Re: Worst Anime Dragon Ball Z movie
Oh, yeah, movie 7. I forgot about that one. That one's just boring as all get out. So, yeah, forget what I said before. Movie 7 is the worst.
And also, everything penguintruth just said about Broli and Bardock.

I remember when I surprise when I hear that Movie 7 was the highest grossing DBZ film. I find the villains forgettable and the movie was dull. Super 13 looked cool and that was it.

Re: Worst Anime Dragon Ball Z movie
Movie 11 is the absolute worst. I hate Trunks Goten as main characters. Actually, I dislike them as characters. They are not funny with their antics but annoying. Broly... again. Need I say more? I hate his blob form too. Damn, was that a dumb idea. I mean, Broly had little personality before, but now, it's laughable. And, you know, he's so huge, you think they could blast him away easily. But no
The other Broly movie sucked too-Movie ten I think. Movie eight was pretty bad as well but watchable.
I think after DBZ movies 1-3, the landscape and the stories got very limited in imagination; while, I do know that all the DB movies basically retell DB, I think DBZ movies 1-3 did the best with that and then some. I think movie 1 had one of the best villains, and the stakes got so high (Garlic Jr wished for immortality, the only way to beat him was to throw him into the Dead Zone. Very creative!) that there was not much they could do later that wouldn't be treading the same story again.

Movie 11, Movie 10, Movie 8 and Movie 13 are my least favorites. On a side note my favorite movies are Movie 3, Movie 4, Movie 5, and Movie 12

Broly is a tumor on the franchise.
Dayuuuum, give this man his favorite desert x10, this is exactly how I feel about Brolypenguintruth wrote:I hate the Broly movies for three reasons:
1) Overexplaining the Super Saiyan legend. We don't need to know who the OFFICIAL Legendary Super Saiyan is. It was a legend. When you explain too much, you strip away some of the mystique. Not to mention that it's some character we've never seen or heard about before. It's this kind of crap that made me enraged by Episode of Bardock. Do we really need to know how Freeza's clan first came to know about the Super Saiyan? And does it need to have been Bardock? Just more bullshit overexplaining. It's like Superman growing up knowing Lex Luthor or the Joker being the one who murdered Bruce Wayne's parents. Unnecessary and annoying.
2) Broly gets his knob gobbled by the fandom. "I bet Broly could TOTALLY beat SSJ3 Goku!" "Hey, could Super Perfect Cell defeat Broly?" "What if Broly fought SSJ3 Gotenks?" "Broly is the ultimate DBZ villain! He can beat everyone!" And all that circle-jerking about him that goes on every second of the day by DBZ fandom like he's the greatest damn thing to ever happen. It's sickening.
3) Broly, as a character, is just lame. He has no personality, no pathos (even with his tragic backstory he remains unsympathetic), and every fight with him is the same fight. This mountain of stupid is the Legendary Super Saiyan? He's just The Unlikable Hulk.
By the second appearance, a swift fart from Gohan should be able to destroy Broly, but they keep amping him up to ridiculousness. Broly is the f***ing plague.

Re: Worst Anime Dragon Ball Z movie
Aw man, I love movie 7. Aesthetically, it is one of the best movies. And it has one of the best end songs, IMO. It was, if I recall correctly, my first exposure to Japanese DBZ, so it has massive nostalgia points. I mean really. Going from the edited Ocean episodes on Cartoon Network to this, was utterly mind-blowing. And it was an official Japansese VHS, not a fansub. To this day, I have never seen it in anything but raw Japanese, and I am okay with that.
I don't know what my least favorite is, since I haven't watched most of them in 10 years or so and my old tapes are far away at my parents house, but I have recently watched movies 1, 4, 8, and 12. I watch 12 all the time, just because I have an official copy of the Japanese VHS, but I really don't like it. Or movie 8. Or 4.
Movie 1 however...I loved it. In fact, I think I like it now more than when I watched it all those years ago. And it was the Ocean dub that I watched. I got a good deal on the Pioneer DVD yesterday. I might watch the Japanese version tomorrow. It'll be my first time! I'm excited.
Anyhow of the ones I have watched recently, movie 8 was the worst, I guess.

Honestly, I don't hate any of them; but the ones with the least replay value are probably DBZ Movies 4, 7, 9, 10, 11. I'd also like to add DB Movies 2 & 3, but this is a "Worst Anime Dragon Ball Z Movie" thread so I won't.

Re: Worst Anime Dragon Ball Z movie
I can watch Movies 1-3 over, and over again.
I love those movies so much
And no, not because of Ocean but in Japanese.
Bu I agree with the least replay value list you have. That is true to true.

