Official On-Going DBZ 2013 Movie Thread: "Battle of Gods"

Holy crap, there's a lot to say, between the new trailer (and screenshots to see parts of it better) and the track listing!

Trailer/Screenshots
- Even in low quality, the animation looks to me like it's going to be freakin' beautiful to see. Better than Episode of Bardock had at least.
- Bils really has this thing for gigantic sun-looking fireballs apparently.
- Goku in a tracksuit amuses me greatly for some reason. I just love to see the characters in casual clothes sometimes at least.
- Piccolo singing is the most hilariously awesome concept yet. Especially with Gohan being all thrilled looking as he draws more attention to it. Oh Gohan...you may have grown up, but you're still the Piccolo fanboy at heart.
- Hooray for Saiyaman! W-Wait...was he just...pelvic...thrusting...*dies of laughter* Oh my god YES. And thanks Kei17 for the animated gif of that shot. I am going to have soooo much fun with that one.
- Yay for more of Pilaf's gang and them freaking out about something. They're going to steal the show swomehow, I just know it.
- Bulma looking off into the sky and then turning to look at a battered Vegeta in shock is kind of a curiouiis shot...wonder what's happening there.
- Seeing Buu angry and attacking, only to be deterred so easily, is awesome, but not as awesome as Bils' FACE after that. Holy CRAP does he look pissed.
- What the heck is that wrapped around Goku's body before he starts to power up, at about 18 to 19 seconds into the new trailer?
- Bils throwing some quick potshots only for Goku to have to dodge them looks awesome too.
- Oh wow, Whis is actually doing something. The less and less we get about him, the more sure I am that he's up to something in this movie.
- Whoa, wasn't expecting the shot of Oozaru at all. That's extremely interesting...I'd think it was symbolic like everyone else does, but like Kaboom said, Bils is reacting to it...unless what he's really reacting to is just a surge of power or something?
- In the end, we don't really see what this 'Super Saiyan God' looks like at all unless I missed something. Hmm...

Soundtrack Listing
- Just based on the way the tracks are laid out, it looks like we'll be seeing some footage prior to the actual 'opening' of the movie. I like when stuff like that happens myself.
- Hmm...based on track #7 being 'Birusu, God of Destruction, Appears' coming after Bulma's Birthday Party, I'm thinking the part where he shows up uninvited actually happens before Goku's first fight with him. I'd assumed it was after for some reason.
- #12 'A Memory Recalled' makes me think that must be about the time Vegeta recalls having met Bils' before.
- #14 'A Super-Deluxe Prize' Hmm...my curiousity grows even more.
- #15 'The Pilaf Gang Arrives'. HOORAY!
- #16 'The Pilaf Gang is Driven Off'. Awww.
- #18, so Bils is actually looking for this 'Super Saiyan God'...hmm.
- #19, Bingo Tournament...the hell? XD;
- #20, yay, Pilaf's gang is back! But they seemingly have turned into kids in-between their appearances? Well that's...curious.
- #22, more bingo? What is this, the Hikaru no Go of DBZ?
- #27 makes it seem to me like he appears far before the end of the movie, so there goes the theory of someone dying and getting brought back probably.
- #28-32 sound like they're all kind of connected to me. I don't know what to think about this 'One More Saiyan' bit, but...maybe they use the Dragon Balls to wish this 'Super Saiyan God' either back, or into existence, or...something? I really don't know what to expect there. But with that many tracks left after this point, I'm thinking that this 'Super Saiyan God' actually doesn't finish the job either way, regardless of who or what or whatever it is.
- #38, calling it now, Bils' does become a friend to the gang in the end after all.

So lots of stuff to absorb here. The first mention of the 'Super Saiyan God' had me worried about how stupid that all sounded, but seeing more footage and getting more story tidbits via the soundtrack...I'm fully excited again. Dammit March, roll around already!

Oh, and on the point Magic raised about wanting spoilers instead of 'experiencing' the film - I'm weird like that myself. All spoilers do is make me want to see something for myself all the more, especially with DBZ, considering the early days of my fandom were full of reading about how GT ended while I was only watching the Android stuff on TV, heh.

Edit: Oh yeah, and I got to thinking - I'm as unsure about a new Super Saiyan form as anyone else is, but thinking on it...it really does feel legit. To me, this whole movie seems kind of like what another arc after Buu may have been like if Toriyama had done one, sort-of. And what would he have done probably if we'd gotten another arc? We probably would have gotten another Super Saiyan form. So as 'meh' as it is, it still feels legit in a way too. That's my thinking on it anyway.

I noticed "Shenlong Comes Out" directly precedes "The Legendary God" in the track listing. Perhaps Shenlong has something to do with Goku reaching the form?

Based on the soundtrack listing, Goku becomes a Super Saiyan God thanks to Shenron, and Bills and Goku become friends at the end of the movie.

It does sound like Shenlong has something to do with it. Maybe they send Goku to see the original SSJG who tells him how to reach the form, that would explain the "Another Saiyan" part to.

More than the SSJ God, I'm interessted in what is Uisu's role in the story..... He's clearly not some Kaioshin like servant only.
And hell yeah, I need to see Kibitoshin and Old Kaioshin in the movie!!!

No, this time he seems to be talking about Super Saiyan God and the Hakaishin, his designing of Birusu, and how great the fight in the second half of the film is. You'll need to wait for a proper translation though, of course. xD

That's kind of an assumption, isn't it? We don't really know enough of about the story to assume that's all he is... I mean, from the scant footage that's been released, he seems to be doing a bit more physically than Kibit or Mr. Popo did.

I have a strong feeling that there will be nothing subtle about the design of SSJG. As of late, Toriyama has been making some pretty whacky designs... I just don't see it being "Kaio-Ken x9,999,999" or "SSJ2... now with extra glowiness!" I fully expect some off the wall clothes, hair, face, you name it.

Oh, and the next person to mention GT/SSJ4/Gogeta is gonna get thwacked.

Yeah, I'm thinking there just has to be way more to him than there was to either of those two. If there's not, why would they be making it such a point to keep us in the dark about him? It all just seems too deliberate, rather than nothing being said simply because there's nothing to say.

Also, I wonder how well this Super Saiyan God would stack up in a fight with SS4 Goge- *feels the death glare* ...Shutting up now. I had to.

To me, it's likely because Birus has beaten all other Saiyans and thinks he has definately won, and that's when Goku shows up for the final re-match, showing that there's "another Saiyan" left (or "one more Saiyan" now standing before him) before it's all over.
But we'll see! That's my bet at least, I think "One More Saiyan" is simply meant to be "I thought I was done here, but it seems there's one more Saiyan / another Saiyan I have to take care of in the end". And - how unlucky for him - that Saiyan turns out to be the supreme Saiyan.

Especially given that it's after the track "The Chosen Warriors" (who will all get beaten), then Goku must arrive (possible claiming that there's "One More Saiyan" he has to deal with), and that other Saiyan turns out to have become the Super Saiyan God (explaining the specific track for it just after).

I'm really hoping that this "Super Saiyan God" form ISN'T something that will overshadow or disallow for Super Saiyan 4 down the line. Not just because I don't need more GTR complications, either, but also because this movie has a lot more potential for reconciling some of the "problems" with GT and bridging the gap between it and Z, rather than just pretending it doesn't exist.

I also thought the same. The "another Saiyan" is Bills searching for another Saiyan after he defeated both Goku and Vegeta while trying to find the Super Saiyan God, and then Goku comes back with his new Eternal Dragon power up, the Super Saiyan God. Maybe the God in Super Saiyan God is a reference to Shenron.
