I was thinking: what if for the Boo-arc they were to cheap out and would end up not reanimating any scenes? Would you be for it, or against it?
Me, I'm kinda in between. I don't particularly love the reanimated scenes, though some look great (which proves that modern Dragon Ball artwork doesn't suck simply because it's digital), but it would also hurt consistency with the previous part of Kai, though I'm sure people will already claim it's an inconsistent mess for the redrawn scenes and replaced score.
So, what are your thoughts on this theoretical outcome?

Re: What if Toei were to ditch the reanimated scenes?
They need reanimated shots sometimes, it's the only way they can adapt the show to widescreen (which is used here in France for example, Kai doesn't exist in 4:3 here since France specifically asked Toei for widescreen version to build their master on, and they will likely have the same demands for the Boo saga, so Toei has to keep making widescreen versions for the internationnal markets' DVDs).
So I think they won't ditch it, because they have to make widescreen shots, or correct damaged shots and possibly coloring mistakes sometimes.
At first, your question made me think of them using the Ultimate Tenkaichi reanimated scenes for Gohan's "mystic" form and Boo having been destroyed!

Since I dislike the Kai artstyle (not because it's really bad, but more because it's too far from Toriyama's), for me it would be a good thing.

The redrawn stuff during Gohan's fight with Cell in the Cell Games was gorgeous. I wish they could do things with that quality for the rest of Kai.

He's an ineffably charming bastard who's manly leanings were really incendental, and yes, the fact that he was voiced by a squeaky woman made the combination perhaps all the more charming.

Kuririn on Cell's saga looked like he was taken from a java animated game. Bleh.penguintruth wrote:The redrawn stuff during Gohan's fight with Cell in the Cell Games was gorgeous. I wish they could do things with that quality for the rest of Kai.
Either do it properly, or just use the old footage.

I could be proven wrong later, but I believe the Buu arc will have to next to no re-drawn footage. This isn't airing in Japan (yet), so they'd probably only redraw what they absolutely have to (like the scenes with blood spray or strobing lights, or what I like to call the "seizure effect.")
Given Kai's performance in its home country, Toei's probably just trying to it done quickly, cheaply, and out the door. I just hope the VAs are still giving it their damnedest, despite the (most likely) rushed production.

Nothing matters (in a cosmic sense.) Have a good time.
