Dragonball Z Saga Sets
When the ultimate uncut DVDs get to the Funi termed "Captain Ginyu Saga" do you think it's possible Funimation could continue on and re-release the Frieza and further sagas in a Dragonball-styled boxed set?
If they did it properly they could call it the "collectors edition" and include special features etc
This would be a great way for them to make more money off older episodes and for us to get more episodes with less space and a cheaper price.
I hope that Funimation eventually does something like this or even a US equivalent of the Dragon Box sets as after the release of movie 13, likely to be at the end of the year, that will be it.
Unless they release the "Plan to Destroy the Saiya-jin" Playdia game as a "lost movie".....

I think FUNi is done with DBZ and dvd after they finish out the Ultimate Uncuts. I don't see them doing any kind of huge set or anything near the quality of the DragonBoxes. We can just wait and see if they take advantage of the upcoming formats and are able to put A LOT of episodes on one disc.

Apart from money it does make sense to re-release these episodes. They could
1. Have all episodes correctly numbered
2. Get Kyle Hebert to narrate the Season 3/4 episodes "for consistency"
3. Have better covers for the DVDs
4. Add real special features such as Japanese TV spots, video game trailers etc
Either way I don't see Funi abandoning DBZ after the ultimate uncuts, if nothing else I'm sure they'll try to dub the Playdia footage as the DBZ movie "lost in the fabric of time" or some crap like that!

I really, really need to get back into the habit of posting.
Kyle Hebert is no longer associated with FUNimation, and I believe that Sean Schemmel isn't either.gohan2k wrote:Apart from money it does make sense to re-release these episodes. They could

The fact that they're both still doing voices for the company lends a lot of evidence to the contrary.DB_Fan wrote:Kyle Hebert is no longer associated with FUNimation, and I believe that Sean Schemmel isn't either.

Yeah, there's a bit of misconception in that guys. Sean Schemmel moved to New York City a while ago (which is why you'll continue to hear him on many shows by 4Kids), and both Kyle Hebert and Dameon Clarke moved to Los Angelus, California (Kyle is playign Kiba Inuzuku on Naruto, and Dameon Clarke is apparantly going to be in a Live Action Movie!). However, they still have contracts that will allow them to do voice work for FUNimation. Kyle mentioned they recorded DBZ Movie #12 in October and it was finished and released at this time, so I can assume that he already recorded for #13 too (since Kevin M. Conolly mentioned to me not long ago that he got called in to do some background voices for 13 as well). He also said that he probably won't be able to play Falman in the FMA Movie due to the flight to Texas costing more than what the character role would pay.

I think we've already established that DBZ will only be coming out in sets in English speaking countries, because we simply couldn't really financially/economically handle one big, 291 episodes release. Christ, even the Japanese had to do two.gohan2k wrote:Is it more likely that the DBZ series will be released in saga sets or as a whole series like the Dragon Box in Japan?
I think I'd prefer the saga sets myself, but what about you all?

Haven't you heard? With the money that FUNimation has saved by not getting the original music, they have built cloning tanks far underneath their office... and they are cloning some of their best VAs, just in case anything goes wrong.VegettoEX wrote:The fact that they're both still doing voices for the company lends a lot of evidence to the contrary.DB_Fan wrote:Kyle Hebert is no longer associated with FUNimation, and I believe that Sean Schemmel isn't either.

I don't imagine we'll ever see a FUNimation version of the Dragon Boxes, myself . . . but the saga sets are just fine for me. Now if only FUNi would release "Ultimate Uncut" cases for the rest of the series to replace those screencap covers, I could die happy.
