Then he will be shown powering up to his Ultimate form... Do you expect more?!

I expected it from Toriyama, he's usually quite forgetful.
He was mostly consistent during the actual manga run. Like, even when Goku had to save the day, he did so without suddenly nerfing Gohan, with how he made Kid Buu weaker than Super Buu, etc. He always seemed to pay attention to details to keep things consistent, which makes it more sad that it all seems so half assed this time around. Especially if this was a last minute change.

I'm starting to wonder if some of those scenes from the first trailer will actually be in the final movie.

I talked about it real briefly on the latest podcast episode, but the second full length trailer -- I felt -- had a noticeable step up in animation from the first one. Like, big time step up. I'm wondering if there simply was not a ton of genuine footage from the movie done yet by the time they needed that first trailer, and some quick shots were animated to be tossed in. Heath even mentioned how Vegeta's aura seemed to be bigger and moved around, so at the very least, special effects and such are/were still being worked on between then and now.

I know it sounds so easy to say now, but the Gohan shot in that first trailer always bugged me. Something about it felt way more Episode of Bardock-quality in terms of animation than other stuff, like Birusu and the egg. I'm sure there are multiple groups working on different shots of the movie, and that could easily explain the disparity, but still... something felt "off" about it, like it wasn't "real" or at least "final".

The great thing is that since it's 2013, we have a total, complete, documented history of every single last aspect of everything relating to the movie...! All we need is another month to go by!

As long as it doesn't look as bad as the Budokai 3 opening did for the reverse situation.

Looks quite obvious, here! It feels like a mere, plain recoloring of all-black hair! :D

Looks like whether it's on poster, trailers or game openings, several people think it's best to have Gohan being Super Saiyan like the rest to convey the envy of playing/watching the whole thing! 8)

That was nearly 18 years ago now though, he's been very forgetful in recent times when it comes to DB. They might not weaken Gohan, they probably will, but they could just make Goku a lot more powerful. Toriyama was usually consistent with the power levels in the mangas original run to be fair to him. He did nerf Gohan at the start of the Buu arc though, although that arc in particular was very inconsistent.

We probably won't ever know if it was a last minute change now, we may be able to tell when the movie is released though. I for one will wait and judge it then. :)

I wanna try drawing some fresh SSJG ideas. What ideas do people have? (got an art block and what's better than just trying to find out how SSJG looks like at the moment lol)
At least it's related to the movie ;)

It's well known in the Japanese animation industry that television episodes (and films) are rarely ever finished until the last minute (although One Piece Film Z was supposedly finished a full month before it hit theaters, judging by Sasaki's tweet). I would suspect this is equally true for higher-budget productions, like this movie. I remember there being a comparison shot of Madoka Magica where the Blu-ray release had more detail in a shot compared to the broadcast version. That being said, I do believe we'll see most if not all of the scenes from the first full trailer in the movie, simply with the animation given another once over. I would agree, espicially for the first trailer, that the animation likely skipped the frills to put out a trailer for theaters to run. There's a shot of Gotenks with a gold aura in the first trailer despite having his normal form features. I would suspect that the finished movie will color correct his hair and eyes. With digital technology the shot of Gohan shouldn't be too hard to alter, whether by changing colors or adding new shading and folds to his clothes. If we weren't dealing with Toei Animation I wouldn't be surprised if the Blu-ray release of the film edits the animation further.

Man, the 7+ month wait for this to be out on DVD and Blu-ray is going to be killer.

"Over saturation is easy. Just drag the slider to the right and there you are: instant interest. And certainly, the majority of the public likes saturated color images. In fact, if you want to quickly create a popular image, simply over saturate the colors and increase the contrast. While you may not achieve a sophisticated image, you will achieve an image that will please a less demanding audience." - Alain Briot

The movie should be out on DVD and Blu-Ray in September. It often takes five or six months for movies to come out on home video in Japan. Ultraman Saga came out March 2012 and it was released on home video in September from what I can remember.

I'm just gonna restate my theory that Pilaf&Co. accidentally wish themselves into children via Shen Long. As a tongue-in-cheek reference to GT.

The Naruto movies come out after 8 months. I think it's the same for the the One Piece movies.
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.

Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

Pilaf tries to wish for eternal youth, but Shenlong mishears him and just grants him "youth" period?
That could be fun. XD

Re: ssjg design theories

I went with very pale blond-almost-white hair (also eyebrows) and golden irises/pupils myself. I'd link but DA happens to be down atm.

If there is any merit to the blue glow though, it could be black hair/eyes with a blue kaio-ken type thing; I've always liked the look of the red kaio-ken, and while a blue one wouldn't look all that original, I think I'd still like it.

Re: DVD release

Also pulling for September/October.
It's hilariously frustrating knowing that one of the preview screenings is on my birthday, and I can't go to the theater to see it because I'm halfway around the world. XD
At least I should, a few weeks from now, finally learn what's up with Vegeta. I have to give Toei credit for keeping both that and the ssjg design under wraps; they've successfully kept enough info hidden where I can't even really piece together a theory without most of the theory being without plot facts to go on.

Going by the soundtrack, Shenlong doesn't appear until later. It could be off screen, but I think they'd wish them selves back to normal after. I think Uisu is going to do something to them, I hope he does anyway, He could say something like, "It's about time you acted your age" and then he turns them into kids. I need info on Uisu!!! :P

I like that Pilaf idea too. X3

If that comes true, I'd think Uisu's magic is behind WCF Vegeta as well.

I guess it's different with Naruto. I remember other Japanese films came out like five or six months after they were release. Kamen Rider × Kamen Rider Wizard & Fourze: Movie War Ultimatum comes out on DVD & Blu-Ray this May and the movie came out last December.
