Not really. I thought the whole Buu arc had humor and silly jokes like that so these didn't feel out of place.testing223 wrote:Kind of like Buu farting, Old Kai making boob jokes, or Gotenks doing anything ever.Gyt Kaliba wrote:Hmm...I'm not really sure how I feel about the gag in the 4th panel. It would be more like, I don't know, Cell farting or making boob jokes.

Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
Like Marco said, the entire Buu arc is silly in the kind of way that jokes flow better than what they have in this special so far - but it's not just that either. This whole 'indirect kissing' gag just doesn't feel very Dragon Ball to me, regardless of who spouted it. I dunno, it just doesn't fit in any way to me.
That and, well, Old Kai's boob jokes and everything Gotenks does is actually funny. Can't say I recall Buu's farting off the top of my head though.

It was when Boo went into a portable bathroom and farted....then Dende and Mr. Satan smelled it.....it was filler.Gyt Kaliba wrote:Like Marco said, the entire Buu arc is silly in the kind of way that jokes flow better than what they have in this special so far - but it's not just that either. Ohhhh. After he had 'absorbed' Vegito, right? I think I remember that now then, yeah.Insertclevername wrote:It was when Boo went into a portable bathroom and farted....then Dende and Mr. Satan smelled it.....it was filler.
Okay, that is a little weak, but I'd still call it more fitting than this indirect kiss gag. Poop jokes just scream Toriyama.

Keep in mind that this special's current author-artist is Japanese, and "making a big deal out of an indirect kiss" is for some reason a common anime/manga comedy trope.

Am I the only one that totally didn't notice any kind of bracelet on Tapion before now? Looking back at the end of the last chapter of the main comic we've had though, it was there. Huh. I forget where we got a good look at Tapion before that to check there too.

This special is drawn by a Japanese artist, Beta, but the story is still written by the author of DBM, Salagir.Kaboom wrote:Keep in mind that this special's current author-artist is Japanese, and "making a big deal out of an indirect kiss" is for some reason a common anime/manga comedy trope.

What do you know, it is there.TonyTheTiger wrote:*snip image*
Yeah, if nothing else, I have to give them major credit for this kind of thing. Having something from that far back actually turning out to have been there, almost as very small foreshadowing (you know, if anyone noticed it, which I dunno if anyone did), takes some effort. It makes me wonder what my final opinion on this comic is going to be when it's finally all said and done.Really have to admire their forethought.

What makes you think that every little thing and line was of Salagir's doing? Its pretty common for the artist to have some input on the details in these type of collaborations.Marco Polo wrote:This special is drawn by a Japanese artist, Beta, but the story is still written by the author of DBM, Salagir.Kaboom wrote:Keep in mind that this special's current author-artist is Japanese, and "making a big deal out of an indirect kiss" is for some reason a common anime/manga comedy trope.
Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
I dunno, that page Tony linked has been edited before to include more shadows behind Tapion. I wouldn't ignore the possibility that they edited in the bracelet at some point.
Not saying they did, or it's likely, it's just something to keep in mind.

Perhaps, but I just wanted to correct the idea that Beta is the "author-artist" of this special.rereboy wrote:What makes you think that every little thing and line was of Salagir's doing? Never thought I'd say this, but poor Raichi. Just goes to show you that revenge really doesn't pay off I guess, since even though he won in this version...nothing's changed and the guy's pretty much all alone.

LMAO!
I keep finding myself surprised at how much I like this version of Raichi. Maybe it's because he actually could've been like this had he not been consumed by the desire for revenge, or maybe it's because he's a stone-cold boss.
