That Birusu would REALLY "like" the way Prince Vegeta was behaving at the party, then. No need for Boo to piss him off.

Hah! Yeah, I guess in this situation Vegeta would be going out of his way to do bad things at the party to keep Birusu happy then, like breaking the wine bottles and flipping tables. XD


I'm still taking in this super-interesting, unused idea they decided to pass on. X3
Vegeta's ruthless warrior kingdom was originally pure-hearted until Birusu came along one day and cast some evil spell on them. If Vegeta never knew about all that until Birusu tells him....oh wow that'd mess the prince up.
It's so wild...I would watch it.

If there is one thing that I don't like about this movie was this attempt at sugarcoating the previously established nature of the saiyan race. One of the things that made this story interesting was that the main hero, together with other main characters, were from a race of ruthless and violent space pirates and how this fact sometimes influenced the character's temper and personailty.

The whole "they were infected by evil, so it wasn't their fault " feels like one of those early changes Funimation did to make it more kid friendly or something.

On the other hand.... Birusu being able to infect people with evil might have been interesting for the movie's plot, even though it feels a bit like a copy of Babidi's spell. I'm almost 100% sure it would have been used to infect someone from the main cast (probably not Vegeta, because, as I said, it's been done before) and something tells it might have been Goku. Maybe this is related to the idea of what makes a hero the director mentioned.

Goku being infected by evil and Vegeta having to take him down using that newly unhidden power of his. Majin Vegeta in reverse. I would also watch that.
You could have a pretty good internal struggle there with Goku trying to break himself free of the spell but since he's not a typical hero it'd be even harder for him. *_*

How many times has the evil Goku plot been used in fanfictions though? Especially with Vegeta being the one who takes him down?

I had no idea evil Goku is a fanfiction favorite, but even so, that shouldn't make it taboo for official material.

Taking this "fanfiction" idea further, I would have loved for Goku and Gohan to have been infected and have Vegeta and Piccolo to try and save them, just like they were "saved" thanks to them. You know, poetic irony and stuff like that.

You didn't? I thought it was one of the biggest cliches in Dragon Ball's fanficiton community.

I think it's something that could be a good idea if done well but it's been overused so many times, even as just an idea. I'd rather not see it rehashed for official instalments.

I'm so glad they changed Birusu into the character he is, if he was truly evil it would be so dull. I can't get that picture of him punching Goku with a crazy expression on his face out of my head. That's all I imagine when I think of Birusu now.

Boy, am I glad Toriyama changed Watanabe's original story....!
The Saiyajin were this ruthless race of warriors, because they chose to be like that. No matter their upbringing, they always had the choice to be better.
Bardock's attempt to save his race even at the cost of his live, Vegeta's change of heart, and even Goku's rare occurrence of having a pure heart even though he's a saiyajin. All of this would lose value and significance when you had something like, "well they were good people to begin with...". To suddenly have the Saiyajin being victims of a virus, would mess with things that are perfect as they are.

And I'm pretty tired of the whole "oh no! everyone turned evil! what'll Goku do?" trope. And even if you turn it on it's head, making Goku the one turned evil, I still wouldn't like it. I think I'd hate it even more, actually haha
Dragon Ball's gotta be fun and sometimes even wacky. And this kind of story really doesn't fit the style of Toriyama, I think. Goku is the one character who can't change too much. He's the one that changes and inspires people to be better, so an "evil Goku" just doesn't come to mind when I think Dragon Ball.

All in all, I'm glad Birusu is they way he is on the movie. He's fun, crazy, bored, and selfish. But not really a bad guy...

OK, so let me get this straight. Judging by his blank tank top and spiked bracelets, is it safe to assume that Gyumao realized that being a Bear King is better than being an Ox King? If so, good on him! He must have realized that his hairy, hefty appearance has strong appeal to a certain segment of the population and he's using it to his advantage. It would explain why he never remarried.

Also, Tenshinhan better watch out. Looks like in that group picture Chaozu is resting his pale buns pretty comfortably on Daddy Ox's shoulder. Oh, Chaozu, you slut. Lunch, get ready -- Ten's going to be looking for a rebound soon.

Then again, that awful tie points to him being straight.

Just in case, though, fan-fic writers should start prepping their young Ox King/Grandpa Gohan stories. I'm calling mine Brokeback Kame House.

You know the next step in ssj's being red hair is actually quite logical, since ginger people have even less pigment in their hair then blondes. It's something like being heterozygote for this one gene makes you blond and being homozygote for it makes you ginger.

This is why I always speculated Gogeta in gt with his red hair might be a step beyond ssj4.

I'm glad Toriyama changed the story, it fits in better with the rest of Dragonball that way. Also, the idea of an evil God infecting people and making them evil is too similar to Baby.
