I actually see this easily surpassing 17Mill for the box office. I'd wager, at the least, 30 Million.

I really hate the modern Dragon Ball style. I much prefer the '90s artwork. As such, I decided to make a sketch in the closest style I could to the old '90s artworks:

I think my drawing's actually technically better as well, with better proportions and more detail... I also redid Goten's pose, because the original one makes me think more of Gotenks.

Also, why is everyone's hair so freaking short in the modern styles? Is really short hair in style in Japan now or something? It makes their faces look bloated or something, and Gohan looks like he's balding. Although, I've noticed this in a some Kai artwork as well, but Goku usually has really tall and thin hair... It makes him look like a Christmas tree or something.

Woah, the official art is straight up ugly. That Gohan is atrocious. Your version looks great.

Besides Gohan's hair, I don't see anything wrong with the official art. Proportions look right, posing it fine. If anything it's just a tad off-model due to it being a different style.

Gohan's mouth is way off-center, Goku's hair is way too tall and thin, and Piccolo isn't even in the same style as everyone else (and is drawn terribly).

I see nothing wrong with the original picture. I'm not saying the sketched version is bad, because it's really good. It's just different, not better. Some people are being far too persnickety with the original version, and I find it slightly strange that someone had the arrogance to think they could do it better. That's just my opinion anyway; probably is an unpopular one, but never mind.

Edit - I'm not saying this to offend, by the way. The sketch is really good. : )

No, they re not, a bad hair from Gohan and the big head for Piccolo are the only one not accurate, so just that two proportions errors can't be called "all the proportions"

I think people have to remember as well that it's 2013, styles are bound to change. Definitely not going to be the same as it was in the 90s. The style has its differences, but overall I don't see the problem. Trivial things are being picked upon, (ie, people don't like Gohan's hair or the size of Piccolo's head). I assume this is because people are used to the old Dragonball style. But fair enough, I suppose and each to their own. I don't believe that it's 'badly drawn' as some are suggesting. In my humble opinion, it's probably because it's different from what we're used to.

I honestly don't see any of that. A lot of anime draw the start of the lips near the center of those nose like on Gohan (I mean, I definitely agree that it's not anatomically accurate. I'm just saying it's done in a lot of animation. Anime in particular). As for Goku's hair, I don't really see that either. I'm trying to imagine his base hair in that pic, and it seems it would fall into place fine. As for Piccolo, I don't know how he seems to be in a different style, haha. Maybe just because he's the only one who's not a Super Saiyan?

Actually, I'm gonna side with Alioth here. It's not 90s style, for sure, but it doesn't look bad by any means. Not aesthetically, anyway.

I like the official artwork too, for me it's just fine!
Styles may differ as Alioth said, but it's all good!
The sketch is great too, in a different style, but I don't think either one of those is "more like what Dragon Ball artworks should be".

Toriyama himself went through many styles through his manga (and the re-releases), I don't see why the anime would have to stick to the 90s style-wise

Now that he has his own studio (Yamamuro Animation, which worked on the Ultimate Blast cut scenes) I have to wonder if he's stepping into the same role Shindou Mitsuo played for him and is now looking for his future successor? My theory doesn't have much of a leg to stand on, but it's something, I suppose.

By the way Big Momma, the problem with Piccolo is his face and head, Piccolo is tall and has more big proportions, so his head should be more small and the other thing is that is too simple his face, when the face of the others characters not.

The tweet looks like it's talking about expanding the roadshow (so more places?) but I think it might still be only in Japan. I could be wrong though.

The Amazon listing makes me think it's a special set of BOG Carddass cards; like a booster pack.
*Is it silly of me to be entertained by the fact that the carddass logo has its A's extra-stylized so it looks like it says CarddAss? Ah well. Such is life.*
