Okay... There is no way this is real. The DVD art looks like it's been photoshopped. Otherwise, this is really weird. The listing got it wrong anyway. When the Saiyan Saga was first shown on TV, it was 26 episodes not 29.

I guess whatever this is would be a good fit for Toonami?
I think I'll be buying assorted Dragon Ball things for the rest of my life.

I hope we're just being trolled. This does not make any sense at all.

To say the entire English fandom just got thrown for a loop would be putting it lightly.

Are they serious? This is super bizarre.

If this is legit, I just assume the 'redubbed' thing is either what someone mentioned a bit ago, and they just fixed certain things - though even that seems pointless, unless maybe it was audio that was too low and they needed a new recording to be louder, or something. That or it's just a mistake and there's no redubbing.

I thought the Ocean dub technically was completed though, just on TV there?

Even though the Ocean Saiyan and Namek DVD boxsets aren't that expensive to get, I'm down for a more economic sized package with my next dimensions and all. :D

That's silly. The Ocean dub of DBZ is a relic of the past, largely best left forgotten.

Except the dubs of those first three DBZ movies.

Did they ever get to dub the uncut version they were going to do before they stopped dubbing Z altogether. Maybe FUNimation found the tapes are are like "hey another DBZ dvd set!" lol

The Canadian cast didn't dub between when Goku landed on Namek and the end of the Freeza arc.

Huh. Maybe that's what the 'redubbed' material would be then? Except that wouldn't even be on this set, so why mention it...I'm probably grasping at straws here. Never knew it was such a specific section of the series that they never dubbed.

Wait, so did they get to do Garlic Jr.?

Come to think of it, pioneer's license did expire 10 years ago.

They started with the episode after Trunks leaves, I think.

Maybe "The original Broadcast" refers to the cast, or most of the cast returning?

I just can't imagine FUNi bothering to hire the Ocean cast only for this. It rather sounds like a silly fan idea.

I think the description might be the screw up here, guys. From closer inspection it looks as though the box says "1-26" as opposed to 29 episodes.

But still, this is an odd decision. Perhaps it's cheap to put out; that, and I think these'll be easy to market, especially to people like us.

I hope we still get Dragon Boxes though...please. :(

WAAAAAAT?

If they randomly redubbed lines for no reason at all, a la the season sets, then I'm not for this release. :x

Though, it would be astounding if we got the uncut movies 1-3 dubs with better footage.

Perhaps they had him do "OVER 8000!".

Speaking of which, if Funimation are going down the nostalgia route then I hope they re-release Ginyu Assault, just to make Mike review it again.

Actually, it would kinda make sense for them to re-release the Freeza arc in this manner with their unaltered 1999 dub so you can seamlessly go from one to the other like the old broadcast, with the old Sabat performance, and the edited Ginyu Assault episode.

I expect them to think though "LOL season sets" instead though.

This is... odd. Seems like a pretty redundant release. If that boxart is anything to go by, I assume that this release is entirely for nostalgia, what with that 'Rock the Dragon' tagline at the top, the old logo, and the 'The Original Broadcast' tagline. I'll pass I suppose, as i'm collecting Dragon Boxes, and have no nostalgia for the Ocean Dub.
