Official On-Going DBZ 2013 Movie Thread: "Battle of Gods"

So, there are 4 legendary Super Saiyans from the ancient past currently, from all the official sources:

• The Super Saiyan, Bardock (from Episode of Bardock).
  The Super Saiyan God, an almost-Saiyan hero (from Battle of Gods).
  The Legendary Super Saiyan, a powerful, rampaging Saiyan born every 1000 years (From Movies 8, 10, 11).
  The Golden Oozaru, another powerful, rampaging Saiyan (from DBZ filler & GT Perfect Files).

Wow!

Super Saiyan 4 may also count with that last one - it's the form of the Golden Ohzaru that has gained his rationality.

Hi, I want no spoilers, but what I want to know is 1) is it better than the earlier dbz movies, and does it feel like Dragonball despite being made this much later? How's the music? And finally, is the animation good and fluid?

The best DB movie ever. EVER.

All the characters feel "in-character". The acting was astonishingly good. It's better than Kai. The score.. well, works. The whole movie was full of Toriyama like gags which are actually funny. The story is so-so. As for consistency I need more time to determine it.

By the way, the animation in the fight scenes was awesome.

I once said the score "worked" at least, but I didn't mean it's just okayish. It's clearly better than the Yamamoto score in Kai. Especially, the piece plays in the scene when Goku transforms into SSJG was awesome. No offence to Yamamoto fans, but now I think it's good that it wasn't him.

Honestly, the title "The Legendary Super Saiyan" sounds like what "Super Saiyan God" should've been, while "Super Saiyan God" should've been the name given to the name of who would become the legendary Super Saiyan. A Saiyan who receives the powers of six other Saiyans to save the planet according to legend but died due to not being able to maintain his power sounds more like a legend that'd be commonly passed down rather than the legend of a super powerful rampaging dude.

Considering the Saiyans are a race of fighting-crazy brutes, I think it was easier for them to pass the legend of the "super powerful rampaging dude" instead of the legend of "the good guy who wanted to stop the evil-doers". They'd probably even be ashamed of him.

My question is where would they go from here with regards to training?

Maybe they are going to get trained by Uisu. He is the strongest person we've seen so far, and he is a martial arts master.

That's the thing though, would Uisu even be willing to train them? And how would Bils take that idea, considering he's been sort of 'shamed' by Goku in this movie. Sure, Bils won, but Goku still made him use up a lot of power to the point that he can't destroy the Earth...so he might not take too kindly to Goku getting stronger.

Judging from Kei's reaction BOG seems to be everything I'm expecting it to be. I don't think DBZ Movie #14 is a good title for this, it should be known as THEE DBZ movie.

Good point, though going by this new storyline, I guess all Saiyans WEREN'T evil brutes? At least, not originally anyway, and the 'weak-willed, goody-two-shoe' ones were just weeded out early on (I'm still assuming this part of the story must take place way, way, waaaayyyy before Bardock and King Vegeta's time even)? That's what I got out of it anyway.

The Saiyans have taken so many punches to the head over their history, it's probably why the Super Saiyan legend became so muddled.

In fact, I bet every time a "pure hearted" Saiyan appeared the rest of them just packed up and left for a new planet and started all over again, and explained it away by saying a Legendary Super Saiyan appeared and they could no longer live in their old home because of that.

Yeah, I said it, that it was my last post. But I must defend the NEX CARNIFEX here in the blood matter.
I'm not some deviant wanting to see blood, but that's what I liked about Dragon Ball. They were horribly beaten with all that belongs to it.
Even when they have damn dragon balls and can revive anyone, you were afraid for the characters you cared about.

That's my opinion. I really hate this extremes, how can by anyone offended by drawn blood and violence.

Yeah Saiyan history is getting really convoluted to the point of irritation. As individual stories, LSSJ, the first SSJ, SSJ4, and SSJ God are alright but the fact that multiple takes on SSJ exist is just annoying.

To me all of it just revolves around the same thing. It's all one legend. Passed down and passed down, getting more screwed up, wrong translations, and then four separate stories emerge from the one. And no one knows which story is actually the real one :p

I can get that. Like I said earlier, I'm all for blood actually being shown when someone is hurt, a squeaky-clean hole in Raditz's chest as in Kai and some games is ridiculous. But, it's not some huge deal for me either, a minor annoyance at best. If there's blood where it needs to be, sweet. If it's not, then I grumble very slightly and move on, because it's the story I'm after.

Apparently they all are.

It's gotten to the point that Super Saiyan stuff is so common that you wonder why it's such a legend to begin with. It's pretty much like us talking about "the legend of federal tax season."
