Wow, they sure are dragging these releases out. At this pace all the Ultimate uncuts won't be out, until well into 2008 or even 2009! :(

I'm still not too hot on the color schemes and designs and such, but I do have to admit they're looking significantly hotter than the first few ones. I really like that Kaio-Ken/Kamehameha Goku.

A pair of volumes released every two months would be ideal . . . but I suppose there's still something to be said for anticipation, because I can't wait to get these! I'm the sucker who steals from his savings the morning of each release and squeezes in a trip to Wal-Mart on his way to work.

I do dig these covers, but really I'm just happy that FUNimation decided to backtrack and re-release these episodes at all. Imagine if they hadn't?

That's pretty funny, since they aired all of the "Ultimate Uncut" episodes up until the Captain Ginyu Saga on the 10:00 (or was it 10:30?) time slot of Cartoon Network in a month or two!

This is FUNimation we're talking about, the true masters of milking it. :P

I like how they redrew the screen shots. Anyone know who did it?

There's a fine line between milking a product and prolonging releases to the point of being completely ridiculous. What is the point of separating the releases? It ain't making them cash, is it?

If they're continuing to "seperate the releases", then yes, it is making them money. Otherwise, they wouldn't still be doing such a thing... :P

Yes, it's way too drawn out and everything, but hey...

You're right. Think about it. People are more prone to buy things when they have to wait for it. It gives them something to look foreward to.

:P Goku's Kaio-ken Kamehameha looks really nice. I've always had one question about these...Does Toei draw these images?

The Piccolo picture reminds me of EX's review when he first reviewed the post-Saban/Pioneer DBZ DVDs. Namely his reaction when he first heard the music and changes in dubbing. Or was his reaction best seen in movie 4, when Piccolo first heard Gohan whistling? :P <-(That was a joke based on that one review, EX.)

But seriously though, I am wondering if they are trying to stretch this out for any reasons other than making money. Because at a business perspective, they could be stretching this out in hopes of getting a new licensing deal... or even looking at what they could do once they finish this part of the franchise.

Or maybe... just maybe... they are looking into getting the Dragon Box rights, and need to take their time until they get it. (I know how that can happen, but I hope they will agree to it.) All I know is that it doesn't always have to be about money. There are other reasons.

But besides that, EX is right... the Goku cover kicks butt. But I also think they chose a good image of Vegeta, too. 8)

I don't think it's anything like that. If FUNimation wants to make a Dragonball DVD set where all the episodes are in a box or two they can just go ahead and do it. For them Dragonball is a money maker and well, they would want to keep that going for as long as they can. Iam not saying them re-dubbing season 1 and 2 is just to make some money, but the time in wich they are released probley is. Also another reason for the long span of releases is that now they have a lot of other stuff to release on DVD other then Dragonball.

Saying the funi milks dbz is like saying that Marval milks Spiderman... They have to milk it, it is thier bread and butter.

@ Tanooki Kuribo: I understand. But what I am saying is that there could be more to this than we are being told. But yeah, they will eventually do a DVD box set of the series. And I can only assume it will be after they finish the sagas. But what I would like is for them to do something that would possibly be a radical move, and is one I can see being a winning move (if they are willing to do it). And best of all, they do not have to sacrifice what they are currently doing.

@ Tanooki Kuribo: Marvel is not really milking Spider-Man anymore. They are just making changes that the fans generally hate... and hope to correct it with the new Iron Spider suit. So I would say that FUNimation is doing what Toei is doing, which is milking the money cow with their biggest franchises.

My only hatred of these covers is that they look very out of place next to the later sagas. All on their own, they look marvelous.

WOW! The vegeta dvd cover is off the hook. Do you have a bigger screen cap please? This covers are really "buy me" things, just knowing that they don't look that great the episodes but in my opinion these covers are more attractive than the japanese covers.
Goku:HYAAAH!
Buu:Haa...Haaa
Vegeta:What the hell is going on here?

Sorry for this,it's my attempt at humor.
Hahaha!

 More attractive than the Japanese covers? BLASPHEMY! These may be pretty good, but the Japanese DVD Covers that Toei is shelling out far surpasses 'em. :P
