Discussion regarding the entirety of the franchise in a general (meta) sense, including such aspects as: production, trends, merchandise, fan culture, and more.
GT can't be canon to the manga since you have villains escaping out of Hell which is impossible to happen in the manga and you also have Bebi who is a mutant Tsufurujin. The Tsufurujin were never shown in the manga and most likely don't even exist in the manga.

I think YOU'RE missing the point, if he didn't write GT the real writerwould be listed in the credits and it would just say based on his work like the games and episode of bardock do.
He never said he wrote the story, although what you said about him making the "base plot" if you will is true, but the script itself, yeah ...he did not write that, nor does it or will ever be canon.
He listed down in the credits because he is the creator of the franchise. You will always be credit for something even if you had nothing to do with it. David Giler
and Walter Hill are credited down in every Alien film despite them having nothing to do with the later movies.

The credits of DBGT don't say Toriyama is the writer, it says he's the "author." That means Toriyama has authored an aspect of the work in question aka the work the series is based off of which is Dragonball.
Toriyama is NOT listed as writer or scriptwriter in the credits.
The facts are in front of your eyes. Please hold while I get Herms or VegettoEX to put you in your place.

Power levels establish tension and drama. People who care about them (well, people who care about them in a narrative) don't care about the big numbers or the fancy explosions. If you have character A who's so much above character B, who's the main character, you're gonna be left wondering how in the hell character B, the character we're supposed to care and root for, is going to escape the situation or overcome the odds. It makes us emotionally invested.
If character B doesn't escape the situation in a believable way that's consistent with previous events, then that emotional investment is gone. It was pointless tension, pointless drama made just to suck in the viewer. It has no critical value whatsoever. The audience is left believing that the author can just create whatever scenarios he wants and what happens to the characters is decided by whatever the author wants to happen, regardless of the events that happened in the story. Which, in fairness, is what happens, but the audience wants to be fooled. The audience wants to know that the world they're following has rules. That the world they're invested in isn't going to bend to external factors that are irrelevant to them.
An author can do whatever he wants with the characters, that's not false. But the author should also have the responsibility to make sure it fits in cohesively with the other events in the narrative he has created.
So I know questions are closed, but I'm going to ask one anyway because I'm still curious about Bills' character, and I don't follow directions well. What's his personality like? Is he truly evil, cruel, and wicked? Is he just really immature and impatient? Is he just the typical "bwa ha ha" Dragonball movie villain? Or is there depth to him, is he an entertaining part of the movie, or is he sort of just "there" as an obstacle for Goku to deal with?

Ther difference between being listed as writer and just being listed as the original creator. like in Episode Of Bardock, but in the gt credits he's the only writer. If you cant accept this then, wow just wow and not beingin the manga makesit non canon? no dude, the manga is non canon in te dragon ball universe. yeah 99% of the time manga is canon and non manga is filler but in terms of dragonball manga is filler, samewith yu yu hakusho and aparently a few others I just cant name. Research it,I'm right. Akira wrote the anime, while the manga is a rushed rough draft with plot holes that akira doesn't cnsider canon, hence why he left it asap, because those god damn stupid manga editors.....
I rest my case of him being a troll. That last statement 100% confirms it.

Guys, seriously! first rule of any social media, Do NOT feed the trolls.
Let's get back to discuss Battle of Gods. I wonder why Uisu felt the need to "karate chop" Birusu after the battle, making him sleep for 3 years. What exactly wanted Birusu to do, than made Uisu say, "Ok, that's enough"..

I've never watched the English version before, but I seem to recall it coming up as a point of discussion recently that, due to a mistranslation by FUNimation, the U.S. version of the opening credits does mistakenly list Toriyama as the writer of GT rather than just the author of the source material. Maybe this is why zSuper Vegetaz believes this to be true.

Do you follow the most comprehensive and entertaining Dragon Ball analysis series on YouTube? If you do, you're smart and awesome and fairly attractive. If not, see what all the fuss is about without even having to leave Kanzenshuu:

zSuper Vegetaz, while I'm not entirely convinced you're not a troll, you have a massive attitude problem either way.
People who know the series better than you, who are literate in Japanese (and in the case of kei17, is Japanese), are telling you that you are mistaken. If you are indeed not a troll, I suggest you take their arguments in good faith and learn to accept when you're wrong. The facts simply don't support what you believe, and the site has guides with credits for every last episode that you can check at your leisure to see who wrote what.
Consider this your first and last warning. You will be banned if you continue.

Yeah that needs to be answered too, but I doubt the movie really explains it unless it continues awhile on after that.
And Kei17 are the fights combined 15 minutes long, or was that just Goku Vs. Bills?

Don't encourage a response. Just let the whole thing go and he will probably be suspended. Just keep to the movie.
I wanna know how they both act now. Especially Uisu for how funny he looks.

Please don't mini-mod me. I like to give people the benefit of the doubt and find legitimate solutions to problems to end bickering, and I find it genuinely plausible that that could be a source of the problem here. If it is, maybe it will help. If it doesn't, and he really is a troll, then putting forth that information doesn't hurt anything either.

Sorry about that. Though hearing the words that the manga is filler and Toriyama did the anime is the last straw for my tolerance.

I keep forgetting it will be months before I ever get to see this movie. At least there is still Full Colored DB to look forward to for my DB fix...even if it is only one chapter per week.

I'm pretty convinced that he is a troll:
“The GT staff were careless like that too,” yeah just from that quote alone I can tell this is another bullshit quoe from tese guys,I can’t tell if it’s an honest mistake, extreme trolling or kaizenshu secrety hates dragonball like tfs does but in the end fix that,GT was written by akira toriyama,he lsot mystic form after he died. It’s asolid fact.
I think we can expect a sequel if Toei reaches their 30 Billion Yen target...looking forward to Bio Birusu. In all seriousness though, if they do make a second movie with Birusu and Uisu it'll re-open the door for Makaioshin stuff.