Re: Worst Anime Dragon Ball Z movie
I liked the Movie 8, but! The second half was little too much. but for me, the worst are in order Movie 3 (nice fight scenes of the group tough) and then Movie 10 (Liked only the part with Gohan).
Movie 11 was somewhat original, what killed it off was Brolli! Being it some random damn powerfull bio-mutant, it would be better and original. When I first saw that shot on Brolli's naked ass, I was:
''Oh not again!!!!'' and also, it didn't had a Movie vibe, rather like some episodic TV filler, made into a movie. So, in the end I think that movie 11 is indeed the worst.
My worst DB movie is the third one. Two movies before were recreating part of the series, first had whole alteration of the Pilaf arc with new original antagonist and second was rather like, the search for Lunch wasn't that bland, but it was more thrilling and Goku and Krillin experienced this awesome journey. Movie 3 is interesting only by visuals and maybe an inclusion of Pilaf and co. at the beginning, but wasn't interesting as the two movies before, because the manga and anime storyline was far more interesting and well done and the movie was pretty boring (btw. you simply can'm mash up world's greatest assasin and Tenkaichi Budokai storyline in short movie and make it more awesome!!!!).

I'd say Movie 11, but I can forgive it for its shitty quality because of one piece of music composed for it. If you include specials and OVAs by the word "movie", it's definitely Episode of Bardock, which shows nothing but the current staff's incompetence.

Re: Worst Anime Dragon Ball Z movie
I really dislike all of them. When I was a kid, I enjoyed Tree of Might, World's Strongest, and Dead Zone. But as an adult, I feel like all the movies are lame. Rushed, unoriginal, short pieces of work which just scream, "Quick Cash!" The movie with the Artificial Humans and Cooler are good, but not THAT good. They all rip off the story anyway.
As for the Shonen Jump Special, BLAH! Years of no new DB and they come back with that? The borefest with moronic villains. The Episode of Bardock was a bit better, but inconsistent with the series and I feel like it was a sell-out to the character. He was not a good guy, but because people liked him, despite being an insignificant character, they did a whole story on him where he's just the bestest guy in the universe.
The Path to Power, I find enjoyable. And of course the 2 DBZ specials are amazing.
I even found the GT special to be nice. it was original.

In that case all the Broly Sequels in Storytelling.
The One with the Androids has the worst Animation, though. I would even say catastrophic at times.

Movie 11. It always seemed lame to me, and this is coming from someone who liked Movie 8.
Re: Worst Anime Dragon Ball Z movie
I 2nd that, It has to be the second worst for me. One of the saving graces for it is Future Trunks, so it's slightly better then Bio-broly, Honstely Broly just isn't Interesting enough for THREE movies, so that was major overkillHellspawn28 wrote:I remember when I surprise when I hear that Movie 7 was the highest grossing DBZ film. Re: Worst Anime Dragon Ball Z movie
I actually kind of liked Bio Broly. Unlike the previous two movies, the third one was kind of fun to watch even if it was absurd. I'm not crazy for Path to Power. I was never able to finish the movie, a poor rehash of the early Dragon Ball manga was unnecessary. I understand at the time it was supposed to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the show but they could have done something a little more entertaining.
Re: Worst Anime Dragon Ball Z movie
I still haven't seen Dragon Ball Z movie #11, but I'd have to say maybe...movie #7? I can't say at least one good thing about any of the films, really.

Re: Worst Anime Dragon Ball Z movie
Would go with 11 but for a bad reason. I simply don't like it because it is Broly. Honestly take out blob monster who gets killed by water and change it to a weird looking movie villian and I'd love it. Goten and Trunks are there, you get to see 18 in action as well and almost some aftermath from the world tournament like "give me the money you owe me".
I think I saw one person but if I ignore the fact that it is Broly I'd think Movie 9 is the worst. The beginning was cool but as soon as Bojack was introduced and how he got there I was pretty upset.
What I would have loved to see, would have been instead of having Broly as a villian to a third movie which I feel like they just needed a villian, and they just went with Broly. Him being in movie 12 would have been fantastic. Seeing Broly be child's play to Gohan would have been awesome to have. Not only because I'd love to see more of ultimate form Gohan in action but also think of all the rumors it would have hushed away.
"Could Broly stand toe to toe with Gogeta in physical strength?"
"No what gave you that idea?"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_HxN_8OHBf8&t=1m13s
I didn't know what to say. I told a friend that Broly could only ever EVER do that was if he got a power boost from dying in movie 10, came back stronger in movie 11 but was unstable and couldn't do anything died AGAIN in that movie, get brought back in movie 12 and Gogeta just was caught off guard. Look at how quickly he died from just one Kamehameha
So I summed up saying it was bullshit and it could never happen... Then he showed me the SSJ3 Broly cutscene from that arcade trailer(not the raging blast 2 one) and I gave up.

Re: Worst Anime Dragon Ball Z movie
I don't see how anyone could hate on the jump special. It was everything that the movies lacked. It had that toriyama feel and humor. There was character development and interaction. There was even a mini plot twist with the inclusion of vegetas brother. To me it recaptured the spirit of the old series perfectly. Boring is elisode of bardock. I agree with you on that one.TheGreatness25 wrote:I really dislike all of them. When I was a kid, I enjoyed Tree of Might, World's Strongest, and Dead Zone.
