Well, it's fine in any case so long as we exercise restraint as individuals.Insertclevername wrote:Which is fine in this case as a release for us may be far down the road. I mean we will at least have to wait by the end of the year to see the damn thing (if and only if that's when it's given a release by FUNi at that time).JulieYBM wrote:This is Japan we're talking about. But it would make going on the forum a pain in the ass. Might as well just be spoiled. Though different strokes for different folks I guess. =P

I'm hoping for all the spoilers I can possibly get. :3
*Is also planning on buying this movie's ani-manga and artbook once/if/hopefully listings appear for them online.*
The WCF Vegeta mystery is still frustrating to me because I don't know what he's about and I've been waiting since November on that one. >_>

That is such an awesome trailer. That look on Bulma's face really sells it.

I would love a trailer using that "Hero" song.

I don't want to add more fuel to the fire that is the whole "canon" discussion (argument) among fans.. but it seems to me like Toriyama's involvement is being used as a major selling point for this movie. It's awesome that he's involved and all, making this movie truly special, but it definitely seems like they're somewhat acknowledging the whole fan idea that "if it's not written by Toriyama, it doesn't count." I mean just look specifically at some of the lines Toei used in their little promo thingy back in July:
Just seems like the fact that it's (to quote them) "neither a spin-off nor a side-story" is being officially used as a selling point for this movie. I have a feeling, depending on the content of this movie, discussion of its "canonicity" will become more common.consistently realized as a Toriyama work, with the original author Akira Toriyama himself deeply involved from the script stage for the first time ... A new story in the official history of Dragon Ball is born, neither a spin-off nor a side-story

Having the manga creators involved in the anime movies is all the rage in Japan right now. Look at the last few big time anime movies you've heard of and look how much the author of the source material was marketed towards it.FindKenshi wrote:I don't want to add more fuel to the fire that is the whole "canon" discussion (argument) among fans.. but it seems to me like Toriyama's involvement is being used as a major selling point for this movie. "Strictly speaking, it’s between the comic’s “final chapter” and “just before that”. GT isn’t part of the original work, after all." He did say it wasn't a part of the original work, to me it sounds like it's implied that he's ignoring it. With Akira Toriyama so deeply involved and how he "tried thinking up an original story, imagining it as though the mangas serialization had comtinued". Then there's Toeis, "consistently realized as a Toriyama work, with the original author Akira Toriyama himself deeply involved from the script stage for the first time ... A new story in the official history of Dragon Ball is born, neither a spin-off nor a side-story". Still seems like it's implied GT is gonna be ignored, especially since Toriyama called that a side story, and this is stated to not be a side story. You're right though, it's never actually stated.JeffJarrett wrote:.
You misunderstand the scriptwritter's words. He said the movie was placed near the end of the manga series, and after all, GT isn't part of the original story (the manga). That's all he said, not that he was ignoring GT and that it's not canon. Really, you're spreading false rumors.

Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2013 Movie Thread: "Battle of Gods
After watching the trailer, I believe that we can say (with some certainty) that the SSJ God form has a shockingly vivid blue aura and up swept hair (which appears for a microsecond within the blue aura enveloping him).
Birisu seems to watch on in awe, so this form must be rather substantial, given that he can halt a SSJ3 with a fingertip.
Everything else is simply not shown, including hair color and clothing.
However, once could assume that the transformation itself manifests in space due to the blackness surrounding Goku. Although, even this assumption could be incorrect, as this could be reminiscent of his SSJ3 transformation where he was shown in a blacked out background for a brief moment.
Rather intrigued at this point!

Something's been really bothering me. Did anyone else notice that Kaio's halo is present in the shot with Goku (in a tracksuit!), but it's missing in the scene where he freaks out. I don't think it's off-screen either.

Not sure if anyone brought this up, but we've seen in GT as well that Kaio's planet is restored, and was never told how. Maybe they came with an explanation now and that could be part of the reason?

What, really? I remember only scene with kaio, talking to Goku from the planet of Dai Kaio, when they used black star dragon balls.Dorexx wrote:Not sure if anyone brought this up, but we've seen in GT as well that Kaio's planet is restored, and was never told how. The "original work" means the manga (the comics), the scriptwriter is talking about the movie's placement in the manga in this whole sentence and GT isn't part of manga, which is an obvious fact.Strictly speaking, it’s between the comic’s “final chapter” and “just before that”. GT isn’t part of the original work, after all.
First it is a commercial announcement, secondly it's not a side-story because it doesn't take place during a major arc contrary to the other movies (Saiyan Arc for 1-3, Freeza Arc for 4-5, Androids/Cell Games for 6-9, Majin Buu for 10-13).consistently realized as a Toriyama work, with the original author Akira Toriyama himself deeply involved from the script stage for the first time ... A new story in the official history of Dragon Ball is born, neither a spin-off nor a side-story
