Yeah, this is reminding me a lot of when Kai came out. I may be reading into this too much, but this kinda gives me the impression that they're still hesitant to go all out with Dragon Ball Z which is, I dunno, disheartening.
Or they, in my most cynical personal theory, are using some of the leftover Kai art-stock that they had just hanging around unused since the show was cancelled. >_>
Leftover unused art is easier/cheaper than drawing brand new stuff.
Throwing the "GO" kanji on Goku's shirt is easy enough, after all.
I mean, they needed to draw Kuririn, Birusu, and Uisu from scratch, but everyone else....?
I dunno; I like to be more optimistic than that, but all the promo art I've seen so far, excluding the poster, just feels a little too unrelated to the movie for my comfort.
I mean, I guess at the end of the day as long as the movie itself is done well and has effort put into it, that's all that really matters...even so, I'd been looking forward to buying some tie-in stuffs (I share my birthday with one of the preview screenings so even more reason for me to splurge on something fun and BOG-related) but nothing so far has grabbed my attention outside of that cheerful WCF Vegeta-toy (and maybe the soundtrack). The other two items I want are only theoretical at this point (the animanga and the behind-the-scenes design book).
