I don't think this release will sell well, the only people that would get this is the ones that spend 100 bucks a month on DBZ

This is where the wind sound from DBZ plays.

That's not true. I don't spend a 100 bucks a month or months for that matter on Dragonball stuff and I will definitly be picking this up. I also think that this will sell well because the nostalgia behind it. but if Funimation doesn't release any of the Dragon-boxes this year then this will be my only Dragonball related purchase that I can think of. :P
The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128

Has this made it to any other site other than AAAAnime, like Amazon.com?
Next to get; Leged of Saiyan figures and Freeza's force

If anyone sees
Any of the Legend of Saiyan line going cheapish
Or any other Banpresto DBZ figure :)

If anyone has a cooler steelbook dvd that wants to sell it (prefer new but used is fine) when/if the dragon box movies comes out contact me :)

Well, I saw some group on facebook broadcasting this and had quite a large following considering that it is a "niche". So that's cool :D

I do have a soft spot for the Ocean voice cast. I did grew up with that of DBZ before the 1999 - 2005 voice cast was used. My friend is a big fan of the original voice cast as well and he should be happy to hear about this.

I never bother to pick up the Madman releases. Madman always seem to have a hit or miss track record when it comes to video releases since their coloring always tend to look bad in my opinion.

One advantage the Madman sets of releases for some shows seem to have is that they usually get more than their USA counterparts, such as when the Ocean Dub episodes were first released, all the NEP's were kept in-tact.

A non-DBZ example would be TMNT's "Turtle's Forever" movie, where the US version was only released in the edited version while the Madman version is completely uncut.

There was footage that was cut from the TV airing to make more room for commercial time.

An example is when Ch'rell is crushing the Mirage Turtles in his hand that he notices that he is being erased from existence the same way that everyone else is. Karai yells at him to stop and he finally relents. Karai explains that if the original turtles are killed, so is everything else. Ch'rell then decides to sacrifice himself even if it means the end of all TMNT everywhere.

Essentially, 10 or so minutes of footage is cut in the edited US release but is restored in the Madman AUS/NZ release.

Here's all the missing footage on the US release. - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Pqe6f9d6qQ

4Kids streamed the uncut version of the film on their site until they lost the rights to TMNT I believe.

From the other thread; I asked a certain person about all of this debacle:
attitudefan wrote:Okay, had a short conversation with a specific voice actor, like 1 minute but I had to ask!

These are the details:

They are definitely doing Kai. Specifically stated KAI!

Ocean is "wrapping up the last couple of episodes. It's the last package of them."

Something will be "coming up soon", within a couple of months I presume.

Also, I asked about this rumour of a new DVD called the broadcast version of DBZ. You didn't hear it from me or Ocean, but rumour is, "they are good rumours."

However, I'm not too sure about the production side as I heard that "production's doing things on their own."

So... the DVD COULD be false. Or at least the cover. But the release seems to be at the right time. March-July maybe; a specific time was not told to me even though I asked that rumours are it's coming out in March/July. "They are good rumours."

EDIT: You didn't hear it from me or you know who

I too am surprised that FUNimation is bothering to re-release this ancient fossil of a dub, after they've spent years pretending it never existed. Though it would be good promotion for the Ocean dub of Kai, whenever it decides to finally air.

The cover art does look a little Kai-ish, but this is FUNimation we're talking about. The last 3 discs of US DragonBox 5 had Kai art pieces for Gohan, Cell, and Goku. Supposing the 26 episodes part is true, than it would be impossible for it to just be the Pioneer discs re-released since Volume 8 - Showdown ended on English Episode 25. They should be able to do it with 4 discs, or even 3 since they won't have to worry about alternate audio.

If this does sell well, than maybe we can expect to see the old 27 episode Namek Saga follow suite. Who knows, maybe they'll throw in the 3-part version of Tree of Might with Ian Corlett as Goku.

Well, from my source, they have redubbed everything and JUST finished or are still on the last episodes. He has maybe a couple of lines left.

So, either they are releasing this old version to warm up to Ocean Kai, or this is Ocean Kai.

My guess they are doing this due to fan request. You have DBZ fans in the US that like the Ocean Cast then the 1999-2005 Funi dub cast or Funi Kai cast. I'm hoping that this will be Kai, but I doubt it going by the box cover. Since it's not out until July, the cover can be changed over time.

I've noticed a few comments questioning the legitimacy of this posting, and I'm going to have to say "Nuh-uh". AAA Anime is a legitimate wholesaler. They're a distributor of anime merchandise to independent hobby stores. The box art may be a mock up, but the listing (which was on more than just AAA Anime, it appears it was a part of Funimation's July solicitations) should be legit.

Why Funimation is releasing this is another matter.
"I like the money it brings in, but Dragon Ball Heroes is the worst. That's actually the real reason I decided to start working on new material. I was afraid Bandai would make something irredeemably stupid like Super Saiyan 4 Broly." - Akira Toriyama, made up interview, 2013.

Yeah, just wanted to post here to back you up on this. Nearly every imported figure I've gotten from Japan through a US distibutor has had a AAA Anime sticker on it somewhere, and they wouldn't post a prank on their website.

Also, FUNi mentioned they were releasing "something cool" this year for Dragonball, and at first, I thought they meant the Harmony Gold dub they received, but this isn't too far off from that I suppose. If it were more Dragon Boxes, I don't think that would just be "something cool", since we've already gotten some Dragon Boxes, since I think the "WOW DRAGON BOXES DIDN'T SEE THAT COMING" factor has kinda died down. It seemed to me from the beginning like it would be something unexpected, which looks to be the case.
