZ/Toriko/One Piece crossover to Air April 7
I recall multiple DB tankobon feature the characters riding cars, bikes, or other vehicles somewhere; if this is a vehicle-type race I can't imagine how the DB team would fare without Bulma there to build a super-car for them.

At least Toei is getting a crossover together of things they do that could work. Unlike some other companies who don't even though some fans have been wanting animated crossovers for over 2 decades now. Looking at you Hasbro!
On topic, has anyone see the Toriko dub yet and if so, are there any cast members who are also in DB and OP so an in-joke could be made?

And just one of those franchises isn't owned in by Disney, guess.

Silver Foxy and Hamburg from One Piece would fit this role perfectly.Choujin Daizenshuu wrote:Dick Dastardly or Muttley!

Toriko is a foodie, Goku is a Foodie, this should be delicious! I will cook something special for the occasion.

Know quite a few comics have been made, but a lot of folks would want an actual animated TF/G.I. Joe crossover if Hasbro signs ok for some studio to make one.

Why on earth would anyone pray for those awesome characters *not* to be in this?Choujin Daizenshuu wrote:Pray that you don't see cameos from Penelope Pitstop, Dick Dastardly or Muttley!
Anyway, I'm glad this sounds like it's shaping up to be a silly story. I really don't think I'd be excited about this if I learned that they were trying to make it even halfway serious.

Actually, Toriko is one of the best current shonens out there. Much better than Naruto and Bleach and the like. One Piece is better, but Toriko comes just right after that, in my opinion. So wishing for the sales to drop and calling it shit...CashmanX wrote:And this shit replaced Kai? I hope the sales drop even further.Super Saiyan Prime wrote:Toriko's pulling in rather poor numbers all around. The ratings are way down from Kai, and are currently closer to the One Piece reruns than the premieres in viewership. The manga isn't selling like a top JUMP property either. They'll probably hope this gets Dragon Ball fans, and One Piece fans watching Toriko as well as alerting everyone to Battle of Gods.
Also, its not true that Toriko's manga is not selling. It was the 11th best selling manga franchise in Japan in 2012, almost in the top 10 (and of course not all of the top 10 manga are from Jump). It even sold more than Bleach: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/20 ... eries/2012
As for the ratings of the anime, I'm not surprised that they aren't very good... They censored the hell out of Toriko's anime and included a lot of filler. That just ruins it. The manga is much, much, much better.
They do it because it has a lot of potential and its actually pretty good. If you read the first manga volume of Toriko, I bet you would immediately like it. And it keeps getting better (in my opinion).Gyt Kaliba wrote:
That's what irks me so much about Toriko. For all I know, I'd like the series, and I do plan to give it a shot eventually. But c'mon, does it really have to keep mooching off of other titles in a bid to get even more popularity for it? That doesn't exactly speak volumes for their confidence in it, nor peak my interest much higher. But I guess it's because it's the 'new' thing. Naruto and Bleach are on their way out slowly but surely, so they won't get much focus for these kinds of things anymore.
In short, it actually deserves the attention.
You should at least read the first entire volume to get the bare minimum feel for the series. The first chapter of Toriko isn't even self-contained.DragonBalllKaiHD wrote:I never liked Toriko. I read its first chapter and got bored with it.
Yeah, pretty much this. Both three series share a somewhat common core of fun. Most of the ones that commented about Toriko in this topic probably haven't even read/seen enough of it to judge it properly.Wobbuffet wrote:Why do you guys hate Toriko so much? I don't read it, but some friends of mine do and they love it.
You know, it's just a cool adventure battle shonen manga. Just like One Piece and Dragon Ball.
You guys should read more manga.
True. Its pretty great right nowSaiyanZ wrote:Toriko has been on a tear lately. This arc is turning out to be on Marineford level (for those of you who read One Piece). And the latest chapter...my god
Hm, I don't think I've been reading the same manga as you. Especially if you really think that the premise is wretched.ThunderPX wrote:The characters are boring, the art is ugly and the premise is utterly wretched. Take your pick.MugiMikey wrote:Dragon Ball and One Piece are my top two favorites, and I really love Toriko too! I'm looking forward to this.
I don't understand all the Toriko hate, though. It's actually a really cool series. If you like DB and OP, I think you should really give it a chance. The anime makes way too many changes from the original story, so I would advise you read the manga instead. Also, the main character isn't a usual shonen hero, either; he's made a big name for himself by the time the story begins, he's very smart, isn't in the "coming of age" years, etc... And he can eat even more than any other shonen hero out there.

Any chance of a fight in this?
Re: One Hour DBZ/Toriko/One Piece crossover to Air April 7
Goku stomps, unless you are talking about a food contest fight, then the winner would be Toriko, but Luffy can stretch them guts... You never know.Toonami97 wrote:Any chance of a fight in this?

Re: One Hour DBZ/Toriko/One Piece crossover to Air April 7
This is great news. I would have preferred it if it was just Dragonball and One Piece... I mean, to throw Toriko in as well I can only assume that is for promotional reasons. They must see potential in Toriko. I have to admit, I'm yet to watch the series but surely it isn't yet up there with DB and OP in terms of popularity so it should feel honored to be included in a crossover with the both of them! Haha. I love Dragon Ball and One Piece. I think most people see OP as the successor to DBZ and for me that's the case as well. OP has filled the void for me!
So yeah the DB / OP crossover is something that could be really interesting and even more so that the feature is going to be an hour long. I mean, that's longer than the DBZ movies! So Battle of Gods and now this. It's been a pretty excited time for DB!

The special is to celebrate Toriko beginning a third year of broadcast, so it's not a Dragon Ball special or One Piece special.BlackCatScott wrote:This is great news. Re: One Hour DBZ/Toriko/One Piece crossover to Air April 7
Having read the first volume of Toriko, I don't see what's so good about it. The art was ugly, even for a series that had just started serialisation, Toriko himself is boring and his sidekick is annoying, only there to sit around and be amazed at how "amazing" Toriko is. This may change later on but nothing in the first volume interested me enough to get me to keep reading.
I'm re-watching Dragon Ball GT in full on my blog. Check it out if you're interested in my thoughts on the series as I watch through it!

Oh God a though just occurred to me. Master Roshi. With Nami, Robin and Rin!
Re: One Hour DBZ/Toriko/One Piece crossover to Air April 7
It gets better. I mean, I liked the first volume, I thought its was good, imaginative and original, but I got really hooked in the Ice Hell arc, which is around volume 9. And the antagonists only start showing up in volume 2 and after that. But of course, if you didn't like the first volume, I can't guarantee that you will like the next volumes.Saiga wrote:Having read the first volume of Toriko, I don't see what's so good about it. I do understand why you might not like the art, its somewhat strange at first. I like it though.
