I don't know if this was posted.
For you guys who don't live in the USA (just like me), the best you can do is asnwer this survey:
http://viz.weekly-shonen-jump-launch-poll.sgizmo.com/s3

This is not a fan survey. This was made by Shueisha itself. The link was on Weekly Shonen Jump website.
Sorry, I can't speak English very well, but I'm trying my best.

I thought I would like it being left untranslated, but after reading the b&w version, I liked the english sound effects better. I think the main reason is because while in the color version they left it untranslated, they still included a tiny translation of it in black font next to the sound effects. It seems very out of place. They could have at least put it in the margins, I think.
If they ever have a print release you should not have to worry about that.

Just a few of my own throughts:

- I'm a tad conflicted on the colored version now that I've read the first chapter. I mean, it looks gorgeous, don't get me wrong. But it does seem to take attention away from Toriyama's line work and subtle art. But hey, I've already got the VizBigs (and I'm slowly working toward a complete Kanzenban collection as well), so this is a fantastic companion piece to own.

- I *love* having the original sound effects. My dream of owning the entire English manga with unedited artwork is slowly coming true. And yes, I know that the addition of color and little things like that is technically an edit, but that's the whole gimmick with this release, so I'm happy to let it slide if it means we can get the unaltered sounds, guns, etc. The only thing I don't like is that Viz insists on writing their sound effect translations on top of the artwork. What the hell? There is so much room in the black space in-between the panels. Why are they not writing their little translation notes there? It looks so ugly, but I guess I slightly prefer it over them editing the whole panel to insert their own sounds. But, just... gah.

- I never expected them to revise their translation, so I can't really say I'm too disappointed. Like others have said, though, I'm not all that crazy about the font they chose. It looks awfully... scanlation-ey. But hey, I can read it, so I guess that's all that matters.

Overall, I'm pleased. If Viz had been smart enough to simply write their sound effect translations outside the panels, I wouldn't have any real complaints at all. I mean... it just seems like such a common sense thing to do. But if we can truly get the rest of the artwork untouched, then I'm willing to raise my personal score of Viz's version from a 07/10 to an 08/10. I just hope they start releasing these faster. At a mere chapter per week, it'll be ten years from now before we get the entire manga.

My apologies for the double-post, but it's been a week so I hope it's okay.

Just so everyone knows the schedule, the weekly issues of Shonen Jump get released every Monday at 1:00 PM EST, so the newest issue is out now. And chapter 196 looks great!

That's quite alright to me, I was glad to re-read the chapter as well. The color really does add to the experience. It's not quite as good as it could be if it were done intentionally from the beginning, but for a later color job, it's amazing. Certainly a better job than the re-colored reprints of the original Mirage TMNT run, sadly (still, I'll enjoy my HC B&W trades of those).
