The whole thing is a weird situation for me. I can relate to Gohan and Vegeta fans because I have a similar situation going on with other stuff I follow (wanting your team to be the big winner, but being disappointed more years than not), but at the same time I like Goku so it's not like him getting a special movie-only power-up makes me sad or anything; I'm actually excited to see what the form looks like. Mixed feelings.

It's not because of I'm a Gohan fan as I like both of them equally, its just consistency is all wrong.

gohan and vegeta are big charecters in the original story so when it was said that the movie would be part of the original story and by toryama all fans expect the story to follow the same path as the original arcs so throing vegeta and gohan aside isn't something that fans expect from the original writer who made theme such big chareters and got theme the fans they have today
July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.

IDK I'm reading through translations from the scans and people mention this Super Saiyan God as one from legends.

What if, when Whis inevitably shows his true colors and is revealed as the mastermind and real threat (I'm just going to pretend that's what will happen until we're told otherwise), Bils somehow loans Goku his powers, causing Goku to become a "Super Saiyan God?"

Wouldn't it make more sense for Birusu to take care of Uisu himself? Especially since he's the one who's been crossed.

So Goku is the one with the SSJG... it was to be expected.
Check out Journey's End, a short story of Goku and Vegeta's final days. "Time is running out for the last two Saiyans"
