Everything about this is cool. To imagine, a Piccolo who's able to "let go" enough to experiment with other cultures and engage in some karaoke. Even if it seems that he can't sing too well. Maybe this is drunk Piccolo.. hah!

Its funny that you think Bilus looks weird if you look back at the other villains like Cell who is basically a giant bug, or Frieza who you can barely tell is even a dude, especially Majin Buu.. what is he, bubble gum?
or even better yet; Kirby's long lost cousin? HAHAHA

I think bills looks awesome, personally. I also like the aura thing he has going on, where his whole body sort of flashes with light, like when people are trying to hit him, and he just stands there tanking it. I really like the way he focuses his power. I'm looking forward to seeing him in action more. I hope much is explained about his back story.

I like how he's not a hulking beast such as someone like Broly and seems to have a good amount of intelligence and depth (his love of food is an interesting quirk for one) at the same time. He's looking to be one of the best villains in Dragon Ball history. The Toriyama touch always makes things better.

I'm from France and in my experience DBZ was much more popular than DB. Many kids used to draw characters from DBZ or collect the DBZ trading cards. Some of the DBZ movies were even released in theaters.sangofe wrote:Well, I know that the first DB series was really popular in France. Found it interesting to see "a view toward screenings overseas" and "putting in many gags, where previous theatrical productions were centered around battles" together because when I think of a lot of the base, particularly in the U.S. I think of fans who prefer the battles. It makes me curious about what aspects of DB are popular in other countries around the world.
The article really does sound like the Jump Tour 08 on a bigger, grander scale and I like that. *u*

I know Buriusu is gonna be a great villain in the movie. Has Buriusu become one of your favorite characters so far?

Birusu seems like he has potential to be really fun, I feel I need to know more about the character first though. He's certainly a challenge to draw. I hadn't drawn anthropomorphic characters really since somewhere around 7th grade so jumping back to doing that with Birusu's been an interesting struggle.SSJ4_Zankuto wrote:I know Buriusu is gonna be a great villain in the movie. Actually, if Birusu is the one behind whatever happens to Vegeta in that WCF figure, he will immediately jump up the list by quite a few notches. :3

I actually remember seeing Tree of Might here in Mexico, but it wasn't in any of the big theaters, just a small local one that closed a few years backEternal Super Saiyan wrote:Even in France these movies were in theaters?? America sucks! LOL
Plus Dragonball is surprisingly still pretty big here, every once in a while I see game cards, or sticker albums or stuff like that on signs hung up in mom and pop stores

I haven't gotten to ask; have any of Kanzenshuu forums' 3 residents-in-Japan gotten any of the early movie tickets for the 12th or 16th?

Dragonball is big everywhere. They even had some figurines for sale in Herat Afghanistan. They looked bootlegged as hell and I wish to God I'd had a camera.

Birusu looks badass IMO. I am always a sucker for the Egyptian styleEternal Super Saiyan wrote:Its funny that you think Bilus looks weird if you look back at the other villains like Cell who is basically a giant bug, or Freeza who you can barely tell is even a dude, especially Majin Buu.. what is he, bubble gum?or even better yet; Kirby's long lost cousin? I could like his design more if he was an actual jackal that went along with this Egyptian theme and not a cat. Oh well, maybe they didn't even think about Anubis at all to begin with.

It would have been cool if he was a Jackal, but Toriyama seems to love modelling the cats in the series after his own.

Only five of them, the others were direct-to-video releases.Eternal Super Saiyan wrote:Even in France these movies were in theaters?? America sucks! LOLMarco Polo wrote:Some of the DBZ movies were even released in theaters.
Movie 12 and Movie 13 were combined to be released as Dragon Ball Z: The Movie (skipping any release of Movie 10 and Movie 11 since they were deemed unworthy to be feature films in comparison, and not even released as direct-to-video until much later).
So to French fans, at a time when we weren't connected to the rest of the world, Movie 12 and Movie 13 were just one same big movie that had been meant to be the first high-budget Dragon Ball Z movie ever, with superb scenarios, awesome graphics and amazing special effects. We had absolutely no ideas that they were just short movies like any other past DB movie.
Basically, to us, it was the equivalent to the upcoming Battle of Gods back then, a movie having much more care taken for its making in all aspects to make it a big event theatrical release worldwide!
This also marked the first time we saw and heard a Japanese opening, being completely stunned by that opening (We Gotta Power) that we thought was a super-high-budget opening made specifically for this movie as well (see the French opening we were used to, which was used for the whole show, and you'll understand how there was no comparison necessary to make our jaws drop to the ground in amazement).
Later, France would try to capitalize on the success of that "big combined movie" and finally release Movie 10 and Movie 11 as one movie again.
But the fact that another event movie would go back in time and the scenario and overall aspects of those movies could hardly be as stunning as the Movie 12 and Movie 13, and the success was much more confidential for that second movie revolving around Broly's weird return while major characters were absent. Even as a fan, I didn't even go to see it in any theater, not did I buy the VHS. I only discovered them a few years ago, and saw how they were indeed no match for Movie 12 and Movie 13, and why that second "big combined movie" was not as successful as the first one.
Finally, The Way to the Strongest remake film, built to be a full-length theatrical release in itself, was also shown in theaters in France.
All other movies were direct-to-video releases.

Yeah, I remember this from Germany. The movie compilation was called Drachenfaust, if memory serves me well. I remember commercials and TV ads running for this movie.Cold Skin wrote:Only five of them, the others were direct-to-video releases.Eternal Super Saiyan wrote:Even in France these movies were in theaters?? There's no story behind it. And I think you should let it go. Just like Pilaf and gang are probably not transformed into being kids, but it's rather a stylistic choice by Toriyama.Chuquita wrote: Actually, if Birusu is the one behind whatever happens to Vegeta in that WCF figure, he will immediately jump up the list by quite a few notches. :3

It's been stated that the Pilaf gang will be turned into children though...

But.... we know that they've been turned into children.... It's kinda been confirmed for a while now.TRL wrote:Just like Pilaf and gang are probably not transformed into being kids, but it's rather a stylistic choice by Toriyama.
Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2013 Movie Thread: "Battle of Gods
Was it stated like "they were turned into children in the movie", or more like "they look like children now"?
