Hmmm that soundtrack translation seems to be some indication yeah. But that article with all the "?!!" 's I wouldn't take too seriously. Especially with the ssj gohan farce we know they like to mess with us. I mean the shot with Vegeta facing Birusu alone could just be an earlier scene in the movie and then they add the provoking caption of "Has vegeta met Birusu before?!!"

Them using Vegeta's armor for the other side of his is kinda funny; I guess they couldn't use that saiyajin emblem I've seen in the anime before because it's anime-only? (or has been forgotten?).

I can't imagine they would bring these over to the U.S. if only because I've never heard of that happening before with restaurant tie-in toys. It would be nice if they did though.

It's still possible that Vegeta has actually met him. Since it would have had to happened before the Saiyan Arc, he wouldn't be able to sense Birusu's power and know how strong he really was back then. So him being shocked at Birusu's power in the SD version, and possibly the movie, works...

What’s the story behind the birth of the plot line for “Battle of Gods”?!

It began two years ago. The ideas “God of Destruction” and “Super Saiyan God” were there from the start, but the worldview was pretty dark. So correcting this into a more “DB”-esque content kids could enjoy too was the catalyst for me becoming heavily involved in the story.

Interesting. This kinda implies that they were going for nostalgia if the film had to be altered to include "content kids could enjoy too."

Honestly, I'd be very interested in seeing the original, darker script. But since this is a kind of a one off, I don't think it would be a good time to stray from the classic Dragon Ball formula.

Me too. I like humor and gags (and I'm happy they're in the movie) but I can't help but be super-curious about what happened in the darker, original script. How dark did things get? Like One Piece Movie 6 dark? Very interesting stuff.

I'm sure pretty much the same stuff would have happened, just without the gags. Even this more funny version looks like it gets pretty dark when the actual fight starts.. I mean, Bills is sorta there to kill everyone and destroy the planet.

Kaiō telepathically contacts Vegeta to explain the situation, and notes that whatever he does, he must not anger Birusu, lest he destroy not only the Earth, but the entire galaxy. Vegeta is suitably freaked out, not least because of all the happy people enjoying themselves around him. As Kuririn plays with his daughter, Piccolo sings karaoke (much to the dismay of Goten and Trunks), and everyone toasts to Bulma’s good health, Vegeta looks over (eyes bugging out) to notice Birusu lounging on a deck chair across the way. Kaiō was not exaggerating: Birusu is indeed a big deal. The chapter closes on Birusu asking Vegeta about Super Saiyan God, and Vegeta repeating the words back at him. The ending narration says you will have to see the rest with your own eyes at the movie theater!

Guys. That is where the crazed Vegeta came from.
