It's the Outer World Budokai all over again, but at least, one of the advantage of CG graphics is that you can make better cover-up than flat-out SSJ with black hair.

According to the scriptwriter, Gohan doesn't transform to SSJ in the actual movie. It seems that they colored Gohan's hair differently only for promotional stuff.

This kind of reminds me of before Sonic 4 was released. They showed some of the game, and there was so much backlash for a specific stage that they actually changed it entirely for the final release.

I guess they colored his hair yellow for the sake of unity. If he's the only Saiyan with black hair in the poser, that would look a little weird to those who don't know or remember Ultimate Gohan. I still have no idea about early trailers and screenshots, though.

Yeah, and old images I used to see on the internet all the time. Though I'm relieved, it's somehow sorta disappointing to my inner 10-year-old.

I can't stop laughing at the removed SSJ Gohan thing, was it really that big of a deal? Makes me wonder if Kaio's world being back is also another mistake since it was completely vaporized by Cell. Quick, someone bring that up to Watanabe, hahaha.

Now no more talk about fucking Gohan being a Super Saiyan or GT because it's so annoying.

You should've seen the threads of people bitching when this movie first released. I hate to be that one guy that says "I told you so," but I told you guys that Gohan being a SSJ is just so he can fit in with the promotional image of the other SSJs.

Obviously they planned to have Gohan not transform all along, and they created alternative shots/drawings specifically for promotionnal unity between the characters.
I bet they were perfectly aware of his "mystic" form since the very beginning and the Super Saiyan stuff was never a mistake, just a totally wanted promotionnal asset.

I always thought that with all the staff members involved, it would be amazing if there wasn't one single person to tell the others "wait, he's not supposed to be Super Saiyan", especially since they had it right for movie 13!
But I didn't think they would go as far as creating Super Saiyan shots just for promotion, I thought they would definately use Super Saiyan Gohan after seeing the trailers, and come up with an explanation or pretend his mystic form never happened.
But I figured it was a deliberate choice on their part anyway, it wasn't possible that they ALL forgot about him, they surely knew what they were doing.

Glad that it turns out he won't transform in the end, the film is definately on a good start to fit logically with the manga on the contrary of other material for the franchise!

I can't see how it would be a deliberate choice when he appears that way in the trailers. Promotional art I could buy, but definitely not actual footage that's supposed to be from the film.
