What I think he's getting at is that simply recoloring something is a really half-assed way to design "new" things.

It'd be like if I took Piccolo's design, recolored him red or something, and named him "Flute", and used him as a separate character.

There are several animes like this, and video games (Mortal Kombat).

Even for important characters?

I know the Transformers franchise does it a lot, but rarely ever with important characters (Ultra Magnus is the only one off the top of my head; Thundercracker and Skywarp are hardly "important").

Hardly believe Super Saiyan God will be like anything any fan came up with so far.. Since the existence of SSj4, everyone's imagination has been locked on that, except gold or something. I just don't think Akira Toriyama is a person to do that. His designs have always been original(would anyone have imagined SSj3 to look the way it looks, before it happened? Or the super original villain designs) and will be original as well for the new upcoming transformation.

I hope SSJG will be something original and different. I remember a lot of people wanted SSj4 to have gold fur instead of red, but I doubt it will be another SSj4 copy.

Not really opposed to it, Just not looking forward to that. I like the design on it better than SSj4 and I think SSj4 should've been gold, but I really don't want it in the movie. If that happens, the excitement dies for me personally...

A quick Google Translation doesn't seem to reveal anything important in those Furukawa tweets, but I definitely don't want to say for certain until we get a real translation.

I know it's weird to bring this up again, but hearing updates from voice actors makes me sad that we won't be getting Hiroko Emori back as Chaozu. And really, I don't even know why I care. But everyone else is getting their voice actors back. And really, is Emori even acting in anything right now? Let her be a part of the fun, too.

Expanding on my original notes of how I think he'll look from page 357:

Concerning the design of SSJ God Goku, I wouldn't be surprised if elements were taken from the major villan's apparel.

After all, when Gohan trained with the Z sword, he was dressed to parallel the Kaioshin clothing at the time.
When Goku was on his way back to Earth, he adopted the clothing of the Yardrat's before being sent on his way.

If nothing else, this would place visual cues for viewers that Goku is indeed on par with said God of Destruction.

(I'm starting to think elements of the hand-drawn SSJ5 drawing with "Silver hair" Goku from many years back might actually make an appearance!)

Take the overall apparel style as shown:



Combine it with a potential look (as shown previously in fan-art):



You should potentially end up with a version of this, minus the fur and absurd colors, and a more subtle mane of gold hair:



However, we could be in for a surprise as I'm sure the producers would be aware of the many fan art pieces and may decide to steer away from these completely, or at best, add minimal features from the above as a nod to fans.

(I, for one, would be pleasantly surprised if the final result is nothing even remotely close to what I've portrayed above!)

I took a SSj3 and redrew it on SAI, added eyebrows because honestly I hope he has eyebrows in the new form... Anyone agree? .__.

What about something more original than going further into the direction that has already been taken with the SSJ3. What about a Super Saiyan with orange/red firy hair and aura, or who fights eyes closed, more similar to a master martial artist rathen than a simple warrior, ect.

I have a feeling that since it's a Super Saiyan stage, gold hair will be involved. Since GT isn't a factor, everything related to Super Saiyan has involved gold hair. That's the iconic look of the Super Saiyan. For all we know it looks just like regular Super Saiyan, but with some kind of crazy aura with all kinds of special effects to signify the godliness of it. But then again, I'd honestly not be surprised to see something vaguely similar to elyas11's design.

I will be so happy, if the design is simpy SSJ with some effects!
That's my idea of SSJ God. It will scrap completelly those SSJ2 and SSJ3 build-ups. Simply a mastery of SSJ awakening power rivalling those of gods.
It will be also a return to the roots with the transformation to SSJ against Freeza.

Edit: It will also be high troll level, as we will have the SSJ God on the poster for the movie allready.

Yes, I hope it has eyebrows. That's the only thing I hate from SSj3. I can understand the forehead but... good god. I remember the first time I watched it. I was displeased. I have come to accept it but... c'mon, I really hope it has something else.

Actually the Naruto Sage Mode idea isn't that bad. The sage of ninjas was almost like a god (making a moon and controlling the yuubi), so his "godly" aura is not far-fetched. Flame, energy, brilliance... but of course, none of the other gods had looked like that soooo.
