I don't know if this has been mentioned already but Ultimate Gohan just got owned in that clip with ease, yet in the trailers it looks like Super Saiyan 1 Goku is giving Birisu a better fight... something isn't right there.

Well we all know, except for a few, that Gohan was recolored. So Gohan is only fighting at a Super Saiyan level, not in his Ultimate form.

Not a fact, but highly likely. However, you can also argue that the animators simply made a mistake originally and colored him SSJ when he was always supposed to be Ultimate/Mystic according to the script anyway.

Well it's a very strong chance its true. You actually think it was for "promotional" reasons? Even after seeing the old trailers with actual scenes from the movie with SSJ Gohan? To me, it seems like in the battle scene that originally Gohan is powering up with yellow aura around him and that flash that someone previously brought up is when his hair turns yellow, and they just went back and kept his hair black the whole time and changed the aura to white.

True, you would just think though that he would last longer then Vegeta or Gotenks.

But remember, he was originally written as Ultimate, not SSJ. Even if he was SSJ, the intent was always Ultimate.

I agree that there's a very good chance they probably just re-colored Gohan, but at the same time I don't really see how it matters. Even if you believe that Gohan is stronger than SS3 Goku, the gap is not so insane that Gohan is going to do a whole hell of a lot better against a guy who literally just...flicks Goku away. Bils would still be taking down Gohan with relative ease.

That and, Gohan could still be drunk, or at least hung over, by that point. That's hardly peak fighting position, unless he's a Drunken Master too.

The scene where Goku is fighting Bills as a SSJ1 is after he became SSG, isn't it? And the SSG form was temporary, but after achieving it he can tap into it in his other forms. It looks like he didn't go SSJ3 after SSG though, so maybe he was holding back.

THIS. There's no distinction between SSJ strength and Ultimate strength if Gohan's going to get one-shotted no matter what.

Given that Elder Kaioshin says that Super Saiyan transformations is the wrong and flashy way of doing things AKA Toriyama probably got lazy around the time and just had him say that so he wouldn't have to change Gohan much, Toriyama was probably still in his "barely changing = stronger" school of thought when he designed SSJG.

Am I the only one that's having a hard time getting over the fact that both Uisu and the tree are pretty much nothing?

The way the poster is laid out strongly suggests that the tree is meant to be something important, but from what I've heard it seen it seems like it disappears after the opening scene with Birusu's introduction.

Part of my disappointment is probably my fault though. I was the one going round shoving the poster in everyone's faces saying, "LOOK, he's descending from the heavens and floating above a platform broken up in a similar fashion to the Dragon World...and look, there's a tree!"

But then I look at some of the older news posts and it seems like they were really hyping him up.

Is it possible the Makaioshin-thing was in the script and it got cut out at a later date due to money or something like that? Or maybe the fact that he's stronger than Birusu is meant to be the big surprise.

It's pretty obvious that the Gohan scene is the exact same animation created for the film, and the exact same backgrounds. Things have been changed, what we saw in the original trailer must be an early version of the animation as more then just his hair color have changed. Stuff like the grass has been changed too (like in that shot with shenlong we saw before). I've provided some images below for comparison. My guess is that either a.) the animators accidentally made him SSJ early on in production and they fixed it... b.) they realized their mistake of making him SSJ when he should be Ultimate Gohan and fixed it awhile ago now... c.) That fan on twitter actually got them to fix it because they didn't notice.
