I am sooo glad that we're getting better animation for this movie. :D I wasn't impressed by what I saw in the last few ones. I was worried the One Piece has hogged all the best animators...
The last two weren't actually movies, so of course they don't look as good as Battle of Gods does. Also, One Piece Film Z wrapped in November, so there's been enough time for any good animators to work on this movie.

Whoops, I was talking about the trailers, not the recent low budget specials.

Dragon Ball Z is still more popular than One Piece.. its made more money!
I don't think it's more popular now, and it's the present that matters.

This is just proof that my first viewing of it cannot be just some bootleg with subtitles. I need this to be in a theater or released on blu-ray or something to take full advantage of that beautiful HD animation. Grrr, I may have to wait a long time.

I don't think they'll be 'choosing' anything soundtrack wise. They'll probably use exactly what's there in the Japanese version, as they have with all of the recent stuff. The days of FUNi using replacement music are over I'm pretty sure, thankfully (even though I enjoyed a lot of those scores too).
I think this is true too, the only reason they ever used replacement music in the first place was because they were (at first) worried that modern American children would not like the original and wouldn't pay attention to it so they had music constantly playing. Now they know DBZ can stand on it's own as it's Japanese version has become more well known amongst people outside of Japan.

... and while it's true DBZ is not as big as it used to be here (mostly due to the fact that, like in Japan, the show is over now)... it's still got popularity with all those who grew up with it.

There's not as much of a DBZ market as there once was in the 90's here in United States. Ask how many of your friends even still like to watch Dragon Ball Z, let alone playing the games. I can understand this one not being in theaters, maybe 5 people including me will show up at first midnight showing? LOL i can imagine that.
Pretty much this. This movie is not going to be a huge money maker as people make it out to be if it does get a wider release. Movies do well since they market them outside the fan base. If you only sell your movie to the fans then you will get less money since you have a limited target audience. That's why movies like Final Fantasy 7: Advent Children was release direct to video here in the US.

I love little tidbits that add to the dragonball universe! I hope they'll be more back story about Kaio and the god of destruction! Maybe a Frieza one.

The HD; it looks so beautiful~ *_*

Also, managed to screen-grab directly after Goku's teal ki-explosion near the end--that's probably not part of the transformation sequence; he looks the same after, he's not even in ssj. The blue aura thing that Birusu's gawking at has way more possibility.

Anyone else notice that before that aura burst, Goku has an almost Kaioken-like coloration? The same happens next to Birusu's "sun" techniques, though there doesn't seem to be one nearby in that scene, so I find it interesting that there is a red tint...

Ssjg as just a super-kaio-ken; that would be something else.

Whoever edits these commercials has a really good handle on throwing a lot at you while purposely not giving away the spoilers.

It does give me the spare time to try and design my own version of ssjg form before the official one appears (people have already been doing their own versions on DA) but I'm still super curious about what the official form looks like.

I bet Amazon or one of the toy makers are going to end up leaking it preemptively by mistake. >_>

Either way, when you think about it, we'll probably know what it looks like in just two weeks anyway with that preview-screening on the 12th. At the very least there will be descriptions somewhere.

I'm torn, because I did my own design from the low quality version of the trailer. I imagined the form seeming more energy based might be the only way to remain similar to the old designs, without just falling pray to the same old "longer hair, spikier hair, less bangs, etc." type changes. I had just assumed that the Oozaru was a metaphorical vision, like with the anime's SS3 transformation and Goku's defeat of Daimao. But looking at the higher quality version, the big ape seems to be real, as he's destroying rocks and reigning debris down around him. So I'm probably in the completely wrong ballpark design wise...though I guess that still assumes that the monkey has anything to do with the transformation.

Gah, I hate this, Just spoil the thing already. xD

Re: TheDevilsCorpse

Very cool! He looks like a sun (wants to make a Kaio-sama-type "Sun Goku" pun even though it'd be a bad pun because the name's pronounced "Sown". Kind of makes it anyway) or some kind of star in person-form.

Re: AnimeMaakuo

I said "at the very least". I already know that movie-theater screenshots will show up; I was just trying to be all legal and "support the official release" here. >_> Nothing wrong with that.

That one I favorited on DA; it shouldn't take too long to find.

That Goku fanart seems to be basing itself off of Naruto's recent transformation.

It's actually based off this alternate style redesign of SS3. The guy might be rude, but I still liked the concept: http://browse.deviantart.com/art/Re-DBZ ... -322467866

That is strange, but I think it's not an actual transformation, like one second there's appears to be nothing around Goku, and then he's got rocks beneath him. Not just that, but if you pay attention to the sky, the Oozaru looks like it's on earth rather than space, which is where Goku and Birusu appear to be.

I really like the picture but if they did that it would remind of Naruto. :P

It's possible the oozaru's just there as a visual red herring; all the footage in the trailer is so wildly spliced and in such tiny snippets that for all we know the oozaru causing destruction could just be a regular flashback-type thing that shows up while Kaio-sama's explaining something or other.

In the Oozaru scene, if you pause at the right moment you can actually see a castle-like thing. I'm tempted to think that that's Pilaf's castle. :P
