Counterparts in Heaven and hell?
This has been something bothering me for a while. When I was watching the Ocean dubbed Babidi saga one of the characters says something like "Everyone on earth has a counterpart in Otherworld."
Is this an actual part of DB lore or crazy dub talk?
I'm sure Debura was there and mentally I paired him with Mr Satan as his counterpart (think about it =3). Then I kind of paired Ox King with Enma one a ruler of earth the other a ruler of heaven, this also explains the horns thing that was being discussed in the podcast.
I assume Gohan pairs with one of the Kais.
Are there any other pairings like this?

The line, which was said by Kaioshin, was more along the lines of a shadow world, not the other world.Azure wrote:This has been something bothering me for a while. There was a thread a while back talking about if this world was the one Goku visits in a Dragonball filler where he rescues that princess, but I'm to lazy to dig it up.
So zetta slow

Actually, those examples were from filler episodes. However, Toriyama does do a gag in the original manga when Goku gets hungry and thinks of eating the clouds.tarsonis wrote:You probably don't eat if you're in ghost form but you do if you have your body like Goku did. After all, he ate that fruit (Lord Enma's?) and the food King Kai served.
... and slightly off topic: yeah, the FUNi dub doe do some strange stuff sometimes. Of course there are some cases in which I actually liked the dub better than the original script. For example when Goku does his little speech to Vegeta before they fuse into Vegetto-- "We've lost our old race, Vegeta!!"

I believe he is referencing a Shadow World that Dabura came from. He said something along the lines of "While one of you may be the strongest in your world, Dabura is the strongest in his world by far." I also recall him saying something about this Shadow world being like two sides of a coin and being a negative variant of earth.
I was the one who mentioned that filler episode of Dragonball where Goku fights those Demons in a shadow realm. While the Buu saga was far from being written when that episode was made, it does tie in nicely as a plausible "Hey, filler that ties in unknowingly but well" catagory.
Babidi had taken Dabura from said Shadow realm hundreds of years ago he says. Long before Goku was ever sent to earth and visited the Shadow realm. It explains it, even if it wasn't intentional. Neat to think about anyway.

True, but that doesn't make them any less relevant.DaemonCorps wrote:Actually, those examples were from filler episodes.tarsonis wrote:You probably don't eat if you're in ghost form but you do if you have your body like Goku did. But, you however have a point here, this seems very likely.I'm sure Debura was there and mentally I paired him with Mr Satan as his counterpart (think about it =3).
