If you mean Christian groups, the title says "Gods". Christianity is monotheistic. The title suggest polytheism. It doesn't have anything to do with their "God" (notice it's not plural).

If they have to, they could always go with the "kami to kami" subtitle instead; but I think that since the English one is plural does help it a bit. If anything is likely to offend people it's whenever the capitalized singular shows up (like on that 3ds cover).

Americans naturally want something to complain about.

For instance vegetarian groups just recently found out what my favorite sports team the Green Bay Packers 'packer' part stands for and wanted them to change their nickname.

It's in americas blood.

Christians have more power here in the states compared to Muslims due to long in rooted history. I doubt any Islamic groups would be upset over "Gods". If it mentioned "Allah" (the Arabic word for God), then this would be a different story.

I just hope we have no problems in the end if it does come to U.S theatres. Because if the title has to change then SSJG would probably have to change and maybe even Bills role, title. OH NO!

Nothing happened. Nobody brought it up. The cover here from a couple pages back:

See how it's first-person singular capitalization and with no specification (well, the silhouette's there) that it refers to a super saiyajin god, not just "GOD" like the cover reads.

It doesn't bother me, but it's possible it'd bother someone who doesn't know what DB is.

There's also the coincidence in timing; 3/30 is the day right before Easter this year.

I don't think it'll be an issue though, honestly. One of those "Lightning Thief" books has "Gods" in the title.

I really don't think DB is high enough in public consciousness in the U.S. atm for it to catch any easily-offended eyes. If this were like..13, 14 years ago I'd say yeah, but now? I don't think it'll make any bad waves once it comes over here.

They do. An upcoming DC fighting game is even called Injustice: Gods Among Us. It is just a title but still. And Retan is talking about if it were released in theaters in which case it might catch the eye of the public again.

Absolutely and that's really why I'm not to worried, but funimation has changed roles and names in the past, and I know funi hasn't licensed it yet, but I personally think it only a matter of time, and if they do with SSJG and Bills what they did with some other characters such a Kami well totally different movie.

Kami was guardian of the earth in the dub that i remember?

If left with no choice but to have it changed (at least in the dub, I feel like Funi'll be true to the source when it comes to the subtitles) I guess sticking with the aforementioned "Supreme Hakai, Bills" and "Super Saiyan Kami" would be passable substitutes.


You know, with only 2 days to go, this really feels all "calm before the storm". I don't think any new info aside from those screenshots earlier in the week has appeared and I wouldn't be surprised if Monday's Weekly Jump only has general non-spoilery info too.

The movie starts at 6:30pm in Japan and should let out a little bit before 8pm.
The opening ceremonies with the special guests happen at 6pm.

For me, that's 5:30am and 7am. XD
I have multiple rl forces working against me being able to wake up early that morning (daylight savings time starting tomorrow among them) but I'm going to do my best to wake up in time.

Oh! You're referring to the silhouette. I didn't even notice that. I thought there was another 3DS cover that had "God" written on it.

Damn it, that's 10:30pm and 12:00am. I also have school the next day, so I guess I'll have to wait till Wednesday afternoon.

Alternatively, I could get up early on Wednesday but I don't know how likely that is.
