I treat the 40 tons thing as odd. Bulma's car seems to be a Volkswagen which is essentially around 1 ton. Some are around half a ton and some are above 1 ton. That means Goku only got 40 times stronger muscle wise without transformations which I find hard to believe. He also pushes a boulder that should be more than at least 10 tons when training with Muten Roshi. Another thing is even if you count the 40 tons he can lift them, just not train effectively with them. Kinda like how it took time for Gohan to train with the Z sword.Bussani wrote:So when Goku said, "40 tons? I wouldn't even be able to move!" what he meant was "40 tons? I don't find it that hard to believe, personally. I'm fine with lifting strength increasing that slowly. If we look at things like how much their weighted clothes weigh at different points in the series, or how much gravity they work with, forty tons (or higher, if he weren't flying) for Goku in the Buu arc doesn't seem that weird to me. It's more than double what Vegeta was dealing with in the previous arc.dbzfan7 wrote:I treat the 40 tons thing as odd. Bulma's car seems to be a Volkswagen which is essentially around 1 ton. Goku himself said that he wouldn't be able to move with that much weight, let alone train.Another thing is even if you count the 40 tons he can lift them, just not train effectively with them.
Things like moving that boulder seem like the odd things out to me, but I usually hand-wave that one by telling myself that lifting and pushing aren't exactly the same thing.Fox666 wrote:*snip*

Didn't Goku shoot a Kamehameha that tore a hole to another dimension in GT? How much energy would be needed to make a blast that powerful?
Re: Death Battle! Goku VS Superman Disscussion Thread
Doesn't mean he can't lift it. a lot of things people can lift that are heavy they can't move afterwards. I have seen people do that in large weight lifting competitions where they can't move after lifting the object, but they still can lift it. At the Gym when I use my legs and arms to lift something really heavy, I can't move afterwards or I'll fall over.Bussani wrote:Goku himself said that he wouldn't be able to move with that much weight, let alone train.
In "filler" (yes not the best way to support anything) he separates a mountain as a SSJ2. In path to power he is seen holding up several tanks easily and tosses them all away like nothing. I consider him to be able to do that around the time when he wipes out the Red Ribbon or at least as Teen Goku.
Toriyama isn't also a guy who focuses on feats like american comics do. He rarely focuses on any feats outside of fights. It's easy for him to forget or screw something up as shown he even forgot 18's hair color or lunch entirely. I personally think it makes no sense and could be an error.

Fair enough. The way it's said gives me the impression of someone not even being able to stand up with that much weight on them, and the way he reacts to the sudden increase adds to this, but that's just my interpretation.dbzfan7 wrote:Doesn't mean he can't lift it.Bussani wrote:Goku himself said that he wouldn't be able to move with that much weight, let alone train.
Maybe it's just because I barely remember anything from the anime, but yeah, I really don't have a hard time believing it.I personally think it makes no sense and could be an error.

Reality warps come in many varieties. There are a lot of sub groups with reality warping powers. Reality warps can be glass canons but they don't have to be. Super Sonic is a prime example of a broken reality warp. He is invulnerable, has no visible depths to his power, can control time and space, and is so strong he can bust entire multiverses. Also Goku lifted an entire city block in GT. Well over 100,000 tons.dario03 wrote:Reality warpers never made much sense to me. Its like how in Marvel they have a ton of people who "can destroy the whole universe or multiverse or whateververse". So what happens when one of them does it? Do they just easily kill each other? Are they all glass cannons or something?
When did they say that 160,000 tons is his best without ki? I thought that it was his best with ki. If he could do so much more then why did SS4 Goku and Vegeta struggle holding up a building that was probably only around a couple 100 thousand tons.JP6GAMER wrote:But don't forget; the 160'000 tons is his best without ki! Thing is, I imagine when he uses his Ki, he isn't using it the entirety of the time through the entirety of his body. It's more like, when he throws a punch, he puts his ki into his punch. When he blocks, he puts his ki into what he's blocking with, and so on. If you think of it that way, using your ki to move with 40 tons would require continuous use of ki, which might not even be all that feasible.Bussani wrote:So when Goku said, "40 tons? Though of course, I'm just speculating.

Not only Superman's power is inconsistent (ScrewAttack mentioned this), but when taking Superman's full power into consideration, how can we ignore that he could lift Earth alone? How can we ignore him flying from Earth to Sun in less than 2 minutes while was fighting against Wonder Woman all that time? How can we ignore that he took an explosion that was equal to 15 supernovas? I'm not a fan of Superman, but that's what I learned from that video. I did saw scans from the comics & scenes from the animated series proving all these things. I guess that Goku can most likely defeat some of Superman's other versions, but what we saw in the Death Battle was Modern Age Superman at full power, and Goku doesn't seem stronger than that.

Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

King kai said that Freeza is capable of destroying the universe , and at that time he didn't even know that Freeza have more 3 forms .
Goku (after defeating King picolo) was faster than the lightning , so of course Freeza is faster than the light .
