Could Kai get ANOTHER rescore?

Re: Could Kai get ANOTHER rescore?
I happened to have a chance to talk with one of the staff members after the taping of Hoko x Tate. Now I know the score they're using for the Buu arc of Kai, BUT I can't let it out. Hmm...

Hmm, I'm very curious. If it's not a direct question, people who would like something new, will be happy?kei17 wrote:I happened to have a chance to talk with one of the staff members after the taping of Hoko x Tate. Re: Could Kai get ANOTHER rescore?
Thx! Whoa... 1 or just 0,5 series with 3 composer. But I thought, Kikuchi's score is the cheapest way.kei17 wrote:Yes.Sani wrote:Hmm, I'm very curious. Re: Could Kai get ANOTHER rescore?
It'll be very cool if it's not the old Kikuchi score.
My expectations would be that for the new score of the Kai Boo saga, they'll use music they already already have, which would mean either the Takaki scores for Plan to Eradicate the Super Saiyans and Ultimate Tenkaichi's reanimated scenes, or simply the tracks from the new upcoming movie (they've used movie tracks in the new Kikuchi score, so they could also say "tracks for the new movie shall be used for the new Kai episodes as well while we're at it").
Perhaps both of these at the same time, since it's all "recent Dragon Ball stock music" in the end.
Plus, if they want recent songs for the new opening and ending, not only do they still have Orange Hero from the 2008 special, but they have the two Flow songs from Battle of Gods which they could use as the opening and ending respectively!
All of this to say:
I don't expect it to be never-heard-before and made-just-for-Kai, but with the recent and upcoming productions, they have a lot of new modern tracks they can re-use, so it might be the way it'll go!
Can't wait to find out the answer, but they won't communicate any info on it anytime soon, they're focused on Battle of Gods until its release!
No old Kikuchi score, that can only get us a more "refreshing" feeling for the "refreshed" version of the show!

Re: Could Kai get ANOTHER rescore?
People hoping for something new will be pleased... Very interesting given that it's an international-only release. I wonder if people hoping for a second rescore of the earlier arcs for the sake of improvement/consistency will be pleased.
Re: Could Kai get ANOTHER rescore?
Incidentally, it's not Hiroshi Takaki.

I know the Kikuchi tracks have really sporadic placement, but for consistency's sake, I still want Kikuchi...
I hope to god it's new Kikuchi compositions, or maybe new arrangements of Kikuchi's pieces. Regardless of what it is, as long as it's good I won't have too many complaints I guess.

Wow, interesting! This drastically reduces the possibilties!kei17 wrote:Incidentally, it's not Hiroshi Takaki.
Actually, out of my guesses, that leaves only one: I place my final bet on the composer from Battle of Gods, I'm about 93% sure of it, we'll see - or hear - if this was a good guess in due time!

I know I might step out of bounds here, and you absolutely don't have to reply, but can you at least tell us what was your reaction when hearing what it will be - even without revealing any hint as to what score it will be.

Like, were you surprised or more like "oh well, kind of what I'd expect..."

Re: Could Kai get ANOTHER rescore?
That's very interesting and nice to know that it won't be old BGMs from DBZ.
Just hope the composer will make enough BGMs to have variety between each episode, thing which didn't happen with Kai's Kikuchi version.

Re: Could Kai get ANOTHER rescore?
I don't mind Kikuchi for Kai. But, I think it was a smart move to switch to a new score for the Buu arc. But, it's kinda funny for me that since I got the Yamamoto prints of the Saiyan/Freeza arcs, each part of the series basically has its own music now.

Brings more variety and personnal identity for each arc!SSJ4 Furanki wrote:But, it's kinda funny for me that since I got the Yamamoto prints of the Saiyan/Freeza arcs, each part of the series basically has its own music now.
I guess it would have been better if you could have Yamamoto for the Cell arc and Kikuchi for the Saiyans/Freezer one: not only Yamamoto's new tracks for the Cell arc are the best he did for the show, but Gohan's transformation into a Super Saiyan 2 loses most of its impact with the new Kikuchi score (which uses a pretty generic track for that scene)!
But hey, it's still better than the French version for which we had only the new Kikuchi score released, since the Yamamoto problem had already occured long ago when they started releasing it!

At least, you got a different score for the various arcs as you said, it's still something quite interesting to own!

Re: Could Kai get ANOTHER rescore?
I'd have preferred it the other way around too, the Kikuchi track used also steals all emotion from Goku's death, and basically everything in the arc, but Kikuchi seems like an improvement over Yamamoto for the Freeza arc, especially the Super Saiyan transformation.

Haha, I agree! But it's impossible to change that, unfortunately. Wish we still got that Gohan theme though.Cold Skin wrote:I guess it would have been better if you could have Yamamoto for the Cell arc and Kikuchi for the Saiyans/Freezer one: not only Yamamoto's new tracks for the Cell arc are the best he did for the show, but Gohan's transformation into a Super Saiyan 2 loses most of its impact with the new Kikuchi score (which uses a pretty generic track for that scene)!

Re: Could Kai get ANOTHER rescore?
I'd have preferred it how it was originally intended: Original Soundtrack by Kenji Yamamoto
Kikuchi's limited selection of BGMs were a replacement not the genuine music of the series. I'm so glad my Kai Parts 1-4 all have the original broadcast music, phew.

Re: Could Kai get ANOTHER rescore?
Speaking of Yamamoto, what's the current situation with him now? Does he still work for Toei? If so, will he ever be given a second chance to compose music, maybe even for the Buu Saga?
Re: Could Kai get ANOTHER rescore?
That's highly unlikely on both accounts. The Japanese are known to take copyright infringement very seriously. He'll probably have a hard time getting another composing job at all.Fennekin wrote:Speaking of Yamamoto, what's the current situation with him now? Does he still work for Toei? Re: Could Kai get ANOTHER rescore?
He's not Toei's employee. He worked for Office Two-One, but was fired and now is a freelance music arranger. He is refraining voluntarily from composition, and occasionally arranges songs released by Lantis.Fennekin wrote:Speaking of Yamamoto, what's the current situation with him now? Re: Could Kai get ANOTHER rescore?
This isn't just copyright infringement, it's straight-up plagiarism. The former is just using another guy's work without permission. The latter is using his work and claiming it as your own. From an ethical standpoint, that's a thousand times worse.CaBrPi wrote:That's highly unlikely on both accounts. The Japanese are known to take copyright infringement very seriously. To a strong man, the end justifies the means. To a stronger man, the means justify the end.
Re: Could Kai get ANOTHER rescore?
Oh wow, there was an update on that front? I'm a bit surprised we know something so concrete about Yamamoto's current work. To be voluntarily refraining from composing makes sense. I suspect the guilt must be terrible.kei17 wrote:He's not Toei's employee. He worked for Office Two-One, but was fired and now is a freelance music arranger.
